Great metal tone made for practice and studio.

The Blackstar HT1MH 1W head is a stripped-down, tube-driven metal monster that lets you play full-bore, high-gain metal through your favorite speakers without drawing the wrath of your neighbors. It can handle tones from classic British heavy metal to modern U.S. scooped high gain, and all sonic places in between.

Its button-switchable two-channel design (Clean and Overdrive) features easy-to-adjust controls, presenting just four knobs: Volume, Gain, Reverb and EQ via Blackstar's patented Infinite Shape Feature that gives infinite adjustment over your tone characteristics. Couple that with a rugged construction, true tube power through one ECC83 and one ECC82, stereo reverb, stereo aux. line in and a speaker-emulated line out for recording - and this is a potent tool created to melt faces at home or in the studio, but without the public-nuisance charges.

  • 1W tube power
  • Two channels: Clean and Overdrive
  • Stereo reverb
  • Patented Infinite Shape Feature
  • Stereo MP3/line input
  • Speaker emulated / headphone output
  • External speaker output, 4-16Î
  • Metal speaker grille

Comments about Blackstar HT Metal Series HT1MH 1W Tube Guitar Head w/Reverb:

I just picked this amp up and I'm beyond impressed. I'm playing it through a little silverface 8" speaker cab (it's actually a broken amp that I stripped the electronics from) and the tone is amazing. The clean channel is super pure tube tone. It's warm and the EQ/ISF knob allows you to give it a little edge or roll that edge off. And the built in reverb is great to have on an amp this size. Just a heads up, it's not the HUGE reverb you can get out of a pedal, but it's plenty for most situations. Speaking of pedals, the clean channel takes them no problem! It sounds great with a little extra drive and fuzz.

I'm not a metal player, but the driven channel gives me exactly what I want if I'm going to play around on my punk jams with the drive rolled up to about 1/3rd, so there's a long way to go from there.

I read the other reviews and I'm not totally sure they're playing the same amp I am. This guy really is a gem and if you're in the market for a small bedroom or recording amp (I even gigged it last night at a quiet venue), be sure to check this one out.

As for volume - with the 8", it's more than enough for a large bedroom.

Comments about Blackstar HT Metal Series HT1MH 1W Tube Guitar Head w/Reverb:

Reviews on these things tend to be good. However, finding reviews on the "metal" version is limited (as of 2/17/15). Plenty of internet demos, but trust me NONE of those demos represent this amp at all. This amp is pretty disappointing to say the least.

The clean channel is actually very very good, classic "marshall / blackstar" tone. However, you dont buy a metal amp for its clean.

The distortion in itself isnt to bad. It is infact modern high gain, but its not super black metal or anything. Its your basic thrash or metalcore type sound.

The low end on this amp is what made me return this. Its out of control and far to thumping. No matter how much you play with the "tone" knob it doesnt help much. The UK side basically sounds more airy and hollow where the USA side is more compressed and chunky. But the bass is with you the entire time. So if your looking for that tighter low end sound like youd get from some higher end amps your not going to get it here.

      Reverb is awful. Barely works.

If your looking for a small high gain head for the same price def go with the randall diavlo. Its a one trick pony, but its extremely good at what it does.

This amp has a great clean sound and the gain channel is okay. But the real cons are the reverb sucks, can hardly hear it. And the isf switch doesnt make any difference in the sound.
