OVERVIEW

British classic 150W tube head with Infinium Tube Life Multiplier.

The Bugera 1960 Infinium 150W classic hi-gain tube guitar amp head offers a tremendous range of tonal options. Bugera added no compromise post- phase- inverter master volume that can be bypassed for direct signal path and a huge output transformer with specially nested windings for use with external FX, preamps or modeling processors, making the 1960 a great go-to amp for massive stage sound and unbridled versatility.

The 1960 Infinium has one feature that distinguishes it from all other amps in its class--the two channels come equipped with 2 input jacks each that can be used separate, parallel or cascading operation, bridging the tonal eras of the '60s, 70s and 80s.

The revolutionary Infinium Tube Life Multiplier technology is like having your very own technician inside your amp constantly monitoring and tweeking tube performance for the ultimate in tonal integrity and reliability. This revolutionary circuit not only optimizes the performance of each output tube, it dynamically balances the drive between them to more evenly distribute the load. With Infinium your tubes last up to 20 times longer, saving you substantial money over the lifespan of your amplifier. Infinium also compensates for the effects of aging, automatically adjusting current levels to keep your tubes sounding as good as the day they were installed.

Comments about Bugera 1960 Infinium 150W Classic Hi-Gain Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Bugera went back to the drawing board when they made this updated version of the 1960 head they produced.

First they installed mods that really work. The master volume on the back when turn on can bring the volume level all the way down to bedroom level without ever actually cutting off the signal. It is very handy if you want to tame this beast.
The cascaded mod has a ton of gain and really where this amp shines. It sounds just like the JMP and 1987x heads I own but without the hiss and added noise attributed to Marshalls are cranked and idle.
The parallel channel has an internal jump which means you no longer need a small jump cable up front to blend both clean and bass channels.
This channel gives you better cleans vs the cascade channel, better for using your own dirt pedals if your into experimenting with all sorts of tones. I kind of call it a white canvas waiting for anything you want to throw at it or just use it as a nice loud fender style clean.

Over all I really like how Bugera listen to the past comments when they made the first 1960 amp. No doubt they went back to the drawing board whan they made this version.

I did change out the factory tubes because I feel the stock tubes seem to break up a little too quick. After doing this it made a huge improvement to the tone in this amp.

The Infinium system really works. True story, One of the NEW power tubes I received turned out to be bad, the system did what it was suppose to do and one LED stayed on letting me know there was a bad tube that needed to be replaced. GREAT system that works!

I have used two different Marshall cabs with this head and found that the higher 300 watts cab sounded better maybe because this head is rated at 150 watts, my 73' JMP 100 watts cabinet seem to break up way to early. My 1960 Lead cab loaded with G1275t really handles this head perfectly. It sounds like a Marshall head running through both but a lot more quieter.

I would recommend this head to anyone looking for a plexi head under a grand that's been modded and done right by factory.

Great job Bugera!!! I am not a hatter but a player. Check out my demos using this head on YouTube JBL8863 using pedals and just the gain of the amp.

Don't ever go by the 'At this price strategy' Two pieces of garbage are worse than one.

See if you have local repair. This is a must. If you are going to spend at least make sure you can get it repair. Good luck.

Comments about Bugera 1960 Infinium 150W Classic Hi-Gain Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This amp is tremendous! It is a clone of the "plexi" amp but much more powerful and with the added mods - these mods were done by most professional musicians in the 70s and 80s on actual plexis. It is very loud with the stock tubes but after contacting Bugera, I have switched to 6V6 tubes and I love it! Lower overall output and the amp auto biases itself as long as it is an Octal tube - which fits the sockets. Tremendous tone and at about 60-70 watts (with the 6V6 tubes), this is great for medium to large size clubs/venues. This amp is very well built and weighs around 40-50 lbs...heavy. All the new Bugeras have come out with the Infinium technology which autobiases your tubes and keeps the amp running even if a tube goes bad, which it lets you know. The post phase inverter (master volume) on the back is so functional and with the cascading gain, you have a TONE MONSTER!

Loved the amp so much, I bought another and a couple of 1990s. All have lasted and continue to get many hours of playing time running trough a Peavey 5150 cab with Sheffields. The price point is very low and sometimes scares people but this is a 5 Overall or a 4.5 at any other price point. By the way, this amp blows away many other amp heads for tone and sound.

