OVERVIEW

A no compromise, ultra high gain, filth machine.

The HT-DISTX tone has been benchmarked against the best high-gain tube amps in the world and will transform your mild mannered classic into a fire breathing monster. The patent-applied-for ISF control takes you from 'Classic British' to 'Modern American' and anywhere in between and the no compromise speaker emulated output lets you get it all down to tape or disk.

The HT Range of tube overdrive pedals features true high voltage (300V) circuitry and are packed with innovations and tone. The revolutionary, patent-applied-for tone-shaping ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) will redefine the tonal expectations of guitarists.

Add to this the no compromise speaker emulated output and you have the most cost effective way of getting real tube tones direct to disk or tape.

So whether you're playing live or recording, with the HT Range of pedals you can finally get the sound in your head.

This thing sounds good on so many different settings, mostly for low, heart-piercing rhythmic tones. I had always wondered how to sound like Nile, and this will give you a similar tone at the right settings. The deep gain sounds so natural.

On top of all of that it has so many great combinations of settings, if you were thinking about this pedal vs the drive, that one only has 3 knobs and you wouldn't be able to get the crazy amount of different sounds out of it.

One downside is that the pedal needs to go into the beginning of your signal path and the emulated output doesnt do the gain stage justice. But since this pedal is really all you need, it wont be a problem. This thing has no middle ground either, its always full-on deep gain (as it should be).

If you want to find that deep sound used by At the Gates, Sleep, or Belphegor, I would highly recommend this.

Its funny that everyone I know who praises this pedal has a really nice amp. I think most of the people that think this pedal is great are getting most of their distortion from their amp and using the pedal more as an eq. The distortion does not add distortion after three o'clock it stays the same in terms of gain and just adds more compression, not cool. The ISF isn't really infinite either, the american and british settings do sound different but anything in between is really not noticeable. I recorded 8 different clips changing only the ISF knob and no one who listened to them could tell teh difference. You knows its big when you get it, but after having it it becomes kind of annoying how big and heavy it is and that it uses a 16v adapter so if you are running a pedalboard of 9v pedals you are going to have to truck around a second adapter. Things I did like were the emulated speaker out, that sounded pretty good for direct recording. Other than that I see it only as tube preamp for solid state amps. It is not a good high gain distortion, it doesn't live up to its name of "pure valve filth". Unless you already have a good high gain tube head look elsewhere, even an EHX Metal Muff sounds better than this.

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-DISTX Tube High Gain Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

        Well worth the money!

I bought this filth machine because I saw some videos on YouTube. I figured that I would be disappointed once I received it and plugged it in. I was not disappointed.

Not only is this pedal build like a tank, it produces more distortion than most amps. It is so versatile you can sound like anyone from AC/DC to Slipknot.

I purchased this pedal and used it as a preamp in front of an ART SLA1 power amp and a Randall 2x12 and it sounded better than my Marshall. I recommend this pedal for anyone who wants that tube warmth and high gain. Of course, I can't forget about the price. You can't get this sound from anyone else for this price. I'm guessing their prices are lower than others because they are a fairly new company and price could change once they have established a good name for themselves. Buy it and you will not be sorry!

Does Two things extremely well. Adds gain (my amp does not have a gain feature)before the signal goes into the amp. Adds distortion without going to high volume. Tone can be shaped by the ISF feature. Pedal is build like a tank. I don't usually like effects but I love what this pedal adds.

A sales person at M F convinced me this was the best distortion pedal for the money. After reading and thinking and reading some more I decided to purchase knowing if I was not happy M F would help me.
Wow what a great pedal. It has so much more tone and range than anything else I have. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a full sounding effect. None of that thin lead sounds we all get used to.

very versitle when it comes to gain and eq
built like a tank. Its like having a huge stack turned up to the max and you can play with that tone at any volume with any amp
a little pricey but its well worth the price

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-DISTX Tube High Gain Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

              Wont leave home without it.
I have a 1977 Marshall JCM 800 2203. This amp is so loud that I run all my gear threw the low power input. The Blackstar is all Im using for High gain sounds so the amp is set at a lower clean volumn. The pedal has so many options with the tone that I can get a great sound with my tube amp and solid state amp (also ran clean). Backup solid state amp is a Marshall MG100HDFX. The Blackstar has so much gain on tap and yet I can back the volumn down on my guitar and it cleans up beautifuly. Very touch sensitive. Also run a MXR Microamp at the end of my signal chain as a lead boost turning a one channel amp into a three channel, clean, dirty, and the lead boost channel. Other guitarest in the band uses a Carvin V3 GREAT amp but with the Blackstar I can get just as heavy and liquid singing leads. Also used is a Palmer DI. Speakers for all setups Celestion Vintage 30's.
Built like a tank no problems after 5 gigs and consent use at home recording and practicing.
I want to get a backup. And the money is well worth it.

In front of my 1977 Marshall JCM800 2203 sounds great at volumes you can use. The amp is so loud that I never play anywhere even outside where I can dime this amp to full gain so this pedal( preamp) is just what I needed. In front of my smaller solid state Marshalls it again sounds fantastic. Just run into the clean channel of your amp with this and be amazed.
              Its got it all.
              Heavy Duty stuff here.
Seen much less for much more.

Ok Soi got this thing about a week ago and dropped it on my foot taking it out of the box needless to say it holds up better than my foot. its built like a Tank. The Sounds coming out of this thin g are amazing its very versatile. The one problem i had and im glad i looked at youtube videos is that if your running it through a SS Amp you will need an EQ Pedal to tame the High end fuzz. I recomend the MXR 10 Band EQ or the KFK 10 band if you want a splitter

Play through Egnater Renegade 212, wanted more gain, bought this pedal and never looked back. I use it on my clean and it sounds great. Once I dialed in the clean I was looking for then tweeked the pedal I found a great tone. Now I use the Egnater dirt for overdriven and slight gain and the Distx for melting faces.
