Not a bad little amp - no feed-back. It sounds good clean, and distorted. I play metal, and I use it as a practice amp. I bought this to replace my Fender Front Man 15 watt, which suddenly died on me. It does have better distortion than my old Fender did, but not as much volume. The head-phone jack is just right, not too much for my head-phones,. Again, this is my practice amp, 9 times outa 10, I just use the head-phones and plink away quietly in my room. This is not a GIG-AMP by any stretch of the imagination. But, it does work great. I hope this review helps you in your search for the right amp for you.

The biggest issue with the amp is the constantly irritative hum on the Gain channel. The only way to get rid of it is to turn the gain down to 1...course then you have no sound. Quite honestly I didn't buy the amp for its distortion channel anyway. With that said the clean channel is actually pretty impressive for such a small wattage amp. The three band EQ is pretty worthless really. Unless you crank the high and low all the way up and leave the mid in the middle, you can't tell the effect at all. The "additional speaker out" isn't quite what it is advertised as. It is basically just like the headphone out only in a 1/4 instead of a 1/8. That was a dissapointment for me because I wanted the amp to drive my two tens as well. The last of the cons is that the magnate on the back fell off during shipping and scratched the bejesus out of the inside of the cabinet. I've reattached it, but of course it still produces major static on low tones. Needless to say the amp is going back and I'll probably exchange it for the Kustom 12 instead.

Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:
SIMPLE, EASY TOO USE, RELIABLE, GOOD SOUND, DOES WHAT AN AMP IS MADE TOO DO, ALL WITH A 12 INCH SPEAKER WHICH AT THIS PRICE POINT, IS A BIG PLUS. I LIVE IN AN APARTMENT, SO A "TOURING" AMP IS NOT WHAT I NEEDED. I NEEDED A GOOD CLEAN TONE TOO USE WITH MY ZOOM MULTI EFFECT PEDAL, AND THIS AMP WORKS GREAT. THE AMPS DISTORTION, HOWEVER, IS GOOD ON LOW GAIN SETTINGS, ON HIGH GAIN, GETS USELESS. TONE CONTROLS WORK GREAT, AMP IS BASS HEAVY, I RUN IT AROUND 3 TOO 4 MIDDLE ON 6 AND HIGH ON 8, THEN HOOK UP EFFECTS AND IT MAKES THE SOUNDS I NEED. GREAT AMP FOR THE PRICE!

.
I purchased this one cause my Line 6 spider amp crapped out on me, First off, it's a good amp, ofcourse nothing like a Line 6, But it's ok!! sounds pretty decent, No bells or wistles on this one just distortion and clean, has a decent amount of power thou, im going to have to pick up a MXR pedel to get the real crunch i want, Definitly worth the money!!
Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:
First off, Musicians Friend is amazing, ordered this amp on a Saturday, recived it Tuesday. Perfect condition, well pack and no shipping cost! Now the actual Amp is great, Crate really out did themselves wonderful sound and so many effects to boot! Overdrive really gives this thing a kick in the pants and makes it sounds even better. I STRONGLY RECCOMEND THIS AMP for beginers or just a guy who wants to chill in his living room and play. I would not reccomend this Amp if playing with a drummer, it is not made to stack up against the drumsROCK ON!

Okay this was my first amp. The clean channel cant handle distortion pedals so i had to use the overdrive channel and use the distortion with the it suck i blew it and the volume was on 7 so dont buy!
Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:
i've had this amp for quite some time now, and i absolutely love it, the distortion on this amp by itself isn't suitable for metal or death metal, but for alternative rock, it's perfect, the reverb on it is sweet, and the headphone jack on it is also really handy is you want to practice quietly. this is an amazing amp for the price, i recommend this so anyone and everyone who wants a great amp for a great price.

When I first saw this amp on this site, I thought, "Wow, that must be a piece of s***!" Of course I was referring to the price. Also, I never thought a 15 Watt amp could be so big. I love it. If you want something to practice with, this is it!
Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:
I bought this amp for a cheap practice amp which I could hopefully play with a band if need be. While it definately does not outperform my 50w ibanez amp (I didn't expect it to) this little amp reproduces great tones at a high enough volume to play with a drummer. Compared to other 15W amps (even my other 15W crate with an 8" speaker), this guys shines at high volumes. My complaint is that at low volumes there is a hissing/crackly sound which does not go away. I have to turn it up over 50% volume to get a truly "clean" sound on the clean channel. Anything higher than about 70% on the clean channel starts to get an overdriven sound looses clarity. I do have active pickups(EMG-81's) however my other guitars with normal humbuckers still hiss/crackle. The overdrive channel has a great sound and is one of the best amp overdrives I have played through. You do have to turn the gain up all the way to get it to sound that way, but the amp rocks with the high gain and the 12" speaker. The spring reverb is also a very nice sounding touch. In the end, this amp will outperform every other 15W out there but at low volumes the hissing definately gets annoying. The features are extremely basic but crate did not slack on the ones provided. If you can play with the amp loud most of the time it is worth every penny. If you aren't going to turn it up, just stick with a standard 8" or 10" practice amp for a little less cash.
Comments about Crate FlexWave FW15R 15W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:
This is my first amp and I've had it for 3 months. It's great for practicing and definitely can get loud if you crank up the volume. Clear sound and barely audible hissing if you are near the amp. Overdrive only sounds good on setting 10. Overdrive settings 1 through 9 don't sound anything like distortion. When distortion is on 10, I barely turn on the volume to hear plenty of sound. I was also disappointed that it did not come with a pedal that switches between overdrive and clean. I like that I can plug my mp3 player into the jack and play through the amp simultaneously with the recording. You need a double ended male plug cable to connect music player to input jack.
