I have been playing guitar for nearly 4 years.. I play in college and get full tuition for playing electric and acoustic in a school sponsored band.. we play various types of music.. Gospel, Rock n Roll, Contemporary, Jazz, Blues, Harder Rock..This pedal is perfect for all of those styles.. I play a fender tele through a fender 4x10 deville and this pedal really shines in every situation..I have never played a pedal at this price that has this quality of tone.. The distortion side gives you a more modern american distortion/crunch type sound.. the Overdrive is a bluesy sound that is amazing for blues/jazz/ old rock n roll and is really close in tone to the blues driver.. Overall its a great pedal.. great for single coil and humbuckers both.. best value and quality in its price range.. you'd have to movie up to high-end/custom pedals to get a better overall sound than this pedal offers... BUY IT if youve been searching like Ii have for an affordable solution that won't leave you at all dissappointed.p.s do not expect this 70 dollar pedal to make your cheap guitar and practice amp sound like overdrive you hear played on the radio.. It is a good pedal but nothing can make up for personal equipment that just doesn't sound good.

Do not buy this pedal if you want really heavy duty distortion, or really creamy tube-like overdrive. This box is mainly if you want something in the middle of the two above mentioned sounds. Overall, it sounds quite mechanical, digital even. The distortion with the top boost sounds kinda like ripping paper. The overdrive, however, is much better. For old style solos and things of that nature, it's a good value. For blues, it will work, but not excel. I would say that 80's pop overdrive/distortion is the most this thing can push. I've never had it break though, good solid construction. I, however, for metal or heavy rock, would buy a metal muff. For overdrive, I would prefer a tubescreamer. Yes, this pedal allows you to get two effects in one box, and I'm all for saving cash, but there is a reason that the tubescreamer has survived this long, even though the overdrive in this box is not terrible. Don't get it if you want a distortion pedal.

Great Sound!

Comments about Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I'm working on developing a pedal board and this has been my newest addition! Love the aggressive, rock tone I can get from this pedal. When I throw my delay pedal into the mix it just opens all kinds of mind warping doors to use. Loving the BOSS line up!

Not as Good as I'd Hoped For

Ask me a question

Comments about Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got this pedal for my birthday thinking "oh wow I can have an overdrive and a distortion all in one!" I plugged it into my amp and wow was I wrong. The distortion is weak even on the maximum setting and it's very muffled so it wasn't as good as I had hoped for. If you are going for Lynyrd Skynyrd or an AC/DC sound this pedal may be your route but as far as going to anything heavy you might wanna look at other options.

GREAT PEDAL!!!

Comments about Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

this pedal is awesome!. i got it two christmases ago and it has not let me down yet. i can get anything from the rolling stones to pantera. the only bad thing is that when you mix the od and ds together, you can only mix them together, you cant add overdrive to the distortion already there, or the other way around. everything else is perfect.the manual is great. i recommend that you go to a music store to try it out befoer you buy it but you will not be disappionted.

Boss OS-2 OD/DS

By Floyd Fan Forever

Comments about Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got this recently and here's what I think: Its pretty good. I gave the quality a 4 due to a problem with the footswitch. Won't shut off. I'm going to exchange it. However, everything else was working great. I'm going to use this in the studio and on stage. You can get a wide variety of tones and sounds from this one pedal. From hot rod blues and old school tones to modern sounding distortion tones, plus all of whats in between that. You can get some nice softer tones from this too. Its versatile, good for the money. Its a keeper.

All you need

By Chrispcream1010

Comments about Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I am in a band that plays shows on a regular basis and this is the only distortion i have ever had. I have had it for about 3 or 4 years now and it covers every sound you could possible need. When dialed in right it gets that sound that you have in your head. I mainly play a Les Paul classic and a Fender Highway One Tele through a Marshall half stack, but i also occasionally use an Gibson SG special or a Fender strat. This pedal sounds good with all of them, but my favorite is the Les Paul. It gets a tone that just rips through the music and even sounds amazing on simple chord progressions and other things that normally go unnoticed in a song. I have played through so many other distortions and am extremely glad I found this one. I would definitely recommend it.

My brother bought it for me for me back in july and i loved it. It gave me everything from thick overdrive to screaming distortion. the only problem i had was that it doesnt give me as much sustain as i hoped for. But it has a great sound and this is worth buying

Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Pedal

By Anonymous

Comments about Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Okay, I would consider myself a distortion seeker, im always looking for the best quality distortion sounds. Got this pedal about last year but right out of the box i was unhappy. The overdrive tones are a little boxy and doesn't have allot of sustain, and the distortion sound is just crappy in general and has even less sustain. Mixing this pedal with amp distortion or another pedal you get way too much noise, and the sound becomes seriously compressed and basically unusable. The "color" knob that lets you blend the two sounds, is basically just turning up the volume of one, and down on another, not actually blending them, this causes any partial blend thats not on 0 or 10 to sound like 2 different distortion sounds.

Comments about Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Definitely the best pedal for its value. I've used this pedal almost daily for 3 years, and it has never failed me. Run thru a Fender Tele with a Duncan Hot Rails on the bridge to a '65 deluxe reissue. Without a doubt, one of the best sounding pedals out there.

Dial it up

Comments about Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I love this pedal. I play this with a custom SG (triple humbucker). I can dial in so many different tones with this one pedal, that sometimes I wish I had three of them to keep at different settings. Very versatile.

A Winner !!

By guitarfish

Comments about Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

It's not often I can give a product 5 stars across the board, but this one deserves it. Wow. It literally is two pedals in one, and very reasonably priced. The overdrive and distortion both sound great!! I'm using a Crate V-Series tube amp, so I can't say how it would sound with a solid state amp. Using my American Series Strat, I kid you not, the single coiled Strat sounds like an LP! And when I plugged in my Gibson LP...WHOA!!! Probably the best pedal acquisition I've made in a LONG time!
