I've tested several of Crate's acoustic amps and they all seem to not only create a great sound, but they allow your guitar to still sound like itself rather than modifying the guitar's natural tone. I'd give all of Crate's acoustic amps the thumbs up, just pick out one that's big/small enough for your uses and you'll be happy. And don't write off their smaller amps as being wimpy, they put out a surprising amount of sound.

About the only criticism I'd give Crate is on some of their other smaller models with the knobs on the top of the amp. If your amp is near a wall you have to be careful not to hit your head on the wall as you bend over to make adjustments. That said, for must of us, once we get our amp set to our liking we generally make few adjustments.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to compliment Musician's Friend on how they display their used and scratch & dent items. My amp was a scratch & dent item and they took the time to take several photos of the actual amp, rather than showing pics of a new one and trying to describe the cosmetic flaws in text. My amp arrived with exactly the dings I saw in the pics but it still works fine, just like they said. Thanks for making an online purchase of a ding'd item much less risky.

Overall, this is a great amp and is plenty powerful enough to run my 12-string & vocals thru it.

I won't bad-mouth any of the other acoustic amp mfr's out there because they make good products, too. I have the luxury of a budget that allowed me to consider much more expensive amps but I just kept coming back to Crate because of the great sound. I think the majority of acoustic players/singers will appreciate this amp, as well as Crate's entire lineup of acoustic amps.

Get out there and plug your guitar into one of these amps and hear it for yourself.

Bought this amp to go with my Takamine. On paper this amp seemed to have the most power, best features and best sound control. But once it arrived I was very very disappointed with the sound quality. I tweaked it every way possible, and it just does not sound good. Very muddy and dull, even with effects. I plugged into my friend's Fender acoustasonic which has much less control over the sound, but it sounded much much better. You don't need as much control over the sound when it sounds great to begin with. In summary, this amp has great features for the money, but that's no excuse for bad sound quality. Buy a fender acoustasonic. I'm going to return this one.

Flatpicking Guitar

Comments about Crate CA125DG Telluride 125W Acoustic Amp with DSP:

I bought this amp about a year ago and use it at least once a week. I play older country and bluegrass (flatpicking). I use it with a martin HD-28 and D-28 and is sounds awsome. I also use a fishman pre-amp with it sometimes. So my opinion is it's the perfect amp for what I do and sounds great.

Comments about Crate CA125DG Telluride 125W Acoustic Amp with DSP:

This Amp is the Best You Can Get for the money. The features are wonderful the Effects are great. It produces tone from the warmest lows to crisp Highs to top it off nicely. I've been playing this unit on stage 4 days a week for a year, and it sound perfect everytime I turn it on. If you can't get a good sound out of this amp, its probably time to get a new guitar. I recommend this amp to anyone looking for a great amp at a very reasonable price.

Mostly Dependable - Great Value

Comments about Crate CA125DG Telluride 125W Acoustic Amp with DSP:

I bought this bad boy when I was starting out because I couldn't afford the Fender or Marshall equivalents but still wanted the solid quality and sound. It's been three years now and I have been seldom let down. Besides the standard issues that all acoustic amps face, of feedback if you're not careful, this guy also is a bit touchy about his effects. If the pedal isn't plugged in it decides to turn the effects on, and my indicator lights randomly turn off. I wouldn't mind plugging in the pedal if I used the options but the effects are weak and sub-par. Alternatively I have been using a semi-acoustic through it, as well as a number of Boss distortion effects, and despite the fact it is an acoustic amp it holds up decently to this unconventional set up. This machine is also very powerful. I often use it in large rooms unmic'd and rarely turn it past 11 o'clock. To sum up my long comment, this is a great amp for just an acoustic, and it travels well, and is very powerful. I do, in fact, recommend it.

I really enjoy this amp. It has lots of cool sound that you can create by adjusting the high, low, mid, equalizer, reverb and chorus select. Very versatile. Powerful sound. Uses a mic or aux as well. Tweeters adjust. I have nothing bad to say about this amp. It simply rocks.

      This amp did the job

      By onemanshow

      from USA

Comments about Crate CA125DG Telluride 125W Acoustic Amp with DSP:

