OVERVIEW

A musical, very vocal-like wah pedal!

The Budda BudWah Wah Pedal uses a custom inductor that is voiced to produce the midrange honk of vintage wahs without the top-end harshness. At bass settings, the tone is thick and honky without losing note clarity. When accentuating the highs, a carefully selected roll-off frequency ensures the BudWah isn't piercing like many wahs. A tight and focused tone sweep produces an outstanding vocal-like quality. Circuitry features a hard-wire bypass; custom coil inductor inspired by the vintage Fasel inductor; full-ground plane board for noiseless operation; and a beefy, reliable switch.

FEATURES
  • Tight and focused tone sweep
  • Outstanding vocal-like quality
  • Hard-wire bypass
  • Custom coil inductor inspired by the vintage Fasel inductor
  • Full-ground plane board for noiseless operation

The Budda wah is hands down one of the finest wah pedals ever made. Get yours today and discover the magic.

I finally took the plunge and dumped some hard earned cash on this pedal after looking, listening, and reading about it for a year. I have to say that upon my first rock of the pedal last night at practice, this thing amazed me. It has got exactly the tone I have been looking for in my wah. It has a beautiful full voice on clean sounds, and it is a very vocal sound just as everyone describes. With my blues driver running, it does some great quacky blues and rock. The ultimate test in my mind was on full drive with the blues driver and tube screamer both running. Once again I was stunned. This was has the guts to push through all that gain and still give you a great sounding, and very expressive wah sound. I feel the range on the wah is great. Some say it's too narrow, but I think it's perfect. Plenty of bottom end growl, with enough high end to cut, but not pierce. I could not be happier with this pedal...well I guess I could have ordered it sooner and been happer a long time ago. It gets a 5 in all catagories except features since there are not a lot of features to this pedal. Click on and off at the toe, and rock away on the pedal, very simple. Only thing I wish it had is a LED to indicate when the pedal is active, but I'll get use to it. I am definately working more wah into my playing know that I have a sound that I enjoy hearing!

I listened to the samples here on Musician's Friend and loved the sound of this Wah. The Wah in the samples actually sounds like a Wah with the vocal like smoothness that Musician's Friend describes. However, mine doesn't sound anything like the samples. As a matter of fact, it doesn't sound much like a Wah at all!!! On a clean channel, it's much more like a volume pedal. On a dirty channel, it's got a tonal variation akin to sweeping the tone control on your guitar. I'm highly disappointed!

Lookin' for a real wah?

By Gibson/Mesarock

from the sticks, SD

I've played every wah on the market: vox, dunlop, ibanez, etc, and the Budda beats them all. I need a wah that get put snap in my funk rhythms, the snarl in my blues, and scream in my hard rock leads. This pedal did it. I played and still own a dunlop original cry baby, with the fasel inductor, and while it does sound great, the high end shifts are incredibly hard to hear through my dirty channel (mesa-boogie rectoverb). I've tried it in every combination with my ts9 screamer and SD-1 OD and it just didnt cut it. I tried the Budda, and it made the difference. I now use the CryBaby through the effects loop for wierdness sake. Oh, and the treadle on the crybaby gets loose quick; no such problem with the Budda. The only reason I gave the value a 4, is because its more expensive than some wahs you can find.

I didn't like it

I bought one of these pedals brand new after reading lots of glowing reviews, and when I got it and plugged it in, I was really disappointed. This thing has almost zero range. It doesn't sound hardly any different from bass to treble position. It's supposed to be a wah pedal! But no 'wah' sound comes out of this pedal. And it is really hard to put batteries in and out of this pedal. I had to use a screw driver to get the battery out.

choppy sweep

this is a nice sounding wah but mine does not have a smooth sweep to it. it hits a point in the sweep and it jumps from dull to sharp instantly. i was told that over time it would "break in" and smooth out. well that was great advice because a year later it still has the exact same problem and guess what... i can't return it.

The best I've seen

I've been on a quest for the perfect wah for more than twenty years. Every Cry baby is different from the next. Sweep, frequency range, pedal tension, etc. sometimes you get a good one, sometimes not. Morley's don't do anything for me and digital wahs are completely out of the question. I've yet to hear a new Vox wah that I liked and they're just a Cry Baby with a chrome pedal anyway. There are more obscure boutique wahs that I've never tried and probably can't afford that may be better, but as far as I'm concerned, I've found the best wah out there. I know it's getting up into the pricier range, but it is worth every cent. Extremely responsive. Surprising sweep. True bypass is beautiful! There is absolutely no change in tone or volume while off. In my opinion, simply the best.

Great sound and quality. Only change i'd make would be to make it easier to click on/off. But all in all, it's a great pedal. I love using it.

Great value for a wah pedal..

By klyakyte

from Amarillo, TX

Over the last several months I have bought (and sold) several wah pedals including two vox wah's, a morley bad horsie 2, and I have also tried out dunlop cry babys. This one definitely sounds the best of the ones i've tried. I agree with other reviews online in that it more closely resembles a "wow" sound rather than a wah, and this is a good thing. The quality is really good, although one of the black rubber feet came off after toting it around quite a bit. It went back on in a cinch. I will be keeping this for a while. Some day I might upgrade to a Fulltone Clyde or Teese RM3 Wah, but for now, and definitely for the low price, this is the best thing for needs.

Best Product, Best Value

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

The price of this pedal may seem steep but after trying pedals of all makes,I can honestly say this pedal may be worth well more than it retails for. There is zero volume loss, perfect "vocal wah" replication (with seemingly no feedback), and unlike most Wah's I have owned, the signal is so passive i can never tell it's on my board until i play it. I back this pedal 100 percent!

Great Wah

By AmB4Yeshua

The Budda Bud is a great wah pedal. As advertised, is has a short range and focuses on the mids. It could be better named than a wow pedal actually with the sound range. I always use an effect for a couple months before writing a review to make sure I feel the same way about the product, and this one keeps my recommendation. Another great feature of this wah is the bypass. Keeps the signal strong to the amp when its off and doesn't boost your gain when its on. Pick one up if you're looking for a great, warm wah pedal.

Love it

Its unique.... You wont get teh sound of a CryBaby, or a Vox. However you will get the sound of the Budda Wah Wah. Its fun, and has a tone that is its own.The only down fall is the price. If you have a budget, the CryBaby is a more common, less expensive alternative. If you want to "have you own sound." This wah isn't used near as much as its competitorsI play a Strat through a Deville
