I've had my Pocket Rockit Pro for almost 8 years now and still use it to keep from annoying the neighbors and my family. This versatile little headphone amplifier works great for late night jammin' and for when you don't want to interrupt the kids homework or TV watching. There is some hiss in when using it in the overdrive modes, but IMHO not enough to warrant much of a complaint. The tonal variations in this little unit are amazing. Crystal clear, crytal clear with chorus, overdrive, overdrive with chorus, distortion, distortion with chorus. The same jack is used for line in and low level out! It senses the impedance of the connection and determins which way the signal should go. So, you can use the line out to a recording device or to a mixing board. Use the line in function to plug your MP3 player in and play with a song. With a long enough headphone cable, you can even plug this little guy into your floor pedals. I have enjoyed using this little effect more than any other. I know of no other headphone amp that will do as much. This is a must have for any player.

There's nothing worse than a device that makes your guitar sound WORSE than not hearing it at all. The Pocket Rocket might be one of these. As a headphone amp, its not too bad- except for the CONSTANT HISS the thing makes, even with the volume turned all the way down. Horrible. I refuse to use it. I would rather play chess than listento this.

    Great Little Amp

    By Gottobeadean

    from Tallassee, AL

This thing is great. When you want to play and not get fussed at for being to loud. The amp hiss is a little annoying in the clean channel, but it's not the worst thing in the world. If you want to play when people are around this things great.

    Fantastic Headphone Amp

    By Philip Heesen

    from Richmond, VA

I bought this little guy this afternoon and was immediately impressed with it. Three greats tone options with a KILLER stereo chorus for each. The high-gain + chorus sounds like Def Leppard's "Hysteria" or any Boston record. I can deal with the hiss (since I play the guitar more than I sit and listen to silence) and the fact that it's so cheap is hard to beat. My Gibson ES-335 with neck pickup sounded tight and clear, no mud at all. Highly recommended!

    none better

    By Bluesvede

I purchased a rock-it for my bass when they first came out and was satisfied with it's performance. Three years later I've switched to guitar and find this little gem top of the heap. You won't find a better headphone amp on the market. I'm a bit of a gadget freak and have tried the others ~ buy it!

    Forget it!

    By Sariathon

    from London/England

Very disappointed - the hiss is terrible and the one I bought had broken headphones. You can still hear distorted tones even when clean and the overdrive sounds harsh and cheap. I've played this using ESPs, Strats and a PRS and they all sound terrible. Save your money and buy a PDX4 instead - I wish I had done.

    Great Product, kind of expensive

    By BrownBandit

    from Orange County, CA

This is a really great product has a lot of great features but the price tag is just a little out of range for most people, Especially for a headphone amplifier. But all in all has really great sound.

    I hope I got a lemon

    By Spyfunkr

    from Annapolis, MD

I bought this piece of junk from the reviews, and the price point. I was in a hurry to catch a plane, so I couldnt listen before I bought. Terrible hissing, cant even hear the unit in clean setting, chorus setting is only one channel, no mid or bass, just sheer treble. What a disappointment.

Great for practicing without bothering the wife

    By Strat at Night

    from Santa Cruz, CA

This is an excellent sounding and very convenient way for practicing without rocking out the house. The chorus effect is excellent, I have not had any problems with hiss, at all, and I have standard pick-ups in a strat.

    Sounds great, chorus is awesome

    By Jimbo from D.S.A.

    from Austin, TX

I guess the lesson is try out the product before you buy it (regarding the other reviews of hissing). The first one I tried out, I had to jiggle the swithches , even though the salesman took off the pastic and opened it up in front of me. The second one worked great, and I bought it, and its great. The chorus effect is fantastic, and the distortion and crunch tone are good compressed dirty sounds. I kind of wish there was another fader for turning the effects or distortion up or down, but its versatile enough, that would be just a bonus. It sounds much better than the other brands I tried.
