Comments about Blackstar LT Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
Got this because I was looking for a "cheap" overdrive for my 2nd, smaller board to use for the "every once in a while" gig where I don't need a whole lot of effects. After playing it, it ended up on my "every gig board". I say "cheap", because I got this when Musicians Friend was running a special on them. I've played it in front of my Dr. Z Z-Wreck and Mesa Boogie Mark V combo and it sounds really good.
You can tell it's loosely based off a Tubescreamer with the slight mid-hump, but this pedal also adds a pretty good thump around the 100hz mark. It's not over powering, but I can see my sound man asking me to "turn the bass down". It also has about 50% more gain/drive than a classic Tubescreamer. When you put an actual Tubescreamer (or other classic overdrive) in front of this on about half gain, you can get a pretty tight hard rock/classic metal tone - even with a Telecaster.
Someone looking for an overdrive that doesn't kill your low end, but still has some Tubescreamer characteristics, but with more gain, should give this pedal a try.
