I bought one of these a couple months ago and I must say it is a nice little practice amp. The spring reverb is what caught my eye on this amp. It sounds better than any digital delay/reverb I've heard. The best feature is the external speaker jack. The internal speaker in this amp is below average and is probably what a few of the other reviewers are complaining about. I have only one thing to say to them. If you don't like the sound of the internal speaker, use the external jack and plug another speaker cab into it-that what the external jack is there for !!! I had a spare 12" Eminence speaker laying around and put it in this amp. Now it sounds REAL good.Just remember one basic fact. This is a small 15 watt PRACTICE amp. It is basically meant to be used in a room to PRACTICE on. If your going to go out and jam with a full band, you need a bigger amp - that is just common sense. To the guy who said this amp isn't very good so he is going to upgrade to a Marshall stack, if you want the sound of a Marshal stack, why did you buy this amp? I would buy another one of these amps in a heart beat if it got stolen. It is light weight, sounds more than good enough to practice on, is easy to carry around, and the price can't be beat.

The biggest issue with the amp is the constantly irritative hum on the Gain channel. The only way to get rid of it is to turn the gain down to 1...course then you have no sound. Quite honestly I didn't buy the amp for its distortion channel anyway. With that said the clean channel is actually pretty impressive for such a small wattage amp. The three band EQ is pretty worthless really. Unless you crank the high and low all the way up and leave the mid in the middle, you can't tell the effect at all. The "additional speaker out" isn't quite what it is advertised as. It is basically just like the headphone out only in a 1/4 instead of a 1/8. That was a dissapointment for me because I wanted the amp to drive my two tens as well. The last of the cons is that the magnate on the back fell off during shipping and scratched the bejesus out of the inside of the cabinet. I've reattached it, but of course it still produces major static on low tones. Needless to say the amp is going back and I'll probably exchange it for the Kustom 12 instead.

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

When I first saw this amp on this site, I thought, "Wow, that must be a piece of s***!" Of course I was referring to the price. Also, I never thought a 15 Watt amp could be so big. I love it. If you want something to practice with, this is it!

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Not a bad little amp - no feed-back. It sounds good clean, and distorted. I play metal, and I use it as a practice amp. I bought this to replace my Fender Front Man 15 watt, which suddenly died on me. It does have better distortion than my old Fender did, but not as much volume. The head-phone jack is just right, not too much for my head-phones,. Again, this is my practice amp, 9 times outa 10, I just use the head-phones and plink away quietly in my room. This is not a GIG-AMP by any stretch of the imagination. But, it does work great. I hope this review helps you in your search for the right amp for you.

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a superb value, but you wouldn't know it from reading some of the other reviews. Apparently some folks bought this expecting it to be a half-stack. The same folks who don't know the difference between overdrive and distortion. I've been playing for 40+ years. Trust me. This amp is incredible.

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

SIMPLE, EASY TOO USE, RELIABLE, GOOD SOUND, DOES WHAT AN AMP IS MADE TOO DO, ALL WITH A 12 INCH SPEAKER WHICH AT THIS PRICE POINT, IS A BIG PLUS. I LIVE IN AN APARTMENT, SO A "TOURING" AMP IS NOT WHAT I NEEDED. I NEEDED A GOOD CLEAN TONE TOO USE WITH MY ZOOM MULTI EFFECT PEDAL, AND THIS AMP WORKS GREAT. THE AMPS DISTORTION, HOWEVER, IS GOOD ON LOW GAIN SETTINGS, ON HIGH GAIN, GETS USELESS. TONE CONTROLS WORK GREAT, AMP IS BASS HEAVY, I RUN IT AROUND 3 TOO 4 MIDDLE ON 6 AND HIGH ON 8, THEN HOOK UP EFFECTS AND IT MAKES THE SOUNDS I NEED. GREAT AMP FOR THE PRICE!

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

An okay starter amp, but I would have got an Orange Crush if I knew about them. Overall its pretty decent, and I like the reverb. Also the fact that you're getting a 12" speaker in an amp in this price range is nice.

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

i've had this amp for quite some time now, and i absolutely love it, the distortion on this amp by itself isn't suitable for metal or death metal, but for alternative rock, it's perfect, the reverb on it is sweet, and the headphone jack on it is also really handy is you want to practice quietly. this is an amazing amp for the price, i recommend this so anyone and everyone who wants a great amp for a great price.

First off, Musicians Friend is amazing, ordered this amp on a Saturday, recived it Tuesday. Perfect condition, well pack and no shipping cost! Now the actual Amp is great, Crate really out did themselves wonderful sound and so many effects to boot! Overdrive really gives this thing a kick in the pants and makes it sounds even better. I STRONGLY RECCOMEND THIS AMP for beginers or just a guy who wants to chill in his living room and play. I would not reccomend this Amp if playing with a drummer, it is not made to stack up against the drumsROCK ON!

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I just wrote a review the another day and had one more comment about this amp. If i had not saw this amp as a restock item, i would have not got one of these. This amp was well worth the money and it just blew me away. What it has in this amp, and what it does for a 15 watt crate, is more that i ever thought it would turn out to be. I am very pleased with how this amp sounds. Just having reverb and distortion for a 12" speaker is very satisfying indeed. A very good practice amp and what more do you need for crate products. I know crate makes good mixer boards, but was not sure about the amps that they made. Boy, was i wrong until after i heard it.

This is the kind of amp i need. Just a simple reverb amp and only 15 watts of power, and with a 12" speaker. Most of your 15 watt amps only have a 8" speaker in them, so this makes it a lot better with a bigger and better sound, also. IT IS A CRATE AMP, BUT I AM HAPPY AND OK WITH IT.

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is my first amp and I've had it for 3 months. It's great for practicing and definitely can get loud if you crank up the volume. Clear sound and barely audible hissing if you are near the amp. Overdrive only sounds good on setting 10. Overdrive settings 1 through 9 don't sound anything like distortion. When distortion is on 10, I barely turn on the volume to hear plenty of sound. I was also disappointed that it did not come with a pedal that switches between overdrive and clean. I like that I can plug my mp3 player into the jack and play through the amp simultaneously with the recording. You need a double ended male plug cable to connect music player to input jack.

This has to be the best cheap good quality amp ever made! It has an exelent sound. It doesn't have very many feautres but you really don't need them with this amp. It has a great Reverb control and the overdrive fuction is just plain awesome. It's a steal, I will defininitly keep this amp forever.

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Good little amp, clean channel is great, I love the spring reverb, which is what made me want to buy it in the first place(a good reverb pedal would probably be a better option if you're serious about it, although this amp will get the job done). The only problem I have with it is that the internal circuitry somehow picks up radio signals and plays them through the speaker. My buddy's Crate (different model) does the same thing. I live in a college town with a lot of local, low-frequency radio stations, which is part of the problem. If you live in a place like this, don't buy a Crate.

This is a good sounding amp, clean or overdriven. I was surprised how well my Epi Les Paul sounds through this thing. The 12 inch speaker plays lower notes excellently and gets loud enough to rattle the window in my bedroom, at about half volume. Doesnt slack much at all on the highs either. If you looking for for a cheap practice amp, look no further. The 12 inch speaker will spank anything in this price range. Even with only 15 watts this thing will likly get louder than a 10 on 30 watts and probably sound better doing it.

I got this amp to go with my gibson faded sg specal and its relly not the best. The clean chanel is relly muddy and unclear. Althow the overdrive not the best but you can get some good tone out of the distortion as long as you keep the eq adjusted good but over all I would recomend something other than this.
