OVERVIEW

A compact pedal that captures the '60s surf-guitar sound.

Surf's up! And we're all headed to Topanga, Catalinbread's spring reverb pedal based on the legendary Fender 6G15 outboard spring reverb unit! They've captured all the drip, flutter, cluck, clang, and splash of the original tubes and springs unit in a small pedal format!

The outboard spring reverb unit is the sound of surf guitar as well as many other great guitar sounds from the '60s. Part of its magic, and how it differs from the internal spring reverb found in most Fender-style amps, is that it is run *in front* of the amp, causing the reverb signal to distort and get more intense than the internal circuit could. It also had a Dwell knob, which controlled how hard the springs were getting hit by the guitar signal, as well as a Tone knob that gave more control over the reverb sound. It was also essentially a tube preamp, so it would color the sound going into the amp.

All this added up to a very distinctive reverb sound that is hard to replicate. But Catalinbread had to try! And we think they got it! Besides giving you the classic three knob control compliment of the original, they've also added a great discrete preamp that you can control via the Volume knob for a healthy amount of great clean boost when you want it.

Comments about Catalinbread Topanga Spring Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was researching for some spring reverbs and I was close to getting the real thing but I have had horrible experiences with the reverb tanks on amps since they break so easily so I looked for the most realistic spring reverb I could find. This pedal EASILY takes the cake, this pedal is TOUCH SENSITIVE just like the real thing! It seems that it's built very sturdy and so far it is very reliable. I go to town to town on gigs so I am excited to bring this on the road

Comments about Catalinbread Topanga Spring Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal sounds better than a spring reverb tank. I have a fender tube combo and never turn the reverb on. I use the Topanga. It is touch sensitive, the harder you play, the more effect you get. You can dial in as much or as little 'boingyness' as you like. The volume knob love tube amps and this pedal doubles as a boost to naturally drive your tube amp into creamy goodness. This pedal only runs on power supply, no batteries, but it is a small footprint on your board. Turn it on and leave it on.

Comments about Catalinbread Topanga Spring Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

Not as good as everyone says. With volume on full and mix on full not that loud. You give a new co. a chance and they can't compete with the big guys. Had to return it due to loud hum.

I have heard this called the World's best reverb pedal, and it just might be. I haven't used them all. But plug any guitar into my cheap, loud Crate amp and it sounds amazing

Comments about Catalinbread Topanga Spring Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have a Fender Vibro King that has a tube reverb built in. And this is almost as good as it gets.
I have a Fender low powered Tweed that I really wanted to have some 'Verb.
First I plugged in the Topanga into the Vibro King for a A/B test.
The Vibro King has a lush deep sound indeed. When I switched on the
Topanga with similar settings. Just blown away.
The Topanga Reverb was bigger and so very clear,Turned up the gain and it really delivered a punch!
The reverb sound itself sounds great ,none of that flakey after ring pinging I heard on a lot of the other reverb pedals. I turned on a compressor {before the Topanga}. Wow just a great splashy sound.
Of course it really perks up the old tweed. But I like it with the Vibro King reverb on and then kick in the Topanga on top of that for some cool and drippy leads.
Yes I am very happy with my Topanga

Comments about Catalinbread Topanga Spring Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

I purchased the Topanga Spring Reverb pedal to be used with a Fender EC Vibro Champ. I love the amp but I gotta have reverb so there. This pedal sounds just like the real thing, I AB'd the pedal with my Wonderdawg Amp's spring reverb (Deluxe Reverb/Super Reverb Style Boutique Amp) in which the reverb sounds incredible, so after comparing... If I closed my eyes flipping back and forth between the amp's spring reverb and the pedal, I couldn't tell which was which, yeah! It's that close.

I was gonna buy the Van Amps Solemate but was worried about moving it around with it so I decided on the Topanga and I'm very satisfied. I know the sound of a good reverb, I've had vintage '78 Princeton Reverb, '66 Deluxe Reverb and now the Wonderdawg.. these amps have the perfect reverb sound, and I can tell you the Topanga Spring Reverb delivers. I took off one star becasue of value.. the price seems steep for a simple Reverb pedal, other than that is perfect.

Comments about Catalinbread Topanga Spring Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

Surf's up and waiting for you to paddle out. This pedal does it all and is just a fraction of the size and cost of the amp head sized legendary Fender units of old. Made in Oregon which is way cool. The guys at Catalinbread are great. I couldn't stop playing. Not a one trick pony, it's also great for any vintage blues and rock. Get your Woody out and go buy one.

Comments about Catalinbread Topanga Spring Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

Delivers exactly what is being promised. I've tried all kinds of reverb, spring and digital, and none really did it forme. Except the one in the Fender Twin Reverb Amp which unfortunately is not designed for external use. All other reverbs have been sucking energy from the sound, some even made it weak and muddy. The Topanga doesn't, it sound sensational an leaves the original sound completely intact except for a few additional Surf-Mid-Frequencies. Excellent pedal, worth every penny.
