OVERVIEW

EL34s deliver 100W of Blackstar's immense tube tone and incredible versatility.

The Blackstar HT Stage 100 tube amp head uses a quartet of selected EL34 power tubes to deliver 100W of British dynamics with 3 channels, delivering 6 modes for amazing tonal versatility. The 'boutique' style clean channel has 2 modes: 'British Class A' and 'dynamic US'. Each of the amp head's 2 ISF (Infinite Shape Feature)-equipped overdrive channels accesses a further 2 modes.

The Clean Channel has 2 modes, 'boutique' and 'modern' and its own Tone control provides a wide range of clean tones. The Voice switch reconfigures both the preamplifier voicing and gain structure, and the power amplifier damping, to reproduce either ringing Class A Performance in the 'boutique' mode, or very clean and tight Class AB tones in the amp head's 'modern' setting.

The Overdrive Channel on the Blackstar guitar amp head has its own EQ section and a Voice switch that allows the character of the channel to be changed, providing a wide variety of overdriven tones. The channel is characterized by a tone that's high in gain, but lacks any of the detached top-end 'fizz' often found in similar designs. This is a result of unique preamplifier and power amplifier shaping techniques, which cleans up the overdrive beautifully as the guitar volume is reduced. Even at the most extreme settings, the overdrive channel remains natural sounding. The Blackstar Venue HT-100H amp head's ISF control is unique to Blackstar Amplification and represents a major step forward in tone shaping flexibility.

The ISF control shifts the response of the 3-control tone stack between a US-type response at one end, and at the other a UK-type response. The Blackstar Venue tube amp head has an infinite number of alternative tone choices in between the 2 extremes that would be otherwise unavailable.

The Blackstar HT-100H amp head also features a completely natural sounding digital reverb, which is outstandingly musical on both clean and crunch tones and raises the benchmark for guitar amplifier specific reverb design. A Dark/Bright switch allows the overall reverb characteristics to be modified to suit different tastes and playing styles.

All things considered, I am extremely happy with this amp. The price was right, and more important, had the tone I was looking for. If you like a high gain/ hot rod Marshall tone that can cross over into Mesa overdrive and Fender cleans this amp may be for you.
This amp has enough features to satisfy most any guitarist. The clean is crystal clear with no dirt at all which is nice but doesn't seem to have the headroom I would expect from a 100 watt tube amp but considering I don't really need the volume it is more than adequate. The overdrive channels sound great. They both share the same EQ which is a bit of a bummer but they both have a mid shift switch and have a different level of gain so I can make it work. The ISF knob changes the overall tone of the amp to go from a Marshally high/mid range tone to more of a Mesa low/mid range tone. The reverb is nice sounding and the effects loop takes pedals nicely. The amp comes stock with EL34's but would be nice to have the option to use 6L6's.
Looks like it's built solid. No issue so far and the build quality looks very nice.
Not sure I would spend a whole lot more for the amp knowing that It's built overseas and there are several amp companies making amps in that price range.

an ok amp

Good clean channel (like a fender kind), distortion sounds like marshall but with bad mids. Sounds to plastic for my taste.

Comments about Blackstar Venue Series HT Stage HT-100H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

The gain on this head is extremely versatile. It will do anything from light classic rock/blues, all the way up to bands who play hardcore music is Drop C...

...but it wasnt the gain channels that got me. I was extremely surprised and blown away by its clean channel. Very warm, Fender DeVille-esq type feel and sound.

Only con I have for this head is that a decent amount of people complain about the stock EL34s being "meh" and the head being biased slightly cold. Those aren't hard fixes and more of a preference thing if you ask me.

Comments about Blackstar Venue Series HT Stage HT-100H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I was first introduced to Blackstar the same way most people were; I walked into a guitar store and plugged into one. The first one I played was the Club HT 40 combo amp, which completely blew me away. Incredible sounds and lots of versatility. But then I went home to see what else this company had to offer and I saw they came out with the Stage HT 100. My first reaction was "...a 3-channel tube head for THAT price? That's unheard of." I had never played the 100 watt version but by basing what I could remember from the 40 watt combo and how awesome it sounded, I decided to order the HT 100 with its matching HTV-412B cabinet from Musicians Friend. MF was very fast to ship and they arrived within a few days (I payed extra for the expedited shipping). Very well packaged and heavy duty boxes. I opened it up, plugged it in, strum an E chord and WOW. I was completely BLOWN AWAY by the absolute versatility and tonality this thing has. It's a very musical amp. I love the voice switches on each channel (which pretty much makes this a 6 channel amp) and the ISF knob that Blackstar has on their amps is a pretty cool concept. This thing just absolutely rocks. It goes from shimmering crystal clear clean with the voice switch engaged on channel one to a nice creamy Plexi-sound with the voice switch off, with just the right amount of breakup for some sweet blues sounds. Then you click over OD1 and get like a pushed JCM 800 kind of tone, but obviously with the ISF knob, you can dial in completely different tones on OD1 & OD2. OD2 is definitely a great metal channel. I'm pretty picky about my metal tones, but this thing exceeds my needs. Put the ISF knob on the American side and you've got yourself a Mesa Dual Rec tone (especially if you turn up the presence for that shimmery fizz), then mess with the EQ and I swear it sounds just like a 5150/6505. But everything about this amp is unique. It has a switch on the back to change the onboard reverb from dark to light (I prefer the dark sound, a little more subtle). Is just a great amp. I've played it through the matching cabinet that Blackstar recommends and through a Mesa with Vintage 30's in it. Both sound awesome, and as a V30 lover I was surprised to find myself liking the Blackstar cab more for this amp than the other. It was designed to play through he Seventy 80's in the HTV-412 and that's where it sounds best.
One cool tip though (and this has been well established by owners of this amp, you can google it, is to give the sound a little more ummph, try putting Tung Sol 12AX7's in the preamp over the stock ones. Just a little more grit, especially noticeable on OD1. But still, the stock ones sound killer too.
    Buy this head!!!!

