Look, line 6 was great in the beginning when musicians couldn't afford to get high cost amps but wanted a good sound. The American Made Line 6 nailed that, but over the years, they've failed. The SpiderValve, I don't care what you say, was a good Idea, but could have been designed way better.
What Blackstar had done is Modeled the response of the tubes, not just their tone. And I would have to say that I was loving it, playing The Golden Ax Explorer, The SGJ, and even an LTD Eclipse with a Seymour Duncan Blackout in the bridge. Each pickup responded differently to the amp, and brought the amp to life. I decided to plug into the Spider Valve. I wasn't on it any longer than a minute when it hit me, Line 6's digital sound going through tubes just didn't cut it, but Blackstars True Valve Power nailed it. I got the sound I wanted with every stage of gain, from clean to overdrive. The Effects need tweaking when you first touch it, but wow, they're great too.
Bottom Line, don't ever by a Line 6 AGAIN. Yeah true, they are cheaper, but the Blackstar is so much more worth it. They nailed the tube tone. I remember playing on the Series 200 with KT88's and the Series One with 6L6 tubes, and there was no difference in this amp than both of those as far as tone goes.
