Great pedal for the money!I like the distortion sound. To me the distortion sound is more like a 80 Rock sound band like Ratt, Dokken, Van Halen sounds. The overdrive sound good.check out my video for testing this pedal.

Comments about Blackstar LT Dual 2 Channel Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I like this pedal because you can get a lot of tone variations, with the use of the ISF control. You can go from modern high gain amplifier, to British steel, and anywhere in between, with the twist of a knob. Very useful pedal.

Comments about Blackstar LT Dual 2 Channel Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I use this with a Vox Night Train head on clean, and this pedal gives me my crunch and overdrive sounds. It doesn't have the girth of a distortion channel on an amp, but it sounds very good when dialed in right. I'm very impressed with how useful and clever the design of this pedal is. I'd rather have this than other distortion pedals that cost 2-3 times as much.

Comments about Blackstar LT Dual 2 Channel Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I love the idea of this pedal - a distortion and an overdrive in one, which allows you to turn on either channel with one stomp (most "dual" pedals have an on/off switch and a boost switch instead of two discreet channels). The Blackstar set up makes it much easier to switch between overdrive, distortion and the clean sound from your amp. Other cool features include click-less toggle switches which produce zero noise when engaging and disengaging the pedal, and a heavy metal enclosure. It's likely that this thing will last a long, long time.

Sound-wise, the pedal is a good approximation of Blackstar amps, which sound fantastic. I would say that the distortion channel is better than the overdrive. But, this is all personal preference. It's a great sounding pedal, overall.

Here are the negatives: first and foremost, this is a buffer bypass pedal. This, in itself, is not a big deal, but it seems that the buffer Blackstar chose for this pedal is not of very high quality. When the pedal is off, my clean sound was noticeably thinned out. With a lot of buffers you get a slight treble boost, with this one it was more of a bass/mids cut. Made my Telecaster sound very, very thin and artificial. As an aside, a few months ago I recorded with one of their HT pedals, and had an issue with the effect bleeding through the buffer when the pedal was off. So, it might be a company-wide issue, or maybe I just got unlucky.

One more quibble: the battery compartment is on the bottom of the pedal and needs a screwdriver to access. Can't understand why pedal makers still insists on having people carry a screwdriver to change batteries, and the placement of the compartment on the bottom makes it tough to switch between battery use and pedalboard - velcro can cover up the compartment. Because the pedal is pretty heavy, you probably would want some velcro at both ends to prevent your pedal from falling off a board.

Bottom line is with some minor tweaks, this pedal would be fantastic. However, for me, the buffer issue makes it unusable. If you don't play much in clean mode, or have an especially dark sounding rig, this may very well be the pedal for you. Besides, like I said, maybe I got unlucky with a bad buffer.

Comments about Blackstar LT Dual 2 Channel Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This beauty makes my Fender Blues Jr. a 3 channel amp now. Clean. mild breakup and full on rock/metal. Tones are very very very good. I also use a Mad Professor Golden Cello for my lead stomp pedal. I don't like any delay on my rhythm channels, just a bit of Verb. The Golden Cello give me that 15 db boost and just a touch of Delay, make it sing like a violin. The Blackstar pedal sounds just like my HT5 stack that I used to have. It's a beautiful thing and combined with the Golden Cello is a great pair. By the way I don't work for either GC for MF. This is one of the best designs for a pedal in years, well done Blackstar!
