Focused tone sweep and outstanding vocal-like quality.

The Budda BudWah Wah Pedal uses a custom inductor voiced to produce the midrange honk of vintage wahs without the top-end harshness. At bass settings, the Budda Budwah's tone is thick and honky without losing note clarity. When accentuating the highs, a carefully selected roll-off frequency ensures the BudWah isn't piercing like many other wahs.

The Budda Budwah's tight and focused tone sweep produces an outstanding vocal-like quality. Circuitry features a hard-wire bypass; custom coil inductor inspired by the vintage Fasel inductor; full-ground plane board for noiseless operation; and a beefy, reliable switch.

I'm very happy with the pedals overall looks, performance, sound, and durability. It's gigable and gorgeous as well.
It all depends on what you're looking for, but if what you want is a fantastic sounding, no frills wah pedal, then this is the one. I played a cry baby for years, and I immediately noticed with this pedal that the stomp button is much easier to switch on and off. Sometimes I felt like I had to really slam my foot down to get the cry baby to turn on or off, and playing live it was easy to accidentally leave the wah on completely distorting your tone. Also, the budwah has a nice, tight tone sweep so you don't get those ear piercing highs at the toe end of the sweep. This pedal really shines on a good clean sound for funky grooves, but the tight vocal sweep is less noticeable when you are using distortion/OD. I generally don't use wah over any distorted tones other than a few leads here and there, and it does the job very well for those. ALSO: its true bypass! No TONE SUCK.
Heavy duty, sturdy construction. Made completely of metal. My only gripes are: I'm using it on a pedal board, so I'd have preferred that the battery slot on the bottom did not protrude at all. Also, when I plugged it in by itself for a test, I put a battery in it and when I tried to take the battery off of the connector, it ripped the friggin connector off of the wires! Fortunately, I had never planned on using a battery in this pedal anyway, and velcro went right over the battery slot. So in the end, neither of these problems actually affected me.
The price was a little steep for a wah in my opinion, but then again look at the fulltone clyde or any other premium wah. I'm a funk/blues/reggae/jimi hendrix kinda guy, so this is an important pedal in my rig. It was totally worth the money in the end. My band is blown away by the upgrade in sound from the crybaby. I love the original, don't get me wrong, but the budwah fixed what I considered to be the shortcomings of the cry baby.

I've owned the purple Budda Budwah pedal for 5+ years and have been very happy with it. However, it recently started humming pretty bad, so I decided to buy a new one. They seem to have discontinued that model in favor of this new one. So despite some reviewers mentioning that the new model is made in China, I decided to take a chance and ordered one through MF. I don't care that they've changed the outside design, but I was hugely disappointed that the new model sounds absolutely nothing like the old one. I A/B tested them side by side. Even with the humming, the old one sounds twice as good as the new model and the difference in tone is night and day. Also, the old one had a silky smooth feel to it when you were working the pedal. The new one is clunky and jerky. But I can live with that if it sounds good. This one doesn't. At all. The most bothersome thing with it is that it colors the tone drastically. It adds TONS and TONS of fuzz to the signal. The old one was crystal clear with minimum coloring and NO fuzz whatsoever. Not so with the new model. I plugged it into a Fender'ish amp on the clean channel (extremely clean tone) and started working the pedal, and was appalled at what I heard. Like I said TONS of annoying fuzz. I don't think there was anything wrong with the pedal that I got, it just sounds like it's going through a fuzz pedal too, especially in the trebly register. I couldn't stand it so it went right back. They did a couple of things right. It's very quiet (no humming or noise), even in the high register. And they put a battery compartment on the bottom of the pedal so you can change the battery without opening the case. Other than that, I'm really surprised that a reputable company like Budda would put their name on something like this. I absolutely hated the pedal and ended up buying an RMC Wizard wah, which I'm very happy with so far.

Comments about Budda BRS-97020 Budwah Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've been playing for over 30 years and have owned sevreral wahs, primarily variations of Dunlop's cry baby. All in all the Dunlops were fair sounding but most of them had shrill sounding highs and except for 1 of those pedals the lows were muddy sounding.

Before pulling the trigger on this one, I watched numerous You Tube videos and read every magazine and user review I could find on at least 15 different pedals. My research lasted 3 weeks.

This is the pedal I chose and it is by far the best sounding wah I have ever used. Built rock solid with quality components, nice looking and, most important, it has killer tone.

OK wah but poor switch quality

        By The Little Piggy

        from Southern CA

Comments about Budda BRS-97020 Budwah Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:

The wah itself sounds OK. A bit smoother on the bottom end than a Cry Baby but still a bit too peaky. They biggest annoyance is the intermittant nature of the bypass switch itself. Nothing worse than playin a gig and stomping on the wah just to have your sound disappear completely. Embarrassing and unprofessional is what it made me appear so why say much good about it? Well, it does sound good when it's doingits thing and the bling-factor makes it look cool just sitting there. However, be sure to fully test ANY budda pedal before bringing her home to meet your mother.....

        Loving my new Budwah!!!

        By sleeplessinAtlanta

Comments about Budda BRS-97020 Budwah Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've been a Dunlop player for 15 years, but heard an opening band 2 weeks ago where the guitar player had one of these. I really liked his sound with it a lot and went and picked one up. I did have to adjust the pedal tension a bit, but that takes 5 minutes and isn't a big deal at all. After that, the pedal will stay put where I leave it so I can do the Page thing. I LOVE the sound of this pedal. It seems to have a hint of boost, but not too much, it just doesn't fall apart when you turn it on. It's hard wired bypassed so it doesn't compromise the tone when it's off. I can't say that about my old Crybaby! Just that alone is worth the price of admission for me since I spent a ton on my amp. The other thing is the weight. I don't have a pedal board, just put my pedals on the ground. The weight of it means I don't have to ruin the nice chrome case with duct tape, the pedal stays put. All in all, my favorite pedal!

Comments about Budda BRS-97020 Budwah Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:

The description on this pedal is very accurate. Noise free, nice vocal like quality. The switch feels very high quality. It just feels like a rugged, well built tank. I went back to my old pedal (CB) and it just had a cheap feel to it in comparison, so I know I made the right decision to buy this one. This is now permanently on my pedal board!

Comments about Budda BRS-97020 Budwah Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:

I couldn't find a good wah and saw a guy playing this last week, so I bought one without playing it first, not too smart, right? Well, it paid off. I already put 3 wahs up for sale! You'll love this pedal. People say it looks funky but I don't care. It's chrome and cool looking to me and its heavy so it doesn't move around on the stage. Get this pedal!
