Simply, a great cab that matches wonderfully with the PRS head.
It's an open back - 2 12 cab plain and simple. But the speakers are 1 ea. Celestion G12M greenback and 1 ea. G12H30 Anniversary. Nice woody tones can be had from this cab and it looks good! The perfect cab for my new PRS 2-channel C amp head.
Build quality appears good. Wood - NOT pressboard. A little big for a 2-12 cab but it nicely fills space with sound. Pushed it can get LOUD! Wish it came with casters but I went down to the local hardware store and took care of that right away.
I got it at a great price through Musician's Friend - I guess it was somewhat of a clearance. Now it appears to be no longer available. Glad I pulled the trigger right away!
I have to give it a 10 because it is such a good price. I mean look up the price of the speakers alone and then figure in the wood, tolex, feet, handle and grill cloth for the cab and WOW!
You can never go wrong with Celestion speakers and this one have 2 of them. Note: This is not loaded with 2 G12H speakers it has 1 G12H and 1 Greenback.
Built very well. Light weight but still strong.
Can't beat the value. I've been looking and it's not possible to get this quality of an open back cabinet for any better price. Note: This was after price drop, as long as price stays in this range it's well worth it.
Quite possibly one of the best open-backed 2 x 12 speaker cabinets available anywhere for overdriven, high-gain, and clean playing with solid-body guitars with either single-coil or humbucking pickups. Semi-hollow ES-335's love these cabs through tube heads and whatever effects you desire. Impressive and faithful reproduction of what you feed these cabs from your fingers/pick>guitar of choice>tube or s.s.head>fav effects>Bogner Alchemist Cabinet. If you prefer a pair of Vintage 30's, stick them in there and sell the Greenback(s) to make it a low-cost upgrade for your tastes, or simply upgrade the speakers in another amp or cab, minding the 25W power rating of the Greenbacks, or the Anniversary speaker(s,) whichever way you prefer to go, if at all. Two G12H-30's would be my dream pick, so I think I'll acquire two more and wire my pair up with Anniversary speakers and reconfigure to stereo wiring. Perfection in my book. This is splitting hairs though. As is, these are wonderful main cabinets, extension cabinets, or any use for a guitar loudspeaker cabinet where an open-backed (only about 25% of the back is open) 2 x 12 is desired. Excellent construction, fabulous sound, amazing deal, and works of art. You simply can't do any better right now for this particular application.
Only reason to dink these cabs a point here, which I hate to do, is the lack of standard removable casters. This cab weighs 58 lbs., which is 2/3 the weight of a quality, solidly-built 4 x 4 half-stack cab weighing 90 lbs. or so, such as Mesa, Marshall, and the lot. The cross-loaded design brings the dimensions in at 26" x 26", again with a full-sized, quality 4 x 4 cab coming in at 30" x 30". Only other wish would be for stereo wiring with independent grounds. For a high-quality cab, you would think this would be standard. It has one Celestion G12H-30 Anniversary speaker in the lower right-hand cross-loaded position, and a Celestion G12M-25 Greenback, in the upper-left position. Just check the Bogner site for the details. The speakers' combined power rating is 55W, but Bogner clearly states on the speaker jack plate a 40W maximum power input. You be the judge, jury, and hopefully not, the executioner.
Two of the best speakers made: The Celestion G12M-25 Greenback, and the Celestion G12H-30 Anniversary speaker - the love child between the Greenback and much-loved Vintage 30. The Greenback seems louder. I don't know if this is the placement, upper-left corner of the cab, the medium-weight magnet (the M in G12M-25 Greenback) versus the heavier magnet in the G12"H"-30 Anniversary speaker, or what other variable there could be responsible. It's only noticeable at very low volume levels, such as don't wake the wife at 3AM volumes in the den/studio. I think it's the lighter magnet letting things move more easily AND that it's higher off the ground. Maybe switching the placement would remedy this. Cab construction, cornerless Tolex work, and everything else screams quality on this extremely well-made cabinet. It's beautiful to just sit and look at it like a nice painting. Looks, quality, and performance - what more could you ask for, huh?
C'mon guys, and gals, if you play anything but chest-thumping Metal, this is your cab. BUY NOW before they are gone. Best value on the market today. Period.
This is an amazing sounding cab. Featuring 2 different classic Celestion speakers, it has a great dynamic and open sound. Being open backed, there's a fullness and roundness to the sound that you won't get out of a closed up half stack. No, it won't pound you with punishing low end but this cab is not for metal players, but it's superb for rock, blues and most everything else. It also weighs substantially less than a 1/2 stack so you can actually carry it around without help from a roadie. Graet cab, cool look, and at the new Bogner price points, a good value.
I just bought one of these cabs after the price was reduced to its current level. Its loaded with two premium Celestions that are very loud efficient speakers.
This is a great quality cabinet. The open back fills space very well and the celestion speakers are outstanding compared to what I upgraded from. The cornerless fitting of the tolex is a great touch. It looks very sharp. Matches the alchemist cab perfectly. My only complaint is that it is a bit expensive.
I think that for 700 bones you could set yourself up with a much higher quality cabinet. Your only getting a 2x12 here. Yes it looks nice with the head but I believe that's what you're really paying for.
