OVERVIEW

Hardcore 120W 3-channel tube head with reverb and Infinium Tube Life Multiplier.

The 333XL is the big brother to Bugera's 333 Series, but with four key additions:

· Overall active Presence control

· EL34 power tubes for a more compressed, tighter midrange

· Noise gate on Lead channel
This is an analog gate that will never close or shut you off in a clean passage. It is frequency selected to decrease high frequency noise and hiss without changing your tone and it works loads better than a lot of competitors’ gates.

· XL switch on Crunch and Lead channels
The XL function will add more “chunk” to your sound. You can add some thunder to the combo version to more closely emulate a 412 cab, thicken the sound of single-coil pickups or add sustain to single-note melodic passages.

After that, this design is much like the 333 with three fully independent channels: A totally Clean channel that won’t break up, a Crunch channel for a "halfway dirty" rock and blues tone (or crank the gain for a metal rhythm tone), and a Lead channel with the same structure as the Crunch channel but with access to more gain.

FEATURES
  • Hand-built 120-watt amplifier driven by 4 x EL34 valves (convertible to 6L6)
  • Classic 3-channel preamp design (Clean, Crunch, Lead) featuring 4 x 12AX7 valves
  • Integrated high-class reverb with dedicated Reverb control
  • XL switches on the Lead and Crunch channels for absolute killer sounds
  • Independent Equalizer sections for each channel with dedicated Bass, Mid and Treble control
  • Classic Presence control for awesome sound shaping
  • Impedance switch (4, 8 and 16 Ohm) to match virtually any speaker cabinet
  • FX Loop with independent Send and Return level controls also serves as Boost function
  • Heavy-duty footswitch for Channel selection and FX Loop/Boost function included
  • Line output with dedicated Level control

Comments about Bugera 333XL 120W 3-Channel Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I received this head as a gift and I was certainly not disappointed. I was a little turned off by the mixed reviews of the product and the brand, but from my experience with the amp, I have had no problems with it. I mostly play metal/hardcore music, and this amp is perfect for it. It has a wonderful, high-gain tone, but the gain does not take away from its clarity. Every note is crystal clear, and the tone isn't muddy at all. The noise gate helps a bunch, too, taking out most of the background hum from the pickups. I will admit, the amp did hum a lot at first, but as the tubes were broken in more, it went away. Now, it may be great for metal, but the clean tones that come out of this thing are beautiful as well! The cleans are very crisp, but full. For the dirty channels, I scooped out the mid entirely, but with the clean channel, it helps to have the mid about mid volume (pun intended). Overall, this is a great amp head, and I have no complaints with it.

Comments about Bugera 333XL 120W 3-Channel Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I bought this amp about 5 years ago. I have not regretted my purchase. This amp is a beast. I took to my amp tech and he said everything inside this amp is awesome. They even switched to using metal clips instead of plastic clips inside. Making this beast a road-worthy amp.

I've noticed one small detail that I would change...the plastic knobs. Mind you, I've never had any issues with them. It would just be nice if they were higher quality.

Bottom line is, this amp is everything I have ever needed in a rock/metal machine. I love it so much, I've decided to order a 6262 just to have another amp to play around with. I've never even tried a 6262. I'm blind buying it and I have faith that Bugera will not let me down.

Comments about Bugera 333XL 120W 3-Channel Tube Guitar Amp Head:

So Far, this is my favorite amp. I've owned it for a year, had no issues. The sound quality is better than the Marshalls and Blackstars I've owned.

Clean is clean. It's boring, but it is very clean and suitable for metal.

Crunch is...perfect for anything with an 80s flavor to it. From Scorpions to Metallica, this gives you a JCM800 sound in my opinion.

Lead is great for metal, and with the gain lower, can nail a good early EVH sound. The texture is a bit different from the Crunch, I want to say less nasal and more warm, but it is still a mid-honk amp.

You can actually dial in a scooped mid metal tone on the crunch and get a classic rock tone on the lead, or visa versa. Or Get "...And Justice for All" on the Crunch channel and Modern metal on the Lead. Tons of gain on tap on both channels and it never gets flubby like on most amps.

The Fat / XL switches will alter the sound enough to make the amp more versatile, more present in the low mids. If you're recording a guitar and find it sounds too thin, the XL button fixes it.

There is a low gain and a high gain input. Low gain makes it a little warmer, less gain sensitivity, less grit on the clean channel, but makes the clean channel sound more "dead."

Overall it's a great amp but a bit of a compromise. It's like 3 amps in one box. The two gain channels are better than what you find in most amps under a grand. Basically, choose this one if you want a "marshall tone" and a modern metal tone in one amp, especially if you need a master volume that will allow you to play at any volume, same tone. My real Marshalls can't do this without pedals or things in the effects loop or attenuators.

