OVERVIEW

120W of brute force, 18 DSP effects, and much more in an affordable half stack.

Dig if you will the awesome FlexWave120H/FW412 half stack from Crate. If sheer volume combined with tone so outstanding it should be declared illegal is the action you crave, then put this roaring half stack in the cart now.

Producing 120 watts of savage power while sporting three channels and built in effects, it' the perfect head for the gigging maniac. We guess you could use it in your bedroom too, if you don™t mind re-plastering the walls every week.

The FlexWave120H head's FlexWave Evolution preamp uses Crate's patented Sequential Channel Tracking technology, for a tone with balls so big, it needs a jumbo-sized jockstrap. Variable 3-channel operation allows you to switch between twang-adelic clean, hot-as-hell overdrive, and tortured high-gain channels via the included footswitch.

With 18 stereo DSP effects, Channel Tracking of effects settings, and Crate's proprietary Shape Control circuit for sculpting wicked custom tones, it' statistically impossible to dial up a lame sound.

The matching FW412A/B speaker cabinet is designed for the next generation of rock players. These 4x12" cabs are available in slanted (FW412A) and straight (FW412B) models, and are guaranteed to produce gale-force movements of air. With 120 watts of power handling capability, the FW412A and FW412B operate in either stereo or mono at 4 or 8 ohms.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

I bought this amp at my local guitar store. I got a heck of a deal on it. Anyways, the half stack sounds great. Clean is crystal clear and you get so many different dirty sounds out of it you will never get bored with it. The digital effects rock. I keep reading that people cannot turn their effects off and all that. That is not true. If they would read the manual before they played they might just be able to use the amp in the right way. Effects stay on for each channel you use. You simply just have to turn all of the effect nobs down to reset the effects.
I have had my half stack for almost a year now and zero trouble out of her. Don't buy a combo get this. Plenty loud and fills any bar just fine. My buddies couldn't tell if it was tube or not which is a good thing. The reverb, delay and other effects don't sound cheap like a Line 6 amp, they have a studio quality to them. I am now a lifetime fan of Crate.

Everything is great with this amp but like all crate Stacks and Half stacks volume is the negative. The sound just doesnt travel well and most Combo amps will out jam you at high volumes. Some people say its the cabs but its the Head, I use one the crate cabs with a peavy i have and it jams out. For some reason this has been a problem with crate for years. I would go with another brand if your looking for something loud, and I think a half stack should be!! Crate needs to tweek with the volume levels of there larger amps. There simply not loud enough.

Amazing

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW120HS and FW412 Half Stack:

Very happy with it. It is louder than my drummer, bassist, rhythme guitarist (who plays a Marshall) and our p.a. system put together. Sounds great with my Les Paul and with all of my accoustic guitars. Highly reccomended to any practicing musician.
The tonal range is impressive. It's loud enough to shake the neighbors walls. The castors make it very top heavy and easy to tip so be careful.
seems to be very well built.
For the money that I paid for it, you could not find a better amp. Don't buy a combo, get this!

The amp was nice when I first got it, but using it for shows has let me down. Never got a good tone out of it for our live set and eventually the high gain just shorted out on me.

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW120HS and FW412 Half Stack:

This is an awesome amp until it's time to turn it up. The tone rules and it's got a lot of good qualities but it just didnt hold up. My 120 watt Line 6 combo amp turns up way louder then this. My band isnt overly loud either, we turn up barely louder then the drums. If you are playing a show where your amp will get mic'd it'd prolly be an awesome amp to use, but at sleazy dive bar shows or band practice it wont do any good. I tried every possible way to make it louder, I even played a different head through the cab and vise versa, nothing worked. If you want a cheap amp to just mess around with or if you're in a quieter band I suggest you get it, but if you're looking to do other stuff it prolly wont be the best choice.

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW120HS and FW412 Half Stack:

After using this amp for almost 4 years now I'm absolutely pleased in the bang for the buck. The cleans sound beautiful and the overdrive and high gain channels can provide a very wide range of tones from crunch to searing high gain. The only issue i had with this amp at all is the slowly creeping hum that will eventually become very loud over time at high volume. I would not reccommend this amp for gigging. Works best at mid to low volume, the tone just seems to dissappear the louder you crank it. Still definitely worth the price.

Not a good amp for gigs (indoor or outdoor). Amp at top volume, couldn't hardly hear it over the drums.

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW120HS and FW412 Half Stack:

I hear a lot of people giving bad remarks for the crate flexwave half stack. Pro tip- celestial greenbacks added-mod. Mic up your stack to a good PA and blend it all, you will have a great sound for what your looking for. At low volumes and medium bypass the effects pedal so that you only get the gain/overdrive and metal crunch on right settings through bypassed foot switch. You will only have 2 selections usually the first or second will be off and not usuable. For some reason this adds more crunch and bass response for metal type music. On many of my songs I'll turn down the shape shifter all the way, find the best positions aka, sweet spots and shake your house. Mine is the 412h,I payed 175 for it and my lead players mustang 4 solid state sounds like junk compared to mine. He wanted to trade me a guitar and his mustang amp. I said nope. Lol, remember kids it's all in how you use it. Mic up don't blow your speakers, know how to mess w settings and enjoy.
