I was in the Market for a 4x12 cab as my Mesa 2x12 Rectifier cab wasn't giving me the fullest possible sound when playing larger venues. I went in to my preferred music store with plans of purchasing the Mesa 4x12 oversized cab. I noticed the Blackstar artisan beside it for the same price so decided after playing the Mesa 4x12 through a Dual Rec I'd plug into the blackstar. The artisan cab is the same size and has similar dimensions as the Mesa. This cab is very well built and has a nice burgandy tolex. The grill cloth is nice and thick. Sonically this cab is amazing. Played with high gain this cab roars while maintaing headroom. Clean it sounds beautiful. This cab seems to handle every bit and some. Very tight low end,strong mids, and crisp highs(not fizzely). I had a real hard time choosing between this cab and the Mesa but ended up choosing the blackstar and could not be happier.

I needed a guitar cabinet and wanted one with Celestion Vintage 30's in it. I've used Mesa Boogie and Marshall, so I went into Guitar Center to see if they had a used Marshall or Boogie for sale. As I walked in the store they had a Blackstar Artisan on clearance sale right in front. I never heard of Blackstar so I didn't pay it much attention. When I looked at the tag, it said it had Vintage 30's and it's brand new. When I looked it up on the internet, I found it was a high end British boutique cabinet handmade by former Marshall employees. I tried it out and it sold me! Major crunch and sweet cleans, fat bottom and searing leads. I bought it on the spot, and for an excellent price (clearance). Ozzie's new guitarist is using them also. Grab one if you can!

I have to say, I wasnt much all interested in Blackstar products at first. I actually walked into a guitar shop focused to purchase a used beat up Marshall cabinet with Vintage 30 speakers, The best speakers you can get period. So I didnt want to mess around, I knew what I wanted. As I inquired about used speaker cabinets with Vintage 30s other than a Marshall that would be cheaper.. An employee turned my focus to a brand new Blackstar Artisan 4x12 cabinet, at first I was a little weird about it, but I gave it a shot anyways just to say i actually tried in once in my lifetime. I plugged this thing into an Engl Fireball 60w (my own head) and it completly dumbfounded me, so clear, bright and defined even at high levels, why havent I discoverd this cabinet before?! Its really friggen loud as hell.. but not to the point where it starts crapping out and start distorting or altering your tone at high levels, which is a true Godsend. I had to get this thing and i got it at a really good deal for 500 bucks brand new. But I would have fully paid for it, well worth it. I would never buy a Marshall cabinet now after owning this, Ive given Mesa Boogie,Marshall and Engl cabinet a shot but they dont have the balls to compare with this Artisan.
