OVERVIEW

A compact pedal that delivers perfect distortion tones in every register.

Powered by Multi-Dimensional Processing technology (MDP), the DA-2 Adaptive Distortion delivers ideal distortion tones wherever you play on the guitar neck.

Multi-Dimensional Processing for Superior Tone
Roland's innovative Multi-Dimensional Processing (MDP) analyzes audio signals in many dimensions and applies ideal effects to each. By giving different dynamic changes relative to the input signal in real time, MDP can create bold, all-new sounds with a previously unattainable range of expression.

DA-2: Ideal Distortion Across Your Guitar's Entire Range
Unlike standard distortion pedals that process the entire guitar signal with one effect, the DA-2's Multi-Dimensional Processing employs multiple distortion processors to seamlessly adapt the sound in real time and create the ideal tone for every register. As a result, the DA-2 delivers a rich, musical distortion that plays well all over the neck, from tight, edgy low-string tones to fat, smooth highs for lead playing. With the power of MDP, the DA-2's distortion is dramatically responsive to your playing dynamics, and every note is heard with clarity and definition.

FEATURES
  • Next-generation BOSS compact pedal with innovative Multi-Dimensional Processing, realized with proprietary technology and custom DSP
  • Distortion that adapts to create the ideal sound in every register
  • Ultra-responsive to volume changes and playing dynamics
  • High-clarity sound, even when playing two or more notes at the same time
  • Very low noise, even with high-gain settings

A new dimension in effects. Own it today.

Comments about Boss DA-2 Adaptive Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal sounds like compression is built in.
When played by itself it sounds great, and it seems to help you flow like compressors do.
But, when I side by side it with some of my other OD pedals it sounds like it's playing in the background, if you know what I mean. With that much difference it makes it hard to stack because it always kills the tone.
It has some really good points but when push comes to shove, it sits in my pedal box not on my pedal board.

Comments about Boss DA-2 Adaptive Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Boss really did a decent job on this pedal. I also own the classic DS-1 and this pedal picks up right where that one left off. Where the DS-1 is more of a classic Marshall type of distortion I think this pedal has more of a modern style. I am amazed at the clarity of all the strings even when the distortion is cranked. Many other pedals that I have tend to get muddier as the gain is increased and attempting to play an open chord is useless, with this thing you can hear every note perfectly. The pedal has knobs that control the bass and treble and they are very responsive. The pedal does great tones from low gain all the way to Metal territory...I think I may have found the perfect distortion pedal.

Comments about Boss DA-2 Adaptive Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is the best, distortion pedal that I have owned and trust me I have owned a few.

It is clean, it is mean and it responds perfectly. My son purchased one and after hearing his, I got my own three weeks later!

I have to mention the trim pots. Many of us know that 0-10 often means little on a guitar or accessory, but on this pedal every notch counts!

Get one! They are many more times worth what they charge for them! All pro's and no cons here!

Comments about Boss DA-2 Adaptive Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've had many distortion pedals over the years (40, to be exact) and I've found the only one I'll ever need - how I wish it was available 40 years ago! Whether I am playing softly or hammering on the strings with this pedal, I get very clear, crisp, perfectly blended tones, even at very high volume. There simply is no muddiness or "noise" with this pedal. I play both single coil guitars and guitars with humbuckers, and these both sound fantastic - nothing get's lost in over modulation, which is more common with other distortion pedals. The construction is the same super-high quality I expect from Boss effects pedals, and the separate Low and High control knobs permit a very wide swath of low subterranean growling, to warm mid-tones, all the way to teeth-shattering highs. Combine this with a good Overdrive pedal and an Echo/Delay Pedal, and the otherworldly, ambient sounds you can achieve are unlimited.

Comments about Boss DA-2 Adaptive Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This DA2 is so good it's causing me to re-think my entire pedalboard. All the reviews regarding the incredible clarity are true. I thought I was getting a good sound with my TC Nova Drive/ Zoom G92tt /Sonic Maximizer/ Mesa Boogie 50/50. But side by side, the Boss DA2 DESTROYS my Nova Drive! I've already mentioned the clarity, but the gritty, mean dirt of the DA2 has to be heard to be believed! It seems like humbuckers and heavy gauge strings (and of course, tube amplification) bring out the best in this pedal. It grabs quite a lot of hum when using single coils. Some have mentioned the "fizzy" sustain, and its is there on more extreme distortion settings, but it does'nt deter me from using it, especially in a live setting, the fizz wont matter much. People will be commenting about the clarity, not the fizz.

Comments about Boss DA-2 Adaptive Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is it. It's hard to put this pedal into words. It is almost like the pedal is intuitive and knows when and how to respond to what you play. For the money this is a no brainer.

Comments about Boss DA-2 Adaptive Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Cleanest sounding mid-level gain distortion pedal I've encountered. If a metal song has some clean parts in it you don't need to switch this baby off, like its namesake it literally adapts to what you play. I played with this pedal for hours with an Ibanez Destroyer in guitar center and even with gain maxed out the clarity is amazing, definitely rivals my OKKO Dominator in some ways.

This pedal to me rivals some boutique pedals which I own, is very quiet and responds so well to picking dynamics. I also like the fact that it doesn't take up so much real estate on my pedal board. Nice match for a strat or humbucker equipped guitar, impressive.
