Comments about Blackstar HT-1R 1Wt 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo w/Reverb:

Nice little amp, immediately replaced stock sovtek and eh tubes with nos blackburn ('63) 12au7 and ('50s) nos raytheon "as" code black plate 12ax7. instantly quieter and really nice cleaner clean channel and richer drive channel. Plugged into custom cab with a V30 and Hot 100 Celestions and that put this over the top. Also able to get a little more sonic feedback malipulation action with the 2 12" cab connected and the volume pushed, if thats your thing. The little 8" speaker has limitations and sounds like it. I like the reverb on the unit, sounds very good to my ears. Good old school od sound on clean when gain is pushed, nice drive channel, isf does change the shape of the sounds with greater usability than one might think. Btw, this amp seems to like rft ax7s also. Nice amp that can be even nicer with a few plug in mods!!

Comments about Blackstar HT-1R 1Wt 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo w/Reverb:

I've been wanting an HT-1R or HT-5R ever since they hit the market. The rave reviews and demos sold me, but I thought they were a bit pricey. I held out until the white version popped up on SDOTD on MF. From the day it arrived, I have been happy I grabbed one. It's plenty loud and has more clean headroom than I was expecting. I instantly got Santana type tone just on the clean channel with some gain. I don't think there is a blues, rock, heavy rock or 80's metal tone you can't find, it's all there. If you want something for band practice or small gigs, get the HT-5R, but for personal practice this one is perfect.

Comments about Blackstar HT-1R 1Wt 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo w/Reverb:

This turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. A small practice amp with a big sound. The small speaker does sound good, but running it through headphones sounds great. There is quite a bit of tone range and the gain is nice. The clean is fine (but that is not the reason I bought a Blackstar).

I am really impressed overall with the sound and quality of this amp, and if you are looking for something small, I couldn't recommend it more.
