EL34s deliver 60W of awesome tube power through 2 high-quality Celestion speakers in this nicely priced boutique combo.

The Blackstar HT Stage 60's selected duet of EL34s deliver 60W of glorious tube power through 2 high-quality Celestion speakers, making for a combo that will deliver every night, even in the most testing live environment. The Blackstar amp's 'boutique' style clean channel is extremely versatile with 2 modes: 'British Class-A' and 'dynamic US'. Each of the amplifier's 2 ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) equipped overdrive channels allows a further 2 modes.

The Clean Channel on the Blackstar HT-60 combo has 2 modes, 'boutique' and 'modern' and its own Tone control provides a wide range of clean tones. The Voice switch reconfigures both the preamplifier voicing and gain structure, and the power amplifier damping, to reproduce either ringing Class A Performance in the 'boutique' mode, or very clean and tight Class AB tones in the 'modern' setting.

The Overdrive Channel has its own EQ section and a Voice switch that allows the character of the channel to be changed, providing a wide variety of overdriven tones. The channel is characterized by a tone that's high in gain, but lacks any of the detached top-end 'fizz' often found in similar designs. This is a result of the Blackstar HT-60 guitar amp's unique preamplifier and power amplifier shaping techniques, which cleans up the overdrive beautifully as the guitar volume is reduced. Even at the most extreme settings, the overdrive channel on the Blackstar Venue HT-60 amplifier remains natural sounding. The ISF control is unique to Blackstar Amplification and represents a major step forward in tone shaping flexibility.

The ISF control shifts the response of the 3-control tone stack between a US-type response at one end, and at the other a UK-type response. The Blackstar tube amp provides an infinite number of alternative tone choices in between the 2 extremes that would be otherwise unavailable.

The Blackstar HT-60 guitar amp also features a completely natural sounding digital reverb, which is outstandingly musical on both clean and crunch tones and raises the benchmark for guitar amplifier specific reverb design. A Dark/Bright switch allows the overall reverb characteristics to be modified to suit different tastes and playing styles.

Blackstar HT-60 Stage

Features:

Great Feature set. This is one of the reasons I bought this amp. It has three channells, the clean and two higher gain channells and they all have two voicings. The voicing switches on all three defenitly fchange the sound, and the eq and isf controls are very nice. Maybe could use a 3 band on the clean channel instead of just the bass/treble dials but it hasnt seemed necessary. The reverb is pretty nice to have. Its not incredible, but it sounds decent and gets the job done.  It also has a resonance and presence control which are both nice. I havent tried the emulated out yet, but am defenitly glad its there for recording purposes, although I have my doubts. Emulated outputs generally sound pretty dissapointing. The foot switch is also a really essential feature IMO. THis way I can dial in each channel and switch live between them. Feature wise this amp is great. The only other thing that I would be thrilled to have would be a power attenuator, but that is not necessary.

Quality:

I just got the amp about a week ago, and it is very solidly built. Its heavy, well put together, and all the knowbs and whatnot are good and solid. Havent messed with tube biasing controls yet, so Im not sure how the guts are, but it feels solid.

For sound,

first off this thing is pretty loud. Its defenitly not for bedroom level playing. I do a lot of bedroom level playing, and you just cant get really good tone at low levels. This thing really wants to scream. It sounds much better when you can crank it up. When I first got it I was very dissapointed. It sounds very harsh and shrill. However it has been growing on me. AS the tubes and the speakers break in, it hs really started to cream up. Im getting my tone dialed in, and getting the feel for it and its starting to sound better.

Value:

I would say this is a great buy value wise. Its got a great features set, its good quality, and sounds pretty good. Also you can find 'em used or refurbished for really cheap.

Overall:

Overall, Its a very good amp. Im still getting warmed up to it, but I know it has a lot of potential. I would say this is a great entry level gigging amp.

Read the Manual

Features:

The Blackstar Stage 60 arrived just a few days after my order was placed.

It looks great.

A lot has been said about this Amp already. It sounded fine at my house,

but when I set it up at my Church it sounded kind of Dark and not as loud as

I had expected. I also had a hard time dialing in a good overdriven sound.

Back to the MANUAL. AH yes, make sure the speakers are connected to

the proper outlet of the amp. This should be the 1x16 ohms (last hole on the

left as you look at the back of the cabinet). BIG DIFFERENCE!!!

God Bless

Quality:

Top notch

Value:

Alot of bang for the buck!

Overall:

This is my first tube amp. I went from a solid state Marshall MG30 to this.

Value and Tone

| Review By: Slide-eiHl9 | 4 months, 1 day ago

1 people out of 1 found this review helpful

Features:

I didn't want or need built-in effects, modeling and such - I wanted good tone, both clean and dirty, and solid sound-sculpting controls - and all that I got!  The voice buttons really do something significant, especially on the clean channel, and the tone controls - including their proprietary and awesome ISF, are very effective at altering the end result, too.  This is one versatile tone monster.   But digital reverb?  Really?  Not that I use much reverb, hence my decision to buy anyway - but how much would a spring reverb have added to the cost?  That's why a 9 instead of a 10.

Quality:

I can see one minor flaw with a stamped metal corner protector that doesn't perfectly seat itself on the bottom left at the back.  Otherwise it's much better looking than the one I played at a local store - all the tolex is smooth and bubble-free, the hardware looks great and the pots feel appropriately snug as you turn them.  No vibrations or other unpleasant surprises - the Chinese factory did a good job with this unit.

Value:

Are you kidding?  Electrical emulation of everything from an AC30 to a Mesa, with Marshall sound "native" to the tubes - the voice buttons, ISF, quality speakers - all for a base price of $$$?  OUTSTANDING deal.

Overall:

I'd recommend to almost anyone needing tonal versatility without resorting to digital tricks.  This amp sounds natural and powerful, it's a great value and the tonal shaping features are above and beyond the norm, even for bigger name manufacturers.  The build quality is very good, too.
