I picked up my FW120H about 1 1/2 years ago and it is still going strong. If you need power, this will give you all you want with multiiple channels, you can go from overdrive, or super high gain toone of the cleanest channels you'll find. It is a great lead head without the built in effects, which are extremely variable. Personaly I've been hard pressed not be able to creat nearly every sound that I wanted and I've been playing 40 years. Mine is paired up with an old(80's)Randall 4x12 slant loaded with Celestion speakers and together they will definatelyRock a stage. I't gets used about 4 nights a week plus practice time and can handle the mistreatment. Oh!! and it's got a tuner too.Only trouble I've had with it was a couple tone pots getting a little noisy and a shot of electic contact cleaner took care of that. This amp is a LOT of bang for the buck and I would put it up against a lot of high dollar tube amps. Great Buy.

first off, the tone in this thing is pretty good for being a solid state. kinda sucks at high volume, but what do you expect for the price?I got this head for Christmas about a year and a half ago and right off the bat, i had problems. The reverb was constantly on full blast, flanger kept cutting in and out, delay wouldn't work, and the high gain channel came and went as it pleased.I took it to Dallas (closest repair center) and they supposedly "fixed it". month later, same problems. this cycle continued for about a year until I took it to a REAL repair center (a local shop) and the took one look at the circuit board and said three words: What the (4 letter expletive). Circuit board had corrosion everywhere. so, as a word of warning to everyone, DON'T get this amp. It's definitely not worth the trouble.

Comments about Crate FlexWave Series FW120H 120W Guitar Amp Head:
This amp was all I could afford to start up my band, but it is a waste of time and not worth the money. The amp couldn't get loud enough and the effects kept cutting in and out randomly. I had issues with the high gain just cutting out and believe there is a short now in the wiring. If you're looking for an amp head, don't sell yourself short and go cheap. Save up

Comments about Crate FlexWave Series FW120H 120W Guitar Amp Head:
PROS: Good, durable amp. Great for practice and smaller venues. Perfect punk/thrash/metal sound.
CONS: NOT LOUD ENOUGH. Knobs/Dials a little fragile if you just throw it into the back of the van (obviously), but easily replaced. FX a little ... meh, but better than nothing.
Comments about Crate FlexWave Series FW120H 120W Guitar Amp Head:
I've been in a three piece band for a couple of years now and have been using a Crate 1 x 12 combo amp miced through the PA. Not long ago I came across an inexpensive 4 x 12 cabinet that I soon loaded with Celestions. After a month of looking at heads in this price range, I settled on the Crate because of the past experience I had with them. For the money, I couldn't be happier. It's really easy to use, all three channels sound great and the footswitch to me is a must have. If you want a tight and punchy high gain channel with loads of distortion, this is your amp. The effects aren't bad either. Look, I've already done the homework for you. You wont be sorry!
Comments about Crate FlexWave Series FW120H 120W Guitar Amp Head:
I got this amp about 5 months ago, and the only issue i have is the fx are so-so. I run a Boss distortion pedal through it and it is killer, with all my guitars. The volume is outstanding for what i need it for. So iof you are a beginner, then this is an amp you should consider.

This amp is a monster for the price. It's solid state but again it's very loud, 120Watts. The 3 chan. can be set at very clean, bluesy then metal. Yes it can have a lot of distortion but for the pinhead that complains, just turn the dist knob down. The effect could be better but all the necessary ones are there. All you need is a wah-wah pedal and you can play just about anything. Pricewise, it's a five star.
Comments about Crate FlexWave Series FW120H 120W Guitar Amp Head:
Overall, when I tried this at my local music store with my pedal setup for my 2x12 flexwave combo amp it had the same problems. The tuner sucks, the drive is to distorted past 5, the low gain middle channel is ok but noisy. The only thing that is weird is that this cheap ass head on clean sounded amazing with my Digitech Rp1000 and I cant find any better sound. If they fixed the high gain drive, the dsp phasing in and out unless you use the footswitch and the tuner, This amp would be golden.

I have this head..and i hate it..its the worst sounding amp you could possibly buy..not to mention if you turn it up over 5 it feeds back like you wouldnt believe...dont buy this..ever.
Comments about Crate FlexWave Series FW120H 120W Guitar Amp Head:
I got this thing about 5 months ago because I needed a head quick. Price was right so what the heck right? Within 3 months the FX were coming on at random and NOT turning off. Took it into a tech to have it "fixed" he said it was an absolute mess inside. 2 weeks later it was happening again. Now I have to take it back again. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and save your money for a decent head.
Comments about Crate FlexWave Series FW120H 120W Guitar Amp Head:
In all honesty, I've had this amp for three some odd years and while it's not the greatest amp out there, it's not absolutely horrendous either. This is a solid entry level guitar amp. It gives sufficient power and manageable tone, you just have to learn how to make it work for you.I have run this head through several cabs (except for the matching cab. I bought the head only when it first came out like three years ago), finally sticking with an old Carvin cab that seems to really complement the amp. It really gives the low end a nice boom, it almost doesn't sound as digital as with other cabs. I very rarely use the high gain channel due to the loss of tone and feedback at higher volumes. The effects sound nice with the clean channel and you could do some cool stuff with it. I never use the effects due to the previous issue with the gain (it just makes it all sound like a mess). So if you're starting off with a budget or just need an extra amp for practice or small jam session, this amp would do the job nicely. If you want to ask more from it then be prepared for a little disappointment or for an extensive search for the proper cab.
