I bought this amp because I needed something louder on stage and in practice. I wasn't expecting what I got. A Great amp at a great deal. This thing is awsome. Not only does it have big sound but it also is a bit more compact than the compitition and that important when it comes to touring and packing/unpacking everynight. It also comes in handy when you have limited room. The tone is great too. Thick and beef to thin and twangy. I play in a rock band and the Thickness is awsome for both Godsmack type sounds to Lynard Skynard and everything inbetween. I also dabble around a bit with some country playing friends and the twangy sound that it makes comes in great with single coils and a little distortion. The clean channel is crystal, and I mean crystal clear. That is the one thing I have always liked about mosfet amps clean channels. The only disappointment I have is the effects loop. I wish it had an in and out rather than one plug using a ring/tip/sleeve configuaration. I also don't much like the one speaker output, I rather like the dual speaker outputs. Other than that I think I can deal with it, Crate wins my awards again, keep 'em coming. Mike

Well, to start off. If you play in a heavy metal band like I do. You will not be able to hear yourself at all over the drummer. Second, the distortion is not that great, it sounds like mud no matter what the hell you do. Even if you play it at low level. If you crank the gain channel, it'll square wave and loose the distortion and tone and it'll sound like crap. The clean channel, is magnifecent, it sounds crystal clear. And it is easy to get the sound you want out of the clean channel.Fourth, the reverb is nice, it's pretty good, but not to good, just, decent. Last, if you only want the full stack just to jam in your room, with pedals for good distortion (You have to have good pedals to get a good distortion) Then I would say get this amp, it's worth $700 just to practice in your room, but if you want a stack for band practice, I would recommend the Peavey Valve King 100 watt all tube amp head. But for this amp, remember, you get what you pay for, so make sure you play it first and decide if you like it. Like I said DO NOT buy this for a band, if you think just because it's a stack it'll get loud, don't mean that it'll be loud, it just means it's big, and bulky. My Fender combo amp can get as loud as this amp.

Hey everybody out there.. dont let this price full ya. I just got it about 2 days ago, and man i havent stopped playing it. I assume you all think it's too good to be true, but it's not. It's almost about 6' tall. And is VERY loud. Great Clean sound. i play death metal and this amp rocks for it! so dont delay get it soon before the offer ends or something.
This amp rocks. It has great tone and the distortion is the bomb!
this amp does the job,the distortion is great all by itself, the overdrive channel is perfect for blues..clean channel is good.Overall i made the right choice.you cant beat 8 12 inch speakers and 120 watts of power.Crate rips your face off with this amp.Youll never find a better amp than this for the money.
When i got the amp i decided to wait a while to write a review just to be sure but the bottom line is "this amp is awesome" no one will argue that you can find more powerfull amps but not for this price you wont. The reviews are right you'll want to use a pedal for effects and distortion but only because a pedal is slightly more flexable, im using a digitech rp200a with this amp and it freakin screams. My band plays metal and with this amp and a good pedal your ready to gig no doubt about it. Every guitar player wants toys so owning a pedal is just a natural thing so GET THIS AMP! But just as a side note i have EVERY intention to use the amps distortion in the event of a pedal malfunction the stock distortion IS good if you just play with it in case of emergency this amp will deliver. The low end crunch is insane so get this amp (am i making my point) seriously if you got the cash and want a hardcore sturdy rig this is definately for you.
I bought the Crate 1200 full stack from Perry Combover. This thing is so loud and thumpy it empties my bookcases...on the clean channel! Which by the way is fantastic. Excellent reverb on this thing. One of the best springs I've ever heard. Only bad thing are the speaker cables, pretty sub-par. Replaced with monsters, good to go. Crate made a good product here, the flexwave does give a pretty good brown burn at volume. I play a Gibson '76 Explorer and a Fender Aerodyne Tele, the Hagstrom Viking is on the way. Kids, start more rock bands!
Ok, I've had this stack for about 2 weeks now and the day I got it, I ended up having a gig in three days. The set up was great and i could hear myself over most things. It was as loud as it should be. But i would recomend a higher cab wattage (200 or higher) to get some SOUND. But it's great for small gigs and big pratice. The clean channel is excellent. The rythem and solo chanels aren't really any thing, so just play some foot pedals through the clean. Great Stack for the money. Well priced.
