This amp is an ok practice amp, but is definitely not loud enough for even small clubs. Buy the blue voodoo.
I've been playing this amp for almost a year now. I got it last x-mas because it was cheap and I needed an amp...I wasn't excpecting much but my first riff I played on it was awesome. If you don't have any distortion pedals then you'll have to switch to solo and turn the gain to 10 to get any good distortion. Also the solo channel is pretty quiet but the clean channel is crisp and clear and I use it with a Digitech Death Metal Analog distortion pedal for an ultimate combination. I definitely reccomend this amp to anyone who needs the power for a cheap price it hasn't failed me yet.
As a fan and use of crate's products, I love this set up. I am personally saving up to get this stack because I love the lighted and angled control disply. Nothing compares to this one of a kind feature. On top of that crate tossed on a cromatic tuner just in case you dont have or want a pathetic little pedal tuner. Then there is the finnisher, 16 digital effects including like 2 or 3 echos, 2 diffrent wahs, and my personal favorite the dubbler. Then thay make the amp "smart" with their tracking system, I like to go from the rythem with the dubbler to the solo channel w/ the inverse wah. Its a leap into the next generation of amps. However I personally believe that this amp is just a little on the high end priced stacks. If you have the bucks and you like crate amps- buy this amp asap!
This is a powerful and versatile amp. as good as any marshall i've played that's twice the price. everything an amp needs to be without burning a hole in your pocket.
I use a smaller version of Crate and I'm addicted to it! Crate gives me better sound than our lead guitarist's Marshall. It also gives an unreal crunch. It's perfect for people who love it loud!!
I have only tried the half stack version but am getting the full stack. the effects are sick, like the octave diver thing.. awsome for intro'sit has a real nice low end and good for and small to medium size gig.. the heavy distorion is also nice, for the price you cant beat it. I could spend that much on pedals..
great power and great sound. this amp can compete with any tube amp out there.
I have used this amp and dont like it. I will only use crate so im not going to bash it to much but here is the truth. It has alot of buzzing sounds when turn it up real loud which I personaly like to do. Also the effects arent that good. I would recomened trying a louder amp that does not buzz this amp might be cheap but I guess get what you pay for.
