A musical, very vocal-like wah pedal!
The Budda BudWah Wah Pedal uses a custom inductor that is voiced to produce the midrange honk of vintage wahs without the top-end harshness. At bass settings, the tone is thick and honky without losing note clarity. When accentuating the highs, a carefully selected roll-off frequency ensures the BudWah isn't piercing like many wahs. A tight and focused tone sweep produces an outstanding vocal-like quality. Circuitry features a hard-wire bypass; custom coil inductor inspired by the vintage Fasel inductor; full-ground plane board for noiseless operation; and a beefy, reliable switch.

I finally took the plunge and dumped some hard earned cash on this pedal after looking, listening, and reading about it for a year. I have to say that upon my first rock of the pedal last night at practice, this thing amazed me. It has got exactly the tone I have been looking for in my wah. It has a beautiful full voice on clean sounds, and it is a very vocal sound just as everyone describes. With my blues driver running, it does some great quacky blues and rock. The ultimate test in my mind was on full drive with the blues driver and tube screamer both running. Once again I was stunned. This was has the guts to push through all that gain and still give you a great sounding, and very expressive wah sound. I feel the range on the wah is great. Some say it's too narrow, but I think it's perfect. Plenty of bottom end growl, with enough high end to cut, but not pierce. I could not be happier with this pedal...well I guess I could have ordered it sooner and been happer a long time ago. It gets a 5 in all catagories except features since there are not a lot of features to this pedal. Click on and off at the toe, and rock away on the pedal, very simple. Only thing I wish it had is a LED to indicate when the pedal is active, but I'll get use to it. I am definately working more wah into my playing know that I have a sound that I enjoy hearing!

I listened to the samples here on Musician's Friend and loved the sound of this Wah. The Wah in the samples actually sounds like a Wah with the vocal like smoothness that Musician's Friend describes. However, mine doesn't sound anything like the samples. As a matter of fact, it doesn't sound much like a Wah at all!!! On a clean channel, it's much more like a volume pedal. On a dirty channel, it's got a tonal variation akin to sweeping the tone control on your guitar. I'm highly disappointed!

this is a nice sounding wah but mine does not have a smooth sweep to it. it hits a point in the sweep and it jumps from dull to sharp instantly. i was told that over time it would "break in" and smooth out. well that was great advice because a year later it still has the exact same problem and guess what... i can't return it.
When I got my Budwah pedal I noticed the red circuit board when I opened the battery compartment. Sure enough, I opened it up to find Dunlop's circuit board. Nothing new just paying a higher price for the name.
I entered a review earlier. The Budda Wah I ordered was defective. Musicians friend emailed me a return label and shipped another right away. All I had to do was drop the old one at UPS. The Wah is sweet; Musicians Friend is great!
I just got my BudWah from MF. Plugged it in - PRS CU 24/ Fender Super Reverb RI - and gave it a run. Bypassed it was clean; switched on, it was almost like a constant, high pitched feedback. No sweep, no range, just a minor change to the noise. I tried it with a battery (new) and with a 9v power supply. Same results. I'm shipping it back.
Got mine about a week ago. I play funk, jam, and classic rock so the wah pedal has ALWAYS been an important part of my arsenal. I've gone through the usual ones over the years, a few Cry Babies, a Vox, a Tech 21, but NONE of them get that smooth, sexy funk-butter tone like the Budda. I've owned more VERSATILE wah pedals before, and I've owned wahs that handle ultra high-gain sounds a bit better. But if you just want a pure booty-shakin' tone machine accept no substitutes. This is just IT.
This is a step up from the standard Dunlop Cry Baby, etc. Fantastic sweep and very smooth tones. I never really cared for wah pedals until I got this one. With good foot control you can almost perfectly emulate the flanger sweep on Eruption. One caveat: get the AC adapter. This thing eats batteries - one 9 volt is good for about 3 days...
I've had a dunlap wah for years and always liked the range it had , but after trying the budda at my local guitar store I was in love with this pedal excelllent range and control worth the extra bucks for the bang.
I have been a working blues musician (not an oxymoron LOL!) for a long time and have owned a Bazillion pedals over the years. I usually don't have the time to write reviews like this but I'm so impressed with this pedal I thought I'd put my two cents in. The Budda is by far the cleanest, quietest, warmest Wah pedal I have ever tried--it's perfect for my genre. The minute I plugged into it in the music store my jaw dropped. This pedal does what it claims; it has a beautiful sweeping range that gives the guitarist ultimate control over the kind of expression he/she is after. In addition, the construction of pedal itself is solid metal and is extremely road worthy. I highly recommend this product--it is definitely worth the money!
Ive had quite a few wahs in my many moons on this planet. This one spanks em all. Dont let the price tag scare ya you wont regret the xtra $ This thing is built to last. Get it today!!!!
An update to my previous review. I contacted Budda support about the problem with the pedal not sounding like a wah. They had me send it in for repair (broken inductor). I received my repaired wah about 2 weeks later and it sounds fantastic! It's got a great clean sounding wah. Definitely the best I've tried.
