I got this delay pedal based on the reviews that I read here and on other websites. I do not use alot of delay, just a light amount with some chorus for clean stuff. I have wrestled with the whole anolog versus digital argument that everyone seems to have a different opinion on and I finally decided that I realy don't care and since I do not use alot of delay anyways, I was't willing to pay a huge amount of money for a quality anolog delay, but I also wanted something that would last me a while and so, again based on al the reviews I have read, I went with the Boss DD-6. I am still learning the pedal but to me this thing sounds awesome, especially for my intended purpose. I can say that this thing has a wide range of useful delays that would,I assume, suit just about anyones needs. I am not however impressed with the Hold function, to me it's pretty much useless only having 5.2 seconds of recording time, but I didn't buy it for the added bells and whistles although the warp and reverse functions are pretty nice and work well once you figure them out. This pedal seems to be built well and it has a five year warranty from Boss which is nice. As I said, this thing has a wide range of delay for most, (I don't know why anyone needs more than this offers), and it does what it's intended for and does it well.

This is a great effect pedal, plenty of options, and very playable. On the other hand, if you don't have 5 bucks in your pocket to buy a new 9 volt battery every day, watch out. This thing is a power vampire! You can only get a few good hours out of it before it dims out. Just hope you're not using it during a show...you might miss out on that great solo opportunity! I still really like it though.

Mmmmm...

This delay sounds really cheasy. It doesn't have a nice delayed tone. It sounds dead. When ran through your amp it totally ruins your tone. My 5150 amp sounds so much brighter and better without this delay. Yeah, it's not too noisy and it has tap tempo, but it kills your tone. Don't buy it. Buy something better.

I've heard nothing but good things about this pedal and they're all true. I bought this back in November of 2007 and it's a great addition to my rig.

Excellente!!!

I have two problems with this pedal that every live player should read.1) If you sing and play and don't like to be distracting, you will not like having to bend down between songs to switch the knob for a different delay time. Get fast at switching with your foot, and good at tapping fast to minimize switching rates.2) The tap function is great except that the delay goofs up for a split second when returning to the main function. If possible, switch back when not playing to minimze cluttering your sound, if only for a second.Great pedal. Skip a lunch or 2 and spring for the DD-20 instead.

reverse wasn't like tape delay, but if you like space age and making weird sounds this pedal does it.

excellent delay

has a good analog sound compared to the line 6 delay(although the line 6 has a lot more features). I think this delay sounds the best, most natural of all the delays. Eats batteries (but most people use a powersupply anyway)

Awesome Delay, I've owned it for about a year now. My favorite thing about it is it's quality, not only physically, its built like a tank, but also just the way it sounds, i've pumped all sorts of different sounds and effects through it, with the pedal itself on some pretty radical settings just so see how far I could push it and it held up great. The reverse delay is cool, I don't really use the tap mode but sometimes I use it as a reverb, or just to add a nice glossy blues sound. If I could only have one pedal in my lineup it would be this one (i use tube distortion).

theres is not a single word in my ...stunded?...vocabulary to describe this god-like phenomenon of a "pedal"...this thing has every deley effect, and pedal known to man kind it self in a 3x5 box: I got this pedal about hmm 5 horus ago and i cant stop messing with the knobs..i had to make charts so i could memorize settings for songs, theres an endless amount of deley/feedback effects you can do with this. and it makes the best odd noises for intros..what i recomend is if you have another lower end delay pedal with stereo capabilitys is put it right after the DD-6 and trust me...you will loads and loads of fun... this pedal gets a 12 from me..10 is not enough..and neither is 12....

this was my first boss pedal and it performs nicely at home and onstage. It has a lot of features and possibilites. even if you don't need delay for a song, you can still use it to give a good presence.