I remember first seeing this thing on the internet, I thought it would've been amazing. Well the other day I came across this. I went ahead and tried out the solo channel, at first it sounded very muddy, so I thought I'd go ahead and get a nicer guitar with better pickups and everything...didn't change a thing. The solo channel on this stack is amazingly disappointing, my practice amp (crate xt120r) has a better sounding solo channel than this thing, the clean channel sounded ok, but still a little muddy. Last of all, the rythym channel didn't sound any better, so if I were you, I'd try out the head on some different cabs with better speakers, it may or may not fix it. But this package is not worth the money, you will not be satisfied, and i never thought i'd say it, but crate made one crappy stack.
This full stack is the only product i've ever found that has great sound and is actually affordable for someone who plays a lot of gigs and wants powerful sound. It has a great crunch tone and the clean is very easy to listen to.
I just got this amp about two months ago and I'm still amazed at how great it is. I decided to wait a while and test it out before I gave it a review and it has proven to be very worthy. I would definitely suggest buying this amp if you are an intermediate artist.
You won't be disappointed with this stack, and at this price you'll think you're ripping them off! I just got the second cab to make it a full stack yesterday, and does this baby sing! Great clean tones and the hard distortion effects, such that bands like Alexisonfire and Avenged Sevenfold use. Don't let the size fool you, the casing may be small, but it'll pack pretty much the same as a Marshall 1960 cab, the housings just smaller.
This stack is awesome. For the money you can't beat it. I've played through many in my time. I was really surprised by the overall sound of this amp. You won't regret the money invested in this awesome stack. I highly reccomend.
I bought the Head of this Stack separately. The GT1200H is a great sounding little head and amazing value for the money. I think the reason most people are complaining about the volume is that the cabs in this stack are only 100Watt. I purchased a 4x12 slanted 250Watt cab to go with mine. It is loud and amazing! I think the Crunch and Lead sounds are great and the clean channel is very crisp and clear. I would definitely recommend the head to anyone.
I purchased this amp about 3 weeks ago to upgrade from my old Behringer. I actually found this amp online about 6 months ago, and was amazed to find a full stack for such an incredible price. I have been saving up for a while and finally got the money to order the stack. Wow, was I not disappointed. First off, the clean channel is incredible. The reverb is perfect, and it can make any electric guitar sound smooth and pretty. The overdrive channels can really roar as well. When you turn on the distorted channel and then add the solo over top, it has such a sweet, full sound. I play in a punk/alternative rock band, and this amp was exactly what I was looking for, at an amazing price. I would highly recommend it.
I just got the G1200H, and wow. I know this sounds scary, but I use it for guitar and bass. Believe it or not it is awesome for both. Great sound!!!
I used this amp at a band practice, it was my friends, and while playing, I had it turned up to about 3 and it was amazingly loud, it was making my clothes flap in the wind. It is such a powerful amp. The solo channel is amazing, and the distortion channels are really good too. This amp is great for Hardcore style of music, and bands that play alot of shows. I suggest that everyone who is in a Hardcore band go buy this amp right now.
I bought this at Thanksgiving, but I wanted to give it some time before rating it. The comments about the clean channel are right; it is outstanding. The solo and rhythm channels are just so-so. I cheat and use the Digitech RP50 for my distortion and effects through the clean channel and it works swell. If you are really snobby about tubes vs. solid state amps, nothing will ever convince you that this is a good stack, but it is. I couldn't give it straight 10's because of the substandard distortion, but you will not find a better stack for the money.
everybody, i own this crate full stack, and if your looking for a GREAT sounding amp this is it. It is about as tall as me, i'm 6'1. and the cabs are pretty light. good for on the go moving. 100% happy with this stack, i recommend it! go get 1, heck.. get 2!. -good luck-
this amp is by far the best ive played. my brother has a marshall mg halfstack, and he lent it to me to play a show, and i blew. i just recently got this amp, and it is by far the best amp ive ever played!
I played this at a local music store. I was not dissapointed there was nothing wrong with this it's perfect. The distortion is unbelievable, and if your into any kind of metal get this AMP!!!
Well, I received this amp as a present from my parents. the cabs are extremely compact, but it's not the size that counts, it's the power the head puts out. The amp has suprisingly good tone for a stack at this price, the reverb is magnificent. If you use the rhythm channel with reverb you can get a sound that is similar to David Gilmore's guitar solos. The amp is extremely loud. The sound is perfect from every channel, and it is all around the best amp on the market.