Comments about Blackstar Venue Series HT Stage HT-100H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

If you can't get a good tone with this amp you either need a new cab with better speakers or you need an ear transplant.

I tried Mesas, Marshalls, Bogners, Oranges, Fender, Dr. Z, and a litany of other amps before deciding on this bad boy. For the price this amp just cant be beat. Sounds as good if not better than some 1,500+ amps I tried out.

You're going to have to spend some time dialing in the EQ and gain to get it to sound just how you want just like with any amp. Once you find the sweet spot this thing will keep up with any amp out there. I paired it with the Blackstar 4x12 cab that is meant for this head.

Volume/headroom wise you will not need more than this. I rarely turn the volume past half way. Even with earplugs in it's super loud and fills up any small/medium venue. Our band plays alternative rock (Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Weezer, etc.) and I can get any tone necessary to get the job done.

Excellent durability. Built like a tank and weighs almost as much as one. Weight is the only negative I can think of.

Highly recommended. If this ever breaks I will immediately go get another.

I'll make this short and sweet. 1.looks great! 2. Sounds Amazing! 3.You need a MARSHALL TONE, turn the ISF feature knob all the way to the left "Presto" There is ur MARSHALL TONE..u want that Brit tone? Turn the ISF clockwise..there ur..U want Usa Meets Britain..go 12 o'clock...u got the best of both worlds!
      4. Very LOUD, I suggest you put in some earplugs!
      5. price is right, for the sturdiness and precision of this amp.
      6. I have 2 12's Celestion's Vintage..i am in Heaven! All u need is this and your set!
      7. might I recommend a attenuator...? ...yes, this way if one lives in a small place and don't want to bug off your neighbors, the attenuator kicks butt! Rivera Rockcrusher builds a tank of a attenuator!
      8. feeling good playing this amp, no matter ur style the BLACKSTAR keeps up and then some!
      9. pay no attention to the negative reviews, these so called musicians are probably deaf, and don't know manure about tone!

      HT 100

Comments about Blackstar Venue Series HT Stage HT-100H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I'm in a metalcore band (similar to parkway drive) so I see alot of Peavy 6505s when my band is playing shows. The ht 100 is just as good (given you have good speakers in your cab). The ISF control really does wonders. You can get alot of great heavy sounds just but turing it. The lighter distortion channel is great for all kinds of rock. The clean just sings, especially with a dab of the digital reverb. When I've recorded this amp its hard to decide how it should sound becuase there are so many great options. Overall this amp is a really good value.

Comments about Blackstar Venue Series HT Stage HT-100H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Since is does weight under 10lbs and does not make coffee, I must give it a 9. Some may say the digital reverb is a downside to this amp (sounds OK to me). Well they may be right, but find another amp head with this wattage with these features and build--then compare prices. Remember, these are designed by ex-Marshall R&D techs.
Great Features--A clean and two overdrive channels. Presence and Resonance to boot with a reverb switch on the footswitch. And the "voices" and ISF knob for "fine tuning." Can get really creative with this amp.Easy layout so not to get confusing. The master volume helps me stay sane with my wife and neighbors. Does not make coffee so I cannot give this a ten.
Solidly built and and appears to be easy acces to the tubes when it is time to replace them. Yeah-it is a little heavy--but what do you expect from a 100 watt head with 7 tubes.
The tone shaping possibilites and the great clean makes this a great value. The clean "rings" when I play the lead for "Bad Boy"--an old song done by the Beatles. Smooth distortion--I did not realize how bad my other amp was until I started using this one.

      not that great

      By

      from US of A

Comments about Blackstar Venue Series HT Stage HT-100H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I have owned this product for a couple months now and I am not impressed. Simply because it doesn't sound good. The cleans are really bad and the distortion sounds like a stomp box not a true tube amp thick distortion.
I'm not going to lie, the features are good. reverb, voicing, 3 channels, isf knob. The creaters put a lot of thought into this amp.
its built pretty sturdy, I'm pretty careful with it but it think its average strength, I definitely wouldn't test it though going by the looks of it.
It is far overpriced for the quality of this amp. The amp is not worth the money not at all

Would reccomend a Gibson Les Paul for this one. I cranked mine up and my jaw dropped.
Holy Smokes, Every Feature on this amp is amazing. The clean channel has the best voicing i have ever heard, and the overdrive? Please, it blew me away the second that i swithched it over.
Not a flaw on my amp. works great, sounds great, and looks...Awesome
You can get ANY tone you want. ANY. from Fender to Marshall. all fully saturated and perfectly crafted, There is'nt a single amplifier out there that matches the versitility of the Blackstar Line. No matter your style, you'll get your money's worth outta this one, and probably a whole lot more, at $.

      SWEET AMP!!!

      By

Comments about Blackstar Venue Series HT Stage HT-100H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This amp is built like a brick s**t house. It has high quality components and has a very versitile sound. It's not difficult to find the sweet spot. The clean channel is very nice as well.
The tubes themselves are actually name brand, high quality. The EL34's are TUBE DOCTOR's
and the ECC82 & 83's are SOVTEK. (GOOD STUFF!)
I had a GENZ BENZ EL DIABLO which was really ballsy and cost $1600. I got rid of after buying this one for $849. I had no reason to keep it. This one sounds way better.