i play bass, but this pedal is incredible. the multiple modes, and the 5.2 seconds of delay time (on long mode). before i had this, i had the DD-5 (out of print) but this beats it by a longshot.this is boss's best pedal, besides the bass synth

controlling all time and space

It's so easy to single boss because of their wide range of functions in their units. Normally i'm not a fan of this, but the first time of plugged in the dd-6 i had to have it. This little 3 by 5 inch box open my perception of time and space, this box allows to control all of both. An insane amount of delay time is provided with ease and classic slap-back sounds are found effortlessly. The tone is amazingly warm for a digital effect. Radical effects are obtained via warp and reverse modes. Speaking of reverse, max out the "e.level" and you get weird vibrato-like and reverse delay volume swelling sounds. The hold mode found on all boss delays is especially useful on the dd-6 due to its considerable 5.2 seconds of loop time. So if you need multiple delay times or some expansion of your sound arsenal or if you just want to have some control over time and space the dd-6 is for you. Personally I will never use another delay unless Boss makes this one better, which i can't see happening. I hope I was of some help. Happy hunting.

Good & Bad

I guess I was somewhat spoiled by my previous GT-8's ability to create such varied delay effects with such ease, that when I got this pedal I was somewhat dissapointed. But once I started messing around with it, I truly discovered its capabilities. However, if I were you, I'd throw down the extra cash and get the Boss DD-20.

Great for real original music

By Max-N9T22

I bought this pedal afew days ago and I am amazed and its versatility and complexity. Yes it takes a day or two to understand what to do... but after you do it becomes one of the coolest pedals you'll ever own. I can now achieve sounds that are in no way possible otherwise. The number of things you can do on this pedal are amazing. If you want to make weird spacy dark full sounds... this is the pedal for you. or even if you just want some radical effect to your playing this is for you. Or even just simple delay.

A Personal Favorite

This is probably the most used pedal I have. The features are amazing, I think it's safe to say that the Line 6 delay modeler is a step up from this pedal, but it's probably the next cheapest pedal, next to this, for it's features, and the Line 6 runs over ** dollars. This is simply the best delay pedal for the price.

The Master of Delay

By Bobby-lhaF0

I got this delay after wanting it for like 3 years, and I got to tell you it is above and beyond what I thought it would be! It has one of the most versitile delays I've ever experimented with not to mention all the bells and whistles. This delay is the greatest thing to happen to my writing and worth every penny. So if your looking for something to help with creativity or just a great delay pedal, the dd-6 is for you!!

Don't Delay on This Delay

It is awesome. A guy at a guitar shop played this pedal for me and it "had me at hello." The only thing that could make it better is if the loop lasted for 10 seconds instead of 5.2sec. A must have for any guitarist.

Great Delay Pedal

By Fergymalergy

from Calgary, Alberta, Canada

See all my reviews

This is truly the 'Boss' of delay pedals. You can do some seriously entrancing things with it. I love the reverse effect, playing licks to sound like theyre tape-reversed. You could play some serious psychedelia with this thing. I would hazard that it is THE pedal for anyone who wants to do some whacked out, psychedelic things on a guitar. I even found a setting to make the guitar sound like an old sixties spring echo reverb that my amp doesn't quite create, which was an amazing boon. And if you don't have a drummer/tempo machine, you can jam with yourself using the hold loop effect. I did guitar string scratching to establish an interesting African-style groove and just played over it for what seemed like at least an hour. This thing is endless fun and extremely versatile and useful. Buy this pedal; you won't regret it!! (I didn't)

Good Value, but Battery issues hold it back

By Parker-eCg5x

from Whitby, Ontario, Canada

I love this pedal. It can give you the greatest delay you'll ever need. For Solo's, Hard Riff's, and Room ambience Sounds, this pedal is amazing. Asides from the conventional delay, this pedal offers awesome Reverse, Warp and Hold functions. The Reverse function is astounding for psychadelic and progressive music and the warp function is good for loud intro or the beginning of chorus's. The Hold function can take a bit of getting used to, and this thing just drains the life out of batteries, but read the instruction manual, and get an adapter and you'll have no trouble with this pedal.Even though it's a tad bit more than the DD-3, it's definitely worth the extra money!Get it, trust me, it's worth it.
