Similar to the GT-10 (though definitely improved), this multi-effect pedal delivers everything Boss/Roland promises. The manual mode is great at providing the sense of having 8 stomp boxes at your feet at once. Other great features include the amp control (which allows you to switch channels on your amplifier if the amp is recognized by the GT-100). Also, the accel-function is a new nice little addition to the board.
There is almost too much to alter with within each patch: eq (pre and post effects), pedal functions, compression, distortion/overdrive, amp-modelling, noise gates, delay, chorus, reverb, effects (tremlo, slicer, flanger, phaser, etc), and much more. I've been using this device for about 20+ play hours and am still finding new features to adjust. The Dual Screen (new to GT100) is really helpful.
Boss really made this multi-effect pedal versatile while also more simple to use than the GT-10.
Great pedal. I would recommend it for anyone regardless of genre. This device produces great tone for Rock, Blues, Alternative, Metal, etc.
Gear:
ESP LTD ---> GT-100 ---> Roland JC 120
I also use an MXR Noise Gate (for quick adjustment during occurrence of unwanted hiss and hum) as well as Boss Power Stack pedal for additional distortion options.

I REALLY wanted to like this. I've always loved Boss pedals. I play through a Roland (who own Boss) JC-120 amp for 30 years. I've never had a single problem with it and still love everything about it (except the distortion effect). But all the GT-100 feels like, is a series of old pedals packed into one unit. It seems restrictive in that you can't use the same type of pedal more than once when putting a preset together (i.e. multiple distortion units, delays or reverbs for shoegaze or ambient sounds). If you can do this, I'm sorry, but I can't figure out how to. The software librarian is nostalgic in that it looks like it was meant to be used with Cakewalk v.1 on Window 3! The USB interface has alot of latency when connecting to your computer (I thus have to go direct in through my sound card and use one of it's channel inputs up).
All the above is very sad because this should and very well could have been a great unit. With the arrival of VST based units such as Amplitube, Guitar Rig, Pod Farm and so on, the sky's the limit for stacking pedals and building the exact sound you want. Frankly, for the high cost of unit, you're basically buying a computer in a heavy duty box with pedals attached. So why not let it have the same capability and adaptability as its software based competition? If it did, these units would fly off the shelves!
The GT-100 (like most Roland / Boss gear) is actually built very tough and can take some abuse! Every gigging musician would drool over the opportunity to have the power this unit should without worrying about ruining their PC/Mac. The all in one concept also lets you chain fx without all the extra noise that comes with patching individual analog pedals together with analog chords.
The GT-100 unit comes with 200 preset slots and 200 for users to fill themselves. Most of the presets sound old and have been heard countless times on countless units. I really don't want to sound like Boston or Dire Straits or even Eric Clapton or The Edge. I haven't wanted to play Hotel California, Aqualung or Highway to Hell for at least 20 years already.
The other feature I was looking forward to was the ability to use the board to control fx individually like a true pedalboard. While you sort of can do this, it appears you only have access to about 4 fx at a time instead of being able to assign all 8 switches to different fx units.
Come on Boss / Roland - Get it together and move into the 21st Century and give us our money's worth of new sounds! Also, for the high cost of this unit why cant Boss give you a friggin' A/B switch? As usual, they're always out to get you for even more money no matter how much you spend. Many of the importable presets from the iconic GT-10 will require the purchase of an A/B switch in order to make use of that function and hear the second channel without switching through the computer or bending down to the ground and figuring out which of the 8 dials dies the job.
In summary, the unit definitely sounds good and is built Boss tough. However, the onboard presets are a huge disappointment as is the lack of ability to really set up your own presets using multiple incidences of the same pedal.

Comments about Boss GT-100 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
This is one AMAZING piece of equipment. It is built like a tank, and runs like a dream. I use a 52 Tele Hot Rod and a Les Paul Standard Satin. It has specific settings for both and the ability to tweak those as little or as much as you want. Not to mention a truck load of other settings, and I mean a Truck Load.
I have been playing about 3 hours a day on this for the last week. I have barley scratched the surface of what this equipment will do. Also can be upgraded from your computer. If you do get one, go to the Roland site first, and download the drivers for your computer. Then you can do the upgrades without problems. I have nothing but good things to say about mine.