I purchased this amp new in December 06. I thought about getting a powered speaker and mixer, but the many features on this amp was the selling point for me. The convenience of the three channels allowed me to use it as a PA and acoustic guitar amp with minimum wires. I thought at 46 lbs it would be hard to lug, but it is surprisingly easy to carry and compact. It can get about as loud as you need it to without distorting. In the 30-50 person venue I used it in on Christmas Eve I never needed to turn it up much. The combination of the three input tone controls along with the 4 band EQ allowed me to dial in a nice tone for the acoustic models on my Variax 700 electric guitar. I used a small mic preamp for an SM57 and plugged that into the mic input. The tone was very clean and realistic on both channels. The effects (reverb, chorus) did not work out well with this setup, because I do like to EQ my guitar to be a bit bassy. The effects will distort with not too much bass. My plan is to use external effects next time, because the amp is fine. What people say about the hiss is true but that can be minimized by EQing and making sure your input is strong. They provide a light that flashes when the SNR is strong enough. I never noticed the hiss at all except when tweaking the amp. I also plugged my POD into this thing and it faithfully reproduced what I normally hear in the headphones or through a PA. I imagine it will work quite well as an electric guitar amp with the POD. I give this amp a 9 only because the effects could be improved, but as an acoustic or multi-purpose amp/PA it's very solid and does the job.

Comments about Crate CA125DG Telluride 125W Acoustic Amp with DSP:

I was looking for an acoustic amp that could do my Taylor 314 CE Limited Edition some justice. Fender, Marshall-I tried them all. The Crate CA 125 DG Telluride 125W w/DSP is hands down the best overall acoustic amp I've used, regardless of price and/or size. The tone I now get from my Taylor is the most crisp I've ever heard it. By setting the Tweeter level to the desired position, it gave it all I was asking for. The manual is easy to follow, nice and basic. The flip-out locking bar underneath the amp was a welcomed surprise as well. The effects are great. Acoustic guitar effects can easily get cheesy, but not here. I'm usually skeptical about buying amps before trying them but I went with my gut and I couldn't be more satisfied. My drummer just got a new drum kit and in our small studio it is VERY loud. But the Telluride can be turned up where it needs to be heard and is still as crisp as ever. If you're thinking about getting this, do it. I'm on a tight budget but it is exactly what my Taylor was needing.

Comments about Crate CA125DG Telluride 125W Acoustic Amp with DSP:

I bought this amp to use as a soloist, playing 2 guitars; an Ovation Legend acoustic/electric and an Epiphone hollowbody archtop electric. I play pop hits, old to new. It sounds great- very clean sound, amplifying voice and guitar with very good accuracy & lots of tone adjustment. The EQ is for both channels so you have to leave it quite flat so the vocal channel doesn't sound funky. The one and only drawback/disappointment is that the chorus effect is not good enough to be useful. It makes your guitar sound like it's playing through a sewer pipe. Get a Visual Sound H2O Liquid Chorus and enjoy your effects sounds forever. The reverb and echo are ok, not great.

Comments about Crate CA125DG Telluride 125W Acoustic Amp with DSP:

I own this amp and have been playing guitar for over forty years. The band that I play in uses the CA125DG Telluride for various applications with vocals, harmonicas, electric steel and acoustic guitars. This amp and its effects, along with the foot switch, are easy to learn and are functional in a live session. It can be used in a small or large playing area with no loss to volume or quality of sound. It works well for solo performances that use guitar and vocals simultaneously. It can also hold its own for sound quality and volume in a group. It can be pluged into a PA system without the loss of personal settings. For quality of sound, versitility and price it either rivals or excels Fender's Acoustasonic SFX II. The manual that comes with it is far easier to understand and gives more relevant info than does Fender's. Peavey, Marshall and Fender owners in the band love it and so will you.

WOW...we have looked at many different avenues to increase our sound attitude. 'Telluride' has done it and more. Crisp, cutting, professional smoothness that cannot be achieved by 'cheap imitations' pure sound, only from your guitar. Line out is a great advantage for recording and live board applications, but this amp has more (125 watts) than enough power to compete with all of the other band members. We play a Martin 00CXE thru this and 'all' are blown away at the sound from this wonderful, incredible sounding amp. Buy it from Musiciansfriend...we did, best choice we have made.

I have two of these amps. I bought the second one after the first one fell out of the back of my pickup at 20 mph! Bashed the case and one speaker and ripped off the rubber feet but due to design of control knob face, not one ding in the knobs!. I got home and plugged it in....no problem! Called Saint Louis Music and ordered a new case and one speaker. Now I can play my Godin in stereo!Hands down...best acoustic amp I have ever had.I play a Martin HD28 with a Baggs I-Beam active through a Roland VG88 or one of two Godin synth ready guitars through a Roland GR33 or VG88.

This is my second CA125D in 10 years. My comments come from honest experience and endless use. I just purchased the awesome green Telluride. It was love at first sight and the price is right ! (POET?) I truly do not believe that a better and more versitle amp cam be found - anywhere - at any price! Boutique-iees are cool and usually very good, others have strong and weak points - but I have yet to discover a weak point in this amp that is worth mentioning. Some will ask for better FX with more control - but not me; I use them sparingly and must admit that I add some pedals for featured sounds. Players - this is a hell of a deal ! ! !