The Infinium Amp Models last forever compared to the first generation of Bugera amps. Those were totally different and should not be confused or mentioned in this amp's ratings. Every store has its return policy so try it for 30 days and you will be surprised. By the way, the Infinium Amp Models run out quickly at ALL the online stores so you may have to get on a waiting list or try different websites. A Definite Must Try!!!

Comments about Bugera 1960 Infinium 150W Classic Hi-Gain Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This AMP is great in so many ways.. First of all.. I have had it for a year and jam a lot. I have accidentlly bang it around and never had a quality problem or issue.. I have blown speaker boxes due to overkill power.. I would describe it as like (extremely close) a Plexi without needing the power-soak..

The tone is not exactly like my 50W reissue plexi but very similar with the right speakers.. And unlike the plexi the auto bias is a life saver..

I'm sick of hearing all the "Bugera Bashers" I'm a Blues / Rock guy on a budget so I'm sold..

Actually I have recenly bought the 1990 120watt head here on MF for (closeout price) and the 6262 combo for (closeout price)..
        Amazing for the price..

Comments about Bugera 1960 Infinium 150W Classic Hi-Gain Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This is a monster! Powerful plexi-style amplifier. Main feature: capable of sweet, clean, and warm tone at high volumes, if needed. I adjusted the volume attenuation knob in the back to about six and it delivers a monstrous present wall of sound but not overwhelming. Sound great with my Ibanez ar620, Godin A6 Ultra acoustic, a Fernandes Sustainer, G&l tribute, and even with my Yamaha Yamaha NCX1200R nylon and sound clean articulated and solid. Channels 2 is my favorite. My guitar cabinets sound all good; Carvin cab with a 12" Celestion speaker, and cabinet with a 15" Warehouse G15C Ceramic Speaker; punchy and clean. What is missing is the reverb but you can get the super clean Boss rv-6 for that. Great Product for all kinds of applications rock to blues to Jazz. Remember this is a 47lb monster.

Comments about Bugera 1960 Infinium 150W Classic Hi-Gain Tube Guitar Amp Head:

The INFINIUM version of the 1960 has corrected all the shortcomings of the original 1960. Great mods on this amp and the tone is incredible. Emailed Bugera and found out that you could switch out the tubes with anything that fits the 8 pin socket, including low wattage 6V6 tubes. Wow! I tried it and it works (auto bias). The sound is still pretty loud but with the master volume (post phase inverter), you can turn it down while the tubes get "soaked". Even with the 6V6 tubes, it can get very loud but the TONE WAS INCREDIBLE!

Comments about Bugera 1960 Infinium 150W Classic Hi-Gain Tube Guitar Amp Head:

All I can say is the price of this amp will turn off many people because they think it's too cheap. Don't kid yourselves. Compare it to other higher priced amps. Some won't buy it because they need to be "cool" and have the name of the other amps. There isn't hope for those. For those of us who buy with our ears and not our eyes, this amp is it. Very versatile, features that many of us have done to our stock amps, great sound. If you want really loud, stick with the EL34 tubes. If you want a softer, smoother, rich amp, switch to the 6L6 tubes. It took about five minutes and the circuitry is self biasing, so it's plug and play. Incredible difference, only adds a little more to the cost, and still a quarter of the price of the "other" amps. the EL34 tubes would be good for a clean loud sound like almost a bass or with lots of pedals. The 6L6 makes it sound more like the orange dark amps, even though I think they use the EL34 tubes.

Comments about Bugera 1960 Infinium 150W Classic Hi-Gain Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I actually own two of these and they are absolutely fabulous they sound incredible the tone is unbeatable the ability to use a wide variety of tubes and not having to match is awesome. There's really nothing bad to say about it aside from maybe the attenuator that's built-in is not the best this is an extraordinary loud amplifier it runs circles around my 74 super lead. I would recommend a good quality external attenuator. At this price it's an absolute no-brainer I'm actually surprised they can keep these things in stock they are really really fantastic sounding amplifiers and the idea of touching a Plexi styled amplifier anywhere near this price isn't going to happen. Truth is in my opinion I would have been willing to pay a lot more for this amplifier and it is worth a lot more. It's one of the very best sounding amplifiers I've ever heard in over 35 plus years of playing.

              Service and delivery comments:

Never had an issue of service as I've never had to have it serviced. Of course purchasing it from Musician's Friend shipping is free Pleasant employees good overall customer service nothing to complain about.