Comments about Bugera 333XL 120W 3-Channel Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Got this guy about 8 months ago. Very solid amp. Three channels: Clean, ok sound. You can definitely feel the tubes but its no Fender or anything like that. Crunch, heres where the amp starts getting fun. The Volume and Gain knobs are very responsive and allow you to go from a warm overdrive to nice fat distortion. Lead is a nice high gain channel, but even maxed out the tone doesn't saturate quite much. Which for metal can be frustrating sometimes, but like other people have mentioned, any decent pedal can take this amp from 70s Judas Priest to Gojira. It also includes a Noise Gate. All channels have a full EQ, and a clean sounding Reverb which can be individually engaged for each channel. Also a Presence knob. Crunch and Lead also come with an added feature which is the XL button. I believe it makes the tubes start taking in more power, adding a different element to the amp. Along with my Randall cab this head is a serious beast! I still haven't upgraded the tubes, but stock ones have been sounding great so far. The footswitch is solid with a long cable which allows you to stand anywhere in the room/stage. For this price, you truly can't beat it. I've had it next to Mesas, Randalls, Engls, and its held up quite nicely. Its got a beautiful vintage tone that is quite its own.

Comments about Bugera 333XL 120W 3-Channel Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This was a disappointment from the beginning. First they told me the Amp with back-ordered. Then I was told it was discontinued and they could only provide me with a used for less money. I went with it only to receive a heavily used Amp with all the Tubes in need of replacement along with other various issues. Had to send it back. All in all it was a waste of time.

Comments about Bugera 333XL 120W 3-Channel Tube Guitar Amp Head:

All the features are as stated in the item description and are quite nice. I paired this amp with a Bugera 412H-BK 200W 4x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet. They work exceptionally well together. The head works well with my other various speaker cabs also.

Tone - The tone stacks on this head are some of the most flexible I have used. You can pretty easily find really great settings for about any guitar you want to plug in to this beast.

Power/Loudness - It is plenty loud!! I have cranked it just to see what it had and it was too loud to use 15 feet behind you on stage. I could barely hear the monitor again turned down to about 5. I run the master at between 2.5 and 3 at most venues. Usually without a mic.

Foot switch - The foot switch is very solid and I expect it to last a long time as I do the amp. The cable provided on the foot switch is long enough to position it with your mic and monitor at all but the very largest venues and is one of the longest I have seen come factory with an amp. Channel switching is nice and quiet.

Infinium - If this feature works half as well as they claim it will pay for the amp over it's lifetime and was another strong selling point for me in the value department. So far so good.

My only con for this head it that the boost/efx loop is actually the same circuit. I would have preferred a separate boost to go with the efx loop and a 5 button foot switch. It is of course easy enough to work around.

I rated the BUGERA 333XL Infinium 120W 3-Channel Tube Guitar Amp Head a 5 mostly due to the quality of sound it puts out. You can really feel and hear your guitar respond as you change your touch and playing style on your instrument. As one would expect from any high quality amp.

Oh, yeah.... The 333xl infinium is not going to be beat at this price point for value by anything I have seen on the market recently.

If you are in the market for a new amp you should take this puppy for a walk and see what you think. I was pleasantly surprised!!! I think you will be too.

Comments about Bugera 333XL 120W 3-Channel Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I have owned this amp for over a year now and it still sounds just as good as the day I bought it. It has 3 good and usuable channels. The clean is very nice (Not Fender clean) but very usable. The Crunch channel can get you a decent AC/DCish type of crunch, Classic rock and some hard rock sounds. The lead Channel is good o' 1980's - 1990's Rock, Glam Rock to metal type sounds. It isn't hardcore death metal by anymeans, but a good pedal will push you into those realms with ease. I really like the sounds that I can get with this amp. I also like the 4 button pedal that came with this amp as it has clean/crunch/lead/fx loop buttons that you can choose from which is really nice when you need to jump back and forth between these different sounds on the fly. Also really like the ohm switching to be able to hook up to any cabinet. Great Buy for anyone looking for a solid Tube Amp. I am gonna upgrade to some EH 6L6's that a local guitar shop said they will re-tube for a great price.

this amp is advertised as being able to use any combination of 6L6 and EL34 tubes. i just got my 6L6's in today and ...wow they dont work in the amp. the tube sockets even say 6L6/EL34. there is no online owners manual for this model. so im gonna buy some EL34s now. Thanks bugera for your wonderful customer support. thanks musicians friend for your no return on tubes policy. you are all wonderful people. amp does sound pretty good though.
