OVERVIEW

British combo amp tone and beyond!

The new BOSS BC-2 Combo Drive guitar overdrive pedal generates a classic "AC-inspired" British combo-amp tone in a compact pedal, but that's just the starting point. With a single knob, you can instantly control a variety of sound-character parameters, and quickly tap into a full spectrum of tone. Achieve the perfect vintage sound or dial into higher gain or cleaner tone across a wider frequency range than the classic amp could provide on its own. The BC-2 Combo Drive also offers a natural and dynamic response to your picking nuances at any setting. This easy-to-use yet technically complex pedal takes you from authentic vintage tone to expanded new-generation performance and sound.

The BC-2 Combo Drive's SOUND knob adjusts multiple parameters simultaneously across a range of zones. Smoothly transition from fat and clean tone in left zone to high-impact crunch in the upper zone and high-gain distortion in the right zone. Find the perfect classic setting or go beyond previous limits. Crank the SOUND knob to the DRIVE position, for example, and get a creamier high-gain tone than the classic combo could provide, as if you were driving the amp with an external booster. Likewise, if you turn the knob to the CLEAN position, you can clean up the tone across a wider frequency range than the original amp could deliver. A universe of great tone is as simple as a single knob twist.

Dedicated EQ knobs are provided for instantly sculpting your tone. The BASS knob provides direct control of the lower-frequency range; the TREBLE knob provides control of upper frequencies. A master LEVEL knob controls the overall volume of the pedal when it is turned on.

The input jack accepts signals from a guitar, another musical instrument, or another effect unit. This jack also doubles as the power switch. Power to the unit is turned on when you plug into the INPUT jack; the power is turned off when the cable is unplugged.
Road-Tough BOSS

BOSS compact pedals are world-famous for their great sound as well as their road-tough construction, consistency, and reliability. The BC-2 inherits this BOSS-proven design, offering guitarists a solidly constructed pedal that's built to withstand decades of demanding use.

this pedal is for everyone, the drive knob covers levels from smooth blues all the way up to heavy metal (the treble-y high pitched kind and the bassy drop F breakdown kind). can't go wrong with this, i have a good feeling about this one, boss outdid themselves for sure.
i first used the pedal at a shop in downtown conroe tx. i played on a fender strat with an FDR amp. the sound goes from a nice smooth tone (something i would use for blues) all the way up to what would be suited for heavy metal (this is all on the drive knob). the eq is really just a standard bass and treble, and the volume knob is the same as any other, but this pedal produces sounds that i have only heard coming from orange and marshall heads.
as all other boss stompboxes, this one is the same as the others, a hard metal casing with the rubber pad on the footpedal. 9v power in is at the top, so this is compatable with your daisy chain.
for the price, this thing can't be beat. if you're playing a decent guitar through a decent amp, you can pull out sounds that (like i said before) i have only heard coming from the pros at orange and marshall, a head like that can cost you around $2000 on a good day. of course this pedal cant beat the sound of a warm orange thunderverb, or a classic marshall, but the sound is d*** close, and i am not disappointed with the investment.

Comments about Boss BC-2 British Combo Drive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Excellent at giving a new eq tone to your amp. I mainly use this as a cleanish boost after my TS7 and Rat. Using it alone into my 1967 Bassman really gives it an AC30 flavor. Check Pete Thorns video. He demonstrates the BC-2 with his Bassman. I also use it with a Vox Ac-4 running into a 1x12 Greenback open back cabinet. Again it adds a nice toneful addition adding more harmonics to my ear. I really am pleasantly surprised that this pedal works so well. It also makes my other overdrives even better.

Comments about Boss BC-2 British Combo Drive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I A/B'd this against the Carl Martin AC-Tone, which costs almost twice as much. The Boss BC-2 won hands down. At low-gain, it gave more sparkle and Voxy chime. And at high-gain it retained much more clarity and note definition (the AC-Tone became muddy and "brown"). Yes, it's a lowly Boss stompbox and not a "boutique" pedal -- but if you want that classic British/Vox tone, it's amazingly good (and at 1/10 the price of an AC30, it's an amazing deal). Highly recommended

Comments about Boss BC-2 British Combo Drive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I own this pedal as well as the Boss St-2, OS-2 and Mega Distortion. The OS-2 and Mega Distortion pedals sound good but dated, they sound like distortion pedals, where as the BC-2 and ST-2 pedals sound like actual amplifier designs with adjustable levels of gain. Get the BC-2 if you want british combo type response and then some, or get the ST-2 if you want that stack sound and drive. These pedals are essentially amplifiers in a pedal, they respond more like their representative amplifier than they do a distortion pedal.

Comments about Boss BC-2 British Combo Drive Guitar Effects Pedal:

By far this is the best overdrive pedal I have ever used, and it has finally completed my search for the perfect sound. I am currently playing a Gibson SG and Les Paul through a Fender 57 Twin and Twin Reverb, and this pedal has provided the perfect overdrive for any style of music. Definitely a small price to pay for such great sound. Just buy it, and you will understand what I am talking about...

Just a great sound if ( like me) your looking for a tasteful represention of british tones and you didn't have the budget to get a vox.
I listened to many demosand many styles of music this was used on and i was sold. Flexible and useful sounds.

Comments about Boss BC-2 British Combo Drive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was looking for a pedal that would effectively replicate the distinctive sound of a hard-driven AC-30 and, in my opinion, the BC-2 delivers!

I have always loved the sound of U2's Bullet the Blue Sky and with the BC-2, I finally have found a simple way to get that sound out of my current rig. I just plugged the pedal into my Traynor Dark Horse, set the preamp to "Pure" (which bypasses the tone controls) and let 'er rip! I found very genuine AC-30 tones at all positions of the Sound knob, but I really love the harmonic overtones of the Crunch and Drive settings.

After playing with the pedal for a couple of hours, it seems to me that the BC-2 is everything that BOSS claims it to be. I could not be happier with my purchase. Thank You BOSS!

I bought 3 pedals to compare ... Tube Screamer and Blues Driver and checked each one out ....
Used a Les Paul Studio and Fender Deluxe Blues
Tube Screamer personally was disappointing did not offer the quality of sound I wanted .. the Blues driver was ok .. but did not hold up to the combo..which allowed me flexibility with sound, tone and volume .. the crunch ascertained was dynamic and sweet .. I love this pedal .. I must say the best way to judget for yourself is take them home and check a bunch out to make sure you can really understand which is really good for your sound and ears.
