OVERVIEW

A smarter, louder starter guitar amp for helping shape your tone.

The ID:Core40 is a solid 40W entry-level guitar amplifier that provides incredible tone and flexibility thanks to a simple and intuitive control set with two 6.5" speakers which provide super wide stereo for an immersive playing experience that will have you hooked on playing guitar.

ID:CORE represents the culmination of more than seven years' technical Research and Development. These amps have an intuitive control set like a traditional amp, but have the versatility of programmability. The unique controls allow you, the guitarist, to custom design your own sound. The Voice control has six different settings - Clean Warm, Clean Bright, Crunch, Super Crunch, OD 1, OD 2. When used together with Blackstar's patented ISF control you can get the exact tone you're thinking of. The effects section delivers studio quality modulation, delay and reverb effects simultaneously that you can store with your sound.

Deep editing and storing of patches is simple using the Blackstar INSIDER software. Patches can be shared, uploaded and downloaded via the online community. The USB connector also allows you to record from your amp directly to your computer. An emulated output and MP3/line input complete the package. By using the unique Voice control and the patented ISF, ID:CORE Series amplifiers allow unparalleled flexibility and ease of use, enabling you to design the sound in your head and deliver it at home, in the studio or in rehearsal.

This amp from Blackstar has the most amazing 3d type sound,it really does surround you. So from a practicing point of view, it's the best experience i've ever had. I also love playing music through this thing as the speakers are full range, it sounds as good as any Ipod dock i've heard. I've recently also done some direct recoding with it via the USb output and it performed so well, i'm shouting from the rooftops about this amp! Treat yourself to on of the ID Core amps and you won't be dissapointed at all.

Great idea. Still needs some work. This amp does some things really well. The clean warm and bright channels both sound good. The delay and reverb take you into ambient territory that sounds amazing and is quite unique. The crunch and super crunch are decent. Personally I don't care for the over drive channels. I prefer my Roland Cube for that. Also It has poor bass response with the small speakers and magnets. But on the plus side It sounds really good to play music through an I Pod or smart phone. I'm keeping it despite some limitations it is a lot of fun. If you can only afford one practice amp I would recommend choosing some thing else.

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 40W Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

After reading the NAMM hype I wanted to try one, but it sure took a long time for the amps to hit inventory! First impression is the housing seems fragile, thin cabinet construction. I would not have this thing bouncing around in a car trunk or equipment van. On the upside it is very light and easy to transport, just be careful. The sound is very cool, although a little artificial sounding. The 40 gets plenty loud but the little speakers have a little trouble with the bass-of course. The sounds overall are very cool (because of the stereo effect) and I think it's a great practice amp-not sure if folks could gig with it. You can run it to a PA with a 1/8 stereo to two 1/4 monos, run each one to a separate channel and pan them left and right, now you have the stereo effect through the PA and it sounds pretty cool! Go try one out, you might like it!

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 40W Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

I'm sorry not to give a bunch of accalades. It is sufficient for using to amplify a keyboard in a group at church. I'm just dissappointed it didn't have better sound. Call me old fashioned if you wish, but these kinds of amp just had better sound in the early days (60's, 70's, 80's). This thing sounds thin, presets are noisy and just wish it had a warmer souns, and volume control on the MP3 input. It's okay.

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 40W Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

I'm a tube guy, and over the past couple of years, Blackstar have really become known to me, because a lot of my guitarist friends have recommended their stuff.
The ID series first caught my eye using it's true valve power section to really give you a close version of a tube amp. After trying one of these amps, Blackstar caught my attention.
The core 40 amp is a slightly different animal, in that it's a product for the home practice market which suits me down to the ground. I can't always drag my tube amp upstairs to jam!
In the past I've had many small combos from all the big brands, and I always get bored pretty quick & get rid of them. The tone is always an issue for me.
Blackatar nail it with this easy to use, full of tone little monster! I'll be checking their high end gear soon enough of theae products are anything to go by! Awesome

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 40W Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

Having just moved to the US from London I no longer have access to my usual arsenal of Marshalls and so needed a small but beefy practice amp to tinker with. This Blackstar does the job remarkably well...
OK, so it's a transistor amp and therefore will never be as warm as a tube amp but the EQ options on it bridge that gap better than most trannies I've used in the past. For it's size it is amazing the kind of tone you can get out of it.
It's plenty loud enough too, and seems to thank you when you crank the gain up. The clean option produces a very Vox-esque vintage overdrive when driven hard whilst the higher gain channels go through just about everything from Brit Pop to Black Metal.
The onboard FX seem to be pretty sweet and quite intuitive to use. Getting some basic delay and modulation is easy but the one drawback on this amp is the lack of control options on the amp itself meaning that fine tuning is a lot more difficult. I'm hoping that the Blackstar software will help cure this so that I can properly set the amp up.
Finally, I'd read reviews from people saying this amp is tinny. It's not. Fine you don't get the same fat bass response you would out of a 4x12 but it is definitely a lot better than anything else in its size class. I've been playing through it with a mix of Gibsons, Fenders and a BC Rich and they all sound fine for home practice. I'd not want to gig with this by any stretch of the imagination, but at home it's absolutely perfect.

would be 5 stars but the software took a lot of time and effort to work. I have 3 small tube practice amps and this sounds better overall because of the stereo effects.

Best practice amp ever! I use this amp to save mileage on my tube amps. It's great to just grab an axe and plug straight in. I get some very good tones out of this little amp. I've been micing it up at band practice and it sounds great and keeps me from carrying any heavy equipment.

People are giving it negative reviews for it not being a good live amp or whatever, but please keep in mind that it IS a 40w amp. It's meant exclusively for practice. I probably wouldn't record with it, but as a practice amp, it is amazing!!

I have every major brand of amp from Marshall to Carvin to Mesa Boogie to Orange and all but the most exotic amps, such as Diesel. This little amp has all you need for a great sounding practice amp. And it plays mp3's or CD's with great clarity due to the "full range" speakers. If all you did was hook this up to your computer and use as a computer speaker system, it would be worth the price. So you can listen to a song you are learning and jam to it with the normal guitar amp features. It has a tuner and very adequate effects to powder your tone. Decide which size you need and choose either the 10, the 20 or this 40. Love it!
