OVERVIEW

Huge tube tone and wide-range flexibility.

The 45W Blackstar Series One S1-45 tube guitar combo amp delivers high-gain performance with a level of tonal refinement found previously only in the very best boutique and vintage amps. By switching both preamplifier and power amplifier parameters, the 2x12 S1-45 combo delivers both Class A style tones with a bell-like ring and classic push-pull crunch depending on the mode selected. The Infinite Shape Feature (ISF) control removes the limitations of traditional designs allowing you to tune the tone to exactly the sound you are looking for. Dynamic Power Reduction (DPR) can reduce the power down to 4-1/2W and MIDI switching and a series effects loop make this the ultimate pro's combo.

The S1-45 guitar amp's Clean Channel offers a no-compromise design, by featuring Bright and Warm modes. Each mode actually reconfigures the pre-amplifier voicing and power amplifier damping to reproduce either ringing Class A performance in the Bright mode, or crunchy Class AB tones in the Warm setting.

Blackstar also paid careful attention to the S1-45 combo amp's overdrive levels. Crunch mode covers the widest range of crunch gain levels from just on the edge clean break-up, to crushing modern rhythm tones. Super Crunch mode alters both gain levels and tonal shaping for maximum crunch flexibility. The overdrive modes are characterized by a tone which is high in gain, but lacks any of the detached top-end often found in many similar designs. This is a result of unique preamplifier and power amplifier shaping, which cleans up the overdrives beautifully as the guitar volume is reduced. But even at the most extreme settings, the overdrive channels remain natural sounding.

The ISF control is unique to Blackstar Amplification and represents a major step forward in its tone-shaping flexibility. This fully interactive control allows you to infinitely adjust the response of the tone control network between British and American voicings. This results in an infinite number of alternative tone choices.

Completing the tonal feature set is the DPR system. DPR reduces the power of the output stage from full power (45W) down to 10% (4.5W) and any power output in between. This means that the full tonal depth of the EL34 power amplifier can be enjoyed at any volume, making the S1-45 ideal for recording, smaller gigs and even home practice use. Working in conjunction with the power amplifier voltages, this method of power reduction suffers none of the loss in tone of other power reduction systems.

The tonal flexibility of the S1-45 is augmented by full MIDI implementation of the main channel and mode switching functions. Used in conjunction with outboard gear such as multi-effects units, MIDI allows a whole new level of creative performance to be explored.

Comments about Blackstar Series One 45 45W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Just wanted to add I did my first gig with this amp last night. So impressed with it I bought the Series One 100w head to drive my 4x12 and that is saying something because I love my JVM410H but really less is more. 2 channels of PRO sound. Big kudos to Blackstar!

Comments about Blackstar Series One 45 45W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

So here is my deal. I use a half stack on stage, I love my JVM 410H by the way, but I also hit a lot of jam nights and sit in with other bands. I wanted to stop dragging my old JCM 800 4212 around, it also sounds killer, and get a lighter combo. Well I failed because I ran into this deal! MF had a smoking deal going on this amp so I pulled the trigger. The Series One amps are legit and the sale price made it impossible to pass on it. Its heavy, 65 lbs. so I failed to get a light amp, but I am happy I stepped up to this amp. The more affordable Blackstar combos are decent too but they are not a S1 amp. I'm sure you have done your homework if you are looking at this amp so I'll just say it sounds FANTASTIC! The warm clean is so nice and with some gain breaks up and sound killer! The crunch channel is fat and warm and the super crunch channel its so thick and creamy! I've only been playing it for a few hours and felt compelled to review it. The amp KILLS. built like a tank, sweet tones, looks great. Adjustable from 4.5 watts to 45 so you can get killer tones at any volume. ISF feature so you go British or dial in a more American sound. Well done Blackstar this is one hell of amp. Well done MF, fast shipping and got a great deal on sale. I will add that reverb would be cool but I got that covered. Top shelf amp!

Comments about Blackstar Series One 45 45W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

i currently own a 1973 fender princeton, 1975 fender twin reverb, blackstar ht 60, and an egnater tourmaster. series one 45 is a huge upgrade from the ht 60 even though its 15 less watts you dont notice. the warm clean mode sounds fenderish like without the harshness of the highs. bass is defined and very clear. the bright clean mode is a little bright just as it says and sounds really vintage. crunch setting is perfect for classic rock to hard rock or country, it cuts well and best out of any amp ive owned. super crunch mode adds a tid bit more gain and actually raises volume a little which is perfect for solos. im using it via 4cm with my line 6 helix and can change channels midi with the helix while turning on delay/boost with one click. the helix is transparent through fx loop on this amp and the stomp box models sound amazing as well on helix through amp. hands down best amp. theres only one global 3 band eq but dont worry, what ever channel u set it for, its set perfect for both channels. blackstar really did their homework and they come loaded with g12 vintage 30 speakers. amp has tons of gain i have no need to turn up passed 12 o clock as it gets into metal territory.

Comments about Blackstar Series One 45 45W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I own a Marshall JVM, a Vox AC30, Fender Hot Rod Deville, and an old Hiwatt, and this Blackstar is probably my favorite. You can coax a range of sounds out of this thing. Some of my other amps have one thing that they do great, but the series one has multiple bases covered. The Clean channel can be spank and sparkle, or be fat and warm. The crunch goes from slight overdrive to awesome crunch and the super crunch picks up from there and generates some nice lead tones. It would be nice to have some reverb so I didn't have to fool around with another pedal, but short of that this is one heck of and map.
