Comments about Chunk Systems Brown Dog Gated Bass Fuzz Pedal:
Its been a good buy but the one thing I would like to mention is that this thing might have a gain problem. Whenever I am plugging it in, it takes a lot of feedback noise. I can't figure out why.

have had pedal for 3 years. sounds great. although it has a lot of hiss, which you dont her when playing. I think the other reviewers has duds.when distortion is turned up to 8 on soft mode and level is equal or greater than clean it screames for me ,keep the gate up if you want a tighter sound. it is a little expensive and although i havn't had a problem it seems a little delicate(no throwing it into your gigbag)

My initial demo of this wowed me more than my own practical usage, but it's still a good unit(I demo'd using a USA Lakland Joe Osborne through a Trace Elliot Mark King preamp, into an Eden something-or-other combo): the distortion effect is very subtle, and has its own mix level compared to the dry - which also has its own mix level; I really liked the resulting mix of natural bass tone with just enough grit for thickness and atmosphere. Alas, it's a little too subtle for my own live usage, and since the main element of my post-bass signal chain is the SansAmp BassDriver DI (with low gain, no grit) the scooped eq removed the nice, subtle warmth of the unit. I still like the sound, but it didn't compete too well with dual guitars through 5150's. (I went back to my Boss ODB3, for a fiercer grind.) I recommend the pedal if you want control over your tone, and don't have to fight for tonal space.

Playing bass over 30 years, have owned many effects pedals; don't waste your time with this one. Mine suffered from shoddy construction resulting in intermittent function, and when it did work, it sounded awful. And the cost!