Comments about Boss GT-100 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
MAYBE I'M BEING LAZY BUT I CAN LITERALLY DIAL UP WHAT I WANT QUICKER ON MY OLD GT-3, TUNER, AMP MODEL, EFFECTS, AND ALL. IT'S SUCH AN INTUITIVE LITTLE MULTI WITH COSM TOO. THIS GIANT THING SHOULD HAVE HAD MORE OLD TUBE MODELING AND QUICK PATCHES FOR BLUES AND STANDARD CLASSIC ROCK - SORRY BUT WE'RE NOT GOING TO GO AWAY JUST BECAUSE THEY CRANK OUT JUNK GENRES ALL THE TIME THAT GET AIRPLAY GALORE. THIS PEDAL CAN BASICALLY DO ANYTHING, BUT, EH, MAY BE SLIGHTLY OVERPRICED AND GIMMICKY. TOO MUCH METAL. THEY WOULD HAVE HAD ME MORE HAPPY EVEN WITH A FREE CASE FOR THE AMOUNT I DROPPED. YOU STILL WILL WANT ONE IF YOU LIKE TO PLAY. IT'S NOT SUBSTANDARD OR ANYTHING. IT JUST DID NOT TURN OUT TO BE AS "NECESSARY" AS I ANTICIPATED, ESPECIALLY AT THAT PRICE. I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT ANOTHER AX AND JUST LIVED WITH MY GT-3 AND OTHER STOMPS AND WAHS.

Comments about Boss GT-100 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
I love it. I had a Boss ME-70, it's the same type of set up procedures. Very similar programming but just a lot more options. It has, more pedals to select, and in manual, much more switching power. Very easy to adjust to your own particular sound; I didn't have to read the manual to get started, it's a man thing but I like it. Mine is plugged into two tube amps so the amp modeling was not a big thing for me, I just had to make sure the modeling was bypassed.
The sound possibilities are heavenly.
CONS: Don't sell your looper yet, like on the ME-70 the loop is only 38 second, with the price of memory I think it's a big flaw not to make it at least a couple of minutes, then the artist is not scared/limited of running out of time.
CONS2: The preprogrammed sound are mostly for rockers, I wish they would have had more for Blues/Jazz/Old rock guys like me. Mind you I can easily get the sound I want by playing with the adjustments but, I wish they would have helped me a little more.
So because of the short looper and mostly heavy rock programming, I'll give it a 9/10.

Comments about Boss GT-100 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
I've been an owner of the Boss GT line since the GT-6. Previous version had its limitations however GT-100 is like comparing day and night. I perform live and also record professionally. I've had the GT-100 for a week and sound quality is awesome regardless of using headphones, digital amp, tube amp or PA. Very easy to customize based on output selected. I've been playing for 30+ years and work hard to obtain the quality of sound that represents my style.

First go to Roland and download their Floorboard, Driver, and Library software for the Gt-100. Using the software will make it super easy to Customize the sound you like for YOUR rig. Also most of the GT-10 patches on the Internet will work perfectly with your new toy which means almost any sound is readily available to you. I've only had mine for a little over a week but with my blues Jr amp and Fender Am. Strat I can get everything from Eric Johnson to Van Halen. What more do you want....

Comments about Boss GT-100 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
Got this unit shortly after it was released. Have not been disappointed. It is built like a tank and very easy to navigate. I used it in front of my stock fender pro junior 3 tube amp as a effect unit only because the tube amp colors the sound of the gt100 amp models. So I got myself Alto ts10 pa speaker and I will test that combo when it gets here. I did use headphones with the gt100 and its amp models sounded better than going thru my tube amp.
This is my first multi-effect unit so I can't compare it sound wise with others on the market. I think the next step up would be the kemper modeller for me. I just wanted something cheap and functional for now and this gt100 delivers. I didn't like the hd500's navigation screen. I didn't like the fixed routing on other units like digitech's, etc. 11rack was too expensive and needs a foot controller. I think this gt100 is the best of all of them because it does so many things well. Love the strong foot pedal and push. buttons. I updated mine to latest firmware and it was easy to do following roland's instruction on their website.
I don't use any of the stock presets and I build my own from scratch. Very easy and fun to do. Definitely recommend downloading extra documentation like parameters info from roland's website. The unit comes with a basic manual to get you started. No software or usb cable included. It's a very flexible unit and anyone who digs deep into the unit will find a way to do most of what they need to do.
