The Blackstar HT-DELAY can take you from vintage and multihead tape head delays, through to classic analogue and linear full bandwidth effects and two loop modes as well. Each of the eight Delay effects have been designed by technical reference to emulate vintage equipment and then extensively honed 'by ear' to provide sounds that are both natural and inspirational to the player.
The features on the Blackstar HT-DELAY have been selected to be particularly suited to live performance and that is why the Tap Time feature has been included, to allow the adjustment of delay time during performance. Some of the effects are quite traditional and some like the amazing Loop functions may be less familiar. A Short/Long feature lets you adjust the modulation time of the eight different modulation effects. The Saturation control is a valve gain and compression circuit which acts in the digital effects 'side chain' to impart the valve dynamics and harmonics typical of vintage valve effects. Controls include EFFECT, TIME, FEEDBACK, SATURATION, LEVEL, ON/OFF switch, and a TAP/LOOP switch. Includes power supply. Includes power supply.

The idea of putting a tube in a digital effect is not new, but I have not seen it this well executed. Blackstar has done an admirable job of working a tube preamp into a digital delay pedal. Going straight into a cheap EHX Headphone amp this thing sounded amazing. I am betting I can run this straight into a PA or home studio and get excellent results. It sounds very clean Fenderish in personality, and the saturation control is very effective but subtle. The pedal actually responds like a vintage tube amp. The stronger your pick attack, the more pronounced the drive and compression from the tube become. Very warm, very sweet sounding. I need to point out that the digital effects do not sound analog. They are digital, but good digital. Not harsh, but clean and very hi-fidelity. As I stated earlier, this unit sounds amazing. The variety of effects is limited compared to most digital modelers, even the Digitech Hardwire and TC Toneprint, but all the models are unique, musical, and in their own ways, useful. And soundwise, this pedal really towers above every other delay I've tried. Unless delay is an effect you use a lot and you can't do without it, you are probably better served having this much money deployed elsewhere in your rig--after all, even used, these are expensive pedals. But if you do have enough use for delay that you can justify spending this kind of money, the Blackstar ought to be on your short list for consideration. It lacks a lot of the whistles and bells that delay pedals have become known for, opting instead for features that will be used consistently. Every knob, model, and switch on this pedal is useful and toneful. Also worth pointing out is the build quality. This is an exceptionally heavy, well built, and sturdy piece of gear.

The HT-Delay is very warm sounding compared to the TC Electronic Flashback. A friend and I tested these units against each other extensively and we both came to the same conclusion. In my opinion the Flashback is slightly harsh and sterile sounding compared to the HT. The saturation control on the HT is wonderful for controlling the warmth of the delay.
The HT-Delay is admittedly more expensive than the Flashback but I think the difference in the tone is well worth the extra money.
The buffers in the HT actually made the sound of my rig sound better than the true bypass on the Flashback when the pedals were not engaged.
The HT-Delay that we first tried went into loop mode several times all on its own durning testing and would not come back out without disconnecting the power supply. We were afraid the unit was defective so we returned it but still feel that when working properly, it was a much better sounding delay pedal than the Flashback.

Honestly one of the best pedals I have ever played...
The tube is great in this thing and if you set it to looper mode... then never uses teh looper the pedal can even be used as a tube OD pedal... crazy good sound.
teh delay modes all do what they should... and I honestly have nothing bad to say about this thing... such a win...
Dropped it off a bed... it feel three feet onto tile... not a scratch and teh tube is fine... so... yeah...
also this thing feel like a brick... you could kill someone if I hit them with it...
Over priced... but if you see it for under 300 grab it.

I just got the Blackstar HT-delay a couple days ago so far it is a great pedal. It is easy to use and has a good selection of different effects. It is built pretty well however the 2 switches feel like they could have a little more tension in them I felt they were kinda mushy. Hopefully these won't wear out quickly. But I definitely think it is worth the money.
