I tried the digitech bass multi chorus. My buddy has one too. It does sound a little more funky than the Boss bass chorus, but the overall quality and durability of digitech does not compare to Boss. Sure your going to get funky sounds from the digitech multi-chorus but you don?t get as good of sound and mechanical quality. (buzzing, falling apart, bad jacks/dials) Also, the Boss chorus is not that bad of a pedal if you know what your doing with it. It's a pretty simple pedal with basic controls. You can get used to getting the sounds you want out of it within like less than a month. At least I did. And the sounds can get pretty cool. The low filter kicks butt too. It allows you to play the funky lines without having the lower notes distort the sound of the higher octave notes, or harmonics, or whatever. Good for jammin when you don?t want to drown out other players but still want to be heard. Bottom line is, if you want to spend like eighty bucks on a bass pedal, your going to eventually be dissatisfied with it. Most of the tiny box effects that Digitech and Boss make don?t even override the initial signal from your bass. However, I loved this pedal when I first got it, and I loved for like six months. I used it with a Peavy basic 112 and a Shecter Diamond Series custom four string bass. Now I'm selling this pedal and some other gear to get some more expensive electro-harmonics effects. Although this pedal is honestly kind of cheap, it?s the best for its range of product.

I purchased the Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus and was extremely disappointed. It does not thicken your sound enough, and I tried many different settings. I returned it for the Digitech Multi Bass Chorus. This was better, but still not great. Unbelievable as it may seem, the Zoom 708 II has a much better chorus. Unfortunately, it has the worst hiss and drives me crazy! I'll stick with the Digitech Multi Bass Chorus for now, but it seems they need to manufacture these pedals with a bit of reverb to make the sound better & wider.

Great Bass Effect. Excellent Sound. Good Value.

    By Arnold Cua

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

The Boss Bass Chorus CEB-3 has a rich sound & texture that enhances my overall sound. I was initially worried whether it would mess up the low tones played on the E & low-B string, but it turned out to be amazingly clear & defined still. Also, it has so very little noise as compared to my previous other multi-effect bass box. This is quite a plus feature. The learning curve on adjusting the dial controls & getting the different sounds you want is not too difficult. The manuals have suggestions on different settings.

One particular item this goes well with is with a fretless bass. The sound is superb with mild-moderate chorus setting. Too much chorus gets the sound hollow & muddy.

The body is sturdy and anticipatingly would be able to take some hard miles. The click-foot switch is also quiet & sturdy too. The output has available stereo layout.

I bought a reliable AC adaptor power supply for it as I was playing & practicing more hours with it. The 9V battery lasted me some 5 days.

For the enthusiastic bassplayers out there, this is a good value indeed.

    Not bad for the money!

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

A good bass chorus pedal, great buy for the money! I discovered after a while I was looking for a "better" chorus sound, or more depth and modulation. This ended up not having everything I needed in a bass chorus pedal, but it doesnt make it a bad pedal. If youre on a budget, this is a good buy.
Good pedal but personally, I need more depth in my bass chorus than this has.
    Pretty good

    LOVE IT!!!!

    Worth it!
I have owned this pedal for 9 years and has NEVER let me down. Playing in a cover band all these years this pedal has brought depth and thickness to all of our slow songs and fattened up some of our rockers. I have used this pedal with country bands and rock bands. You cant go wrong with whatever genre of music you are playing.
I need to invest in the BOSS Phaser pedal for Stranglehold by the Nuge but this pedal works great for the bass groove. Out of all the pedals I own this one and the BOSS TU-2 tuner are my mainstays!!!!! WORTH THE MONEY AND THEN SOME!!!!!!!!!!
    It's a BOSS! Built like a tank!

Great sound quality, control and construction

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

I don't always use the effect but when I do it certainly adds a nice dimension to my fretless bass tone
The control over the frequency range that the chorus affects is a GREAT feature. I wish more effects had this.
No noise, built like a tank, quite switching, no tone degradation when off
I don't think anything in its price range can touch it. Probably you have to go 2-3x its price to improve the quality.

    excellent bass chorus

    By upIHg.OBE

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

The effect level and low cut controls are well executed. I found this pedal has a lot of control over a *useful* range for the effect. I use it bypassed most of the time and there is no "tone suck". Yes it isn't true bypass, but BOSS's buffered bypass is one of the best in the business.
The controls are well thought out. I find this works very well with a fretless bass.
No hiss, no loss of highs or lows and no headroom problems (with my hot active basses) whether the effect is engaged or not.

The chorus effect is not outrageous, but I think it has plenty of range to tweak your tone.

The thing is built like a tank, just like all of BOSS gear.
I haven't tried other choruses, but I am very happy with this one. I think it is reasonably priced for the quality it has.

The secret is in the low filter

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

This is my favorite bass chorus pedal. It does what you expect chorus to do, but the real secret is the low filter. The ability to leave the lowest frequencies unaffected while applying chorus to the highs was something I was really searching for. A recording engineer recently praised it when I used it at a session too.

Wonderful once you find a good setting

    By Reaper's Red

    from Centreville, VA

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

I've had this pedal for a couple years now. It still works very well. The tough thing about it is finding out how the knobs work, honestly. The manual does not do a very good job of explaining this. The way I think of them:Effect level: volume of the effect, no problems there.Low Filter: adjusts what frequencies to which the chorus effect is applied. On the "cut" side, the effect is applied more towards the higher frequencies, cutting out any pitch variation on the low end. On the "flat" side, the chorus effect is applied better to the entire tone.Rate: the speed at which the pitch variation is applied.Depth: how much the pitch is varied by the chorus effect. Many of the settings are very subtle when applied to a bass signal. There are a few that are noticeable enough for solo work, and finding ones that fit you are important.Very nice piece of equipment in general. As far as power adapters go, it takes a 5mm outer diameter/2.1mm inner diameter pin-negative plug. This is fit by not only the adapter Boss wants you to buy, but also any of the standard daisy chain plugs, as well as the Radio Shack M-sized Adaptaplug product, which can be connected to their AC-to-DC adapters. It took way too much research to find this out.

    Regular Bass Chorus

    By Zikarot

    from Argentina

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

Itself nothing peculiar, I don't regret buying this pedal but still not fully convinced. I don't know if the DigiTech Bass Chorus is better (that was my other choice), but this pedal is quite boring. At max depth and half rate you can have a nice, warm chorus, but higher rate will only produce a wierd spacial effect and lower depth would mean... almost no chorus at all. I liked the low filter and eq though.

    Great All-Around Effect

    By The Se3ker

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

I finally grabbed this pedal after trying out a bunch of other effects. I wanted to get something that I could tailor to a bunch of different sounds, but mainly to add a little something extra to solos. I tried this out and it blew me away! The effect level and depth knobs give a huge amount of control over the chorus sound. The Low Filter knob allows you to apply the effect only to certain frequencies (all the way down applies only to the high-end, full up applies to low frequencies too). I personally feel that the rate knob is best left a 12 o'clock, but turning it up more makes a cool kind of tremolo effect. Rush fans, try mixing a light chorus effect with an overdriven/distorted signal to get a great Geddy sound. So overall, this is a great pedal at a great value!
