Suppress the noise without squashing your sound.

The Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor Pedal effectively eliminates noise and hum from the input signal while preserving the original sound's tonality. Natural attack and envelope remain unaffected by suppression of the noise components.

The highest-quality effects don't help if your guitar is generating a lot of noise. This unit solves the problem. Put it in the cart.

This pedal does what you need folks. i've had this pedal for the past 2 years and im here to tell you that this is best noise gate i've used BY FAR!! I use a ton of gain and this thing just keeps everything nice and tight. This will take a bit for me to explain, but this will be VERY helpful. Here's my rig; 5150 > NS-2(OUT) and (IN) to my wireless. NS-2(RETURN)>CH-1>SD-1>JD-4S>ZW WAH>NS-2(SEND). Set the Threshold to 3'o clock and use the volume knob on your guitar to control the amount of gain you want and you're set. Just turn the pedal on and leave it alone! I couldnt be happier with my setup(that is until i get a HUSH Super C for the efx loop!)

I should start by telling you all that i play modern metal, not classic rock or anything close. I bought this pedal a few years back hoping to squash out the hiss in my amp due to my use of an overdrive in front of the amp.I used it in front of my amp with a ts9 in its little effects loop. it was very difficult to get the start-stop quick djent style stuff i wanted without a feedback remnant always cutting in. also, there was a noticable amount of cut on any palm-muted notes and really any note played would not sustain naturally. any setting on the decay would not help. but, i had to have the threshold up pretty high to knock out the hiss. you must also know that i am using a horrific amount of gain with a 6505+. I have the post gain maxed out and most other things maxed out as well. After much research and saving, i invested in the isp decimater g-string. this product was on a whole other level. the things that the ns-2 lacked this thing just has. It senses when you are playing, instead of opening a gate when you play loud enough. Even with my extreme gain settings, overdrive in front, booster in the effects loop, and volume all the way up on my guitar, i can start-stop all day long just like periphery and animals as leaders. plus, my palm muted notes fade naturally as do normally fretted notes. Another thing i have recently learned is that the ns-2 manufacturing process uses lead free solder, whereas the ns-1 has lead based solder. This resulted in a big difference in signal integrity, and is very evident if you leave the pedal on bypass and play something, then removeit from the chain, and play something. it darkens the tone alot.

In conclusion, if you want play the new styles of metal with all the gain and start-stop, buy the isp decimater g-string or pro rack g.

Comments about Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor Pedal:

All-in-all this pedal is good. I'm playing through a mesa boogie roadking 2x12 (dual rectifier). I play in a power/heavy metal band, so we do high gain stuff. I also use a ts-9dx to boost my signal and throw a little extra grit on it. I'm also playing through a pair of blackout humbuckers with the gain boost enganged. I'm also using an eq pedal in my fx-loop but no extra level boost (I show some restraint). So, in otherwords, the high gain channel on my amp needs some noise suppression.

When plugging my guitar in and setting it up in my fx-loop in what people on-line seem to call the "x-pattern", (after all 2-3 of the other pedals I use) I notice a change in my tone when I activate this pedal. Also, I have to mess around with my amp a little too much to help the NS-2 do its job. Basically I want a pedal that I can throw in my loop or something and kill the feedback and hum but not change my sound, or make ME change MY sound. This doesn't quite pull it off. It's way better than nothing, but if you play really high gain stuff like I do, consider yourself warned. Really good, but not quite the total package.

Love this pedal. Just hard to place on a small pedal board because of running the loop and in/ out lines properly. But this pedal is awesome. Cuts out all the noise but not your tone. Daisy Chain is a huge plus.

Comments about Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor Pedal:

If you play a tube head and use a favorite stomp box for a bit more drive for solos, this is a must have. Follow the directions and put your favorite stomp OD pedal in the loop of the NS-2. Run your guitar through the in and out of the NS-2 and into your high gain amp. I use a Boss SD-1 in front of a Soldano SLO100 head, and I'm telling you, this NS-2 is a miracle pedal. I can have the SLO cranked on the OD channel AND the SD-1 engaged and stop playing at any second, and ZERO NOISE! Plus, you can still fade out sustaining notes naturally with no harsh cut offs like most Hush style units. Yngwie uses this same pedal for his noise reduction, and I see why. It just doesn't get better than this for tube head/overdrive stomp box users.

Comments about Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor Pedal:

I bought this a little while back and it performs flawlessly, cuts out line noise and even clears out body noise from bumping your guitar!! Hey it's a BOSS I didn't expect anything less, great quality build and I no longer hear line noise and that annoying buzzing hum :) I would highly recommend anyone adding it to their pedal board, it's tough and reliable!!

I spent the money to ship it back. I found it frustrating how the noise fades in and out when you play. Does kill sound when you are not playing anything. Id recommend saving up for something better.

Still trying ways to use this pedal. Currently using it in the effects loop of my Peavey and really like it there.
Still making adjustments to settings as well.
Works well and is well made.

Boss has been known for great pedals, and this is one of them. I bought this on sale for 15% off. I never wanted to practice because i could never get rid of the static and hum coming from my amp and now I have never practiced more. I love it. Very simple to use and i love the mute option for tuning.

I knew I could not go wrong by chosing the name BOSS!! This pedal does exactly what it suppose to do, cuts out line noise. Before buying this I would open up my recording program and turn everything on and hit record, you can see the line noise running across the track but not with the BOSS NS-2 Noise Suppressor hooked up on your board. It has cut out my line noise completly!!! Even if I accidently bump my guitar during recording the Boss does not let it be heard on my tracks. No feedback no hiss no humming. As of now I have bought quiet a few things from Musicians Friend and out of all of them the only thing that I have worn out is picks and Guitar Stringslol. This is a must have for any Guitarist even if your just fun jamming in your bedroom I know you will appreciate theBOSS NS-2 Noise Suppressor. I am very happy to have it added into my gear bag!!

This is another pedal that has had a permanent place on my pedal board since I first brought it home. An absolute "must have" when playing with high-gain. Pretty simple to use. Eliminates the unwanted noise when you're not playing and still stays true to your sound. Solid and reliable. I've had mine for years and it's still going strong.
