For me, the Pocket Rocket does as advertised. Some reviewers have classed it as a toy and not worth the money.First, this was designed to be a "practice amp" and in the long run, nothing more. Secondly, if you want the sound of a "half stack" in your headphones, this is not the ticket. If you can get past this point you will find it useful and fun to use. In my opinion, it does what it was designed to do and rather well for the package and price. I play a fretted and a fretless G&L L-2000 and the Pocket Rocket affords me the sound I need for a time of practice without disturbing anyone else. The headphones provided are plenty adequate for the unit. The three settings, "Normal" "Bright" and "Distortion" are fairly impressive coming out of an amp working off a nine volt battery. It's built in the U.S.A. and comes with a two year warranty, which is great for a piece of electronic gear these days. There are other units with more features and fluff but if you want something inexpensive and extremely portable, (weighs about 8 ounces and plugs directly into your instrument) it fits the bill.
Don't expect a portable version of your SWRs. I use this to practice at night. I even brought it to my office once so I can practice during my lunch break.I like how you can plug in an iPod or a CD player so you can jam along. You can also hook it up to powered speakers if you want. I tried it on my work PC speakers and it was alright.
this is one of the best pieces of equipment I have bought. Nice, loud sound. Very portable, connected a cd player and played along. great for practice.
I got this the other day. This is a toy! Distorts bad when driven hard. Volume is too low! Head phones distort easyil. When plugged into your instrument it is impossible to see the controls. Will not fit two of my basses because of plug location. Chorus sounds OK. Distortion is mickey mouse. Save your money and get a Pandora! I am very disappointed in this product!
This headphone amp is very awesome. I love the distortion and everything sounds great. It's the best thing I have ever bought and very affordable. I highly reccomend this!!!!
Simply put, this device is not worth the money. There are a number of other headphone amps that provide a broader range of sound.
This product is great to practice with whether at home or in the office. I use it a lot of times when a normal amp would wake the neighbors. A great product and buy.
Worst sound I have ever heard come from any instrument. It is a great idea, but the constant hiss, very narrow dynamic range, low headroom, incessant clipping, and overall distortion make this worse than just practicing with no sound at all. I will never purchase another C Tech product again.
