As a folksinger/guitarist there are gigs with mid-sized audiences where playing straight acoustic is inadequate and my large acoustic amp (60+lbs) is overkill and inconvenient to lug around. Recently I was invited to play at a street festival with ten musical booths scattered up and down the street and access from parking meant a long hike to the booth. So I searched among all the small guitar or bass only amps for a small acoustic amp with mike and guitar inputs; the Behringer Ultracoustic fit the bill. The free shipping made Musician's Friend the most economical choice among all the online suppliers. It was ideal for the venue: plenty of good clean sound and easy to carry. There was one listener who was stopped in his tracks and remarked on how good the sound was from such a small amp.
The only inadequacy found was the screws that hold on the back plate; they are too short and with slight pressure they popped out. Repair was easy; just replace the original short screws with one inch screws for a solidly attached back plate.

My better judgement told me that an 8" speaker and 15 watts would be a whimpy little toy but the great reviews won out and I ordered this amp. It is a very nice looking amp. Extrememly lightweight and portable. It is difficult to dial in a great sound for guitar and vocal both when they are sharing the same EQ controls. I'm playing a Larrivee D03 with a KK Mini pickup. When I dial in a killer guitar tone the vocal suffers and vice versa. As others have said, it starts to break up when you turn the volume past 3 or 4. That's ridiculous IMHO. The speaker is listed as a 20 watt but it distorts past a volume of 4. This amp may be useful in a very minimal way for coffee house type gigs but honestly, in the right room, I think you'd be just as loud with nothing. Its not worth the hassle of sending it back but I plan to buy something with reverb, independent EQ for each channel and MORE volume. Let me also say, as is always the case, the folks at Musician's Friend had my order packed and shipped before I could log off my computer and it arrived FAST and packed well. You guys rock!

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic AT108 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I'm a street musican in a some of the touresty places around Orlando FL. I play slide and dobro guitar and have access to AC power most of the time. I needed some volume assist for cheap so I took a chance on this little guy. WOW this little amp is VERY good for the price and puts out a bit more volume than you would think. A reviewer several down from me gave it a bad review ??? Seems he ran a piano into it and was displeased with the sound. Please know that the dynamic frequency range of a digital piano/synth and a guitar are very different (most of you already know that I'm sure). For GUITAR and/or dobro stuff, this amp will be real hard to beat for the price. Rock on good people, hope this helps.:)

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic AT108 Acoustic Combo Amp:

This is the best $60 I ever spent. Not only does it have good sound, even with the volume set high, but I accidentally discovered you can, via the CD input, add another instrument if it has a pickup with its own volume! I don't know if this is recommended, but it has not hurt mine. So our trio can actually get by with one of these for a party gig where we don't need a full large PA. My guitar with a volume control pickup goes in the CD input, the fiddle and flute go into the other two. It is so handy I bought a second one for the times we may add a few more people to the band! I rarely use the large PA anymore. You can also get very creative and run a small mixer into it, with full effects, more channels etc. and use it as a speaker basically. You can even do a record out with a cheap small mixer attached! Plus get phantom power if the mixer has it. No more lugging the large PA for me, unless it's a very serious concert type setting. I love these, and have passed the info along to others doing small gigs. They couldn't believe they'd be good for the small price, but they are. One of these things in life that is too good to be true but is!

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic AT108 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I like Behringer products, and own several. This amp met all expectations. I was dismayed to see it on sale, for more than twenty less than I paid, when I came to the review page. A call to Musicians Friend and within three minutes the difference was credited back to me. Thanks Behringer for a great product, and thanks Musician's Friend for great customer service.

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic AT108 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I was looking for an inexpensive amp that had dual inputs. I am just starting out on acoustic guitar and wanted an amp I could plug a mic into and sing along. This amp provided just that. However, I was not able to get the exact sound out of the amp that I was looking for. Everything seemed to be without any bass or bottom. I worked with the settings for a while but was just unable to get a solid sound from the set-up. I did try different guitars as well. Anyway, I ended up sending the amp back. What a shame as it was a nice looking amp and had the features I was looking for. If only the sound was more full. I ended up trying a different amp (Acoustic AG30) and that thing defintely has the solid sound I am looking for. Only drawback is the price is about 2-3 times more that the AT108.

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic AT108 Acoustic Combo Amp:

This is a great little amp. It wasn't made to be a bass amp but it does have enough low end to do the job. A person is able to adjust the sound to just about suit anyone. It has plenty of power for garage band practice or a small venue. I didn't care for the sound of the mic through it, sounded muffled but didn't purchase it for that. (maybe a better mic would help) It can be run through a sound system although I haven't done that yet.

This is my second Behringer AT108 amp, same model AT108.The first one I gave it away and bought the same model recently. This amp is excellent for it´s value, performace and sound eventhough it doesn´t put out that much wattage 15W-20W it's very clean in it´s sound quality. It has many hookup features such as microphone,cd player, headphones and of course the instrument jack. I would really recommend it for home recording and practice.

Was skeptical about trying a small/portable combo amp for both microphone and instrument, but am totally sold on this model. It performs great in small to med venues, with all the power needed and no distortion or feedback...it sounds as good as my 150W PA system!

This is my second review of this amp. At first I wasn't exactly thrilled with it but then again I didn't really expect it to be a killer amp at such a low price. Since then I have played around with it more and I must say it really IS a killer little amp. When I first tried it I was getting distortion when I turned the volume past 3. I don't know what I'm doing different now (except for moving it into the living room with a hardwood floor) but it sounds awesome! I can now run the mic volume at 3 and the guitar at 8.5 and it's a crystal clear mix. This amp is perfect for adding a little extra "oomph" to your performance at a backyard party or coffee house type situation. For the price you just can't beat it.

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic AT108 Acoustic Combo Amp:

This is a great amp to practice with, it's also loud enough for small gigs. The price was very cheap compared to the other combination amps of this type. Bang for buck, this is a sweet deal. The only issue I had is some feedback from the microphone, which is easily solved.

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic AT108 Acoustic Combo Amp:

Bought it for my wife to use while learning the lap steel. Small enough for her to carry easily but has a big sound. Perfect size for ladies or kids who can't lug a 60+ lb. amp around. My 2nd Behringer purchase but will not be my last. This company knows how to build an amp. Needs a reverb unit to make it complete.

I started playing mandolin in a celtic band. I use it for practise sessions as I have trouble hearing myself play over other acoustic instruments. It is very portable and faithfully reproduces the sound of the mandolin. I use the instrument input. I have not used the mic input yet. It is a great amp for the money. The only negative is feedback if I get too close to it
