All I have to say is wow. I've played Crates in the past, and this thing doesn't even sound like a Crate. This thing, this monster, sounds like a roaring lion of immense power! I play mostly modern metal and hardcore, and this thing delivers. I would gladly pay twice the price for this thing. There are so many tonal options with the distortion, you can make it sound similar to a jcm800 sound, a pantera sound, or even make this thing sound like a krank or mesa. The distortion isn't that digital crappy-sounding junk, its creamy, but its chunky and full of gain. Think twice about your Mesa or Krank or Marshall you have your eye on. BUY THIS NOW!!

I've had this amp for over a year now. I use a digitech pedal board with it. The problem I have with it is when the volume is loud there is this high pitch that no matter how you tweek it you can't get rid of. But thats the solid state for ya. Everytime I get on a tube amp the problem isn't there. Other than that, good amp.

The Sonic Monster!!!

By amonnan2

from Atlanta.GA

I've owned the Shockwave for 1 1/2 years and it is a superb piece of equipment. I've had Marshall and Peavey tube amps that costed me twice as much, yet this amp competes with them on every level. I play rock, blues, funk,Santana and fusions without any problems. Why did they quit making these? If you can buy one get one. You really won't miss the tubes and the matching cabinet is loaded with Celestions!

Amazing

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I just got this amp a little while ago and it's absolutely amazing. i will never understand for the life of me why they were discontinued. I've played all sorts of amps, marshall, peavey, whatever you name it and this beast beast them all out in my opinion. great for metal but i've used it for plenty of other styles (blues, lighter rock, etc). this thing competes with my buds mesa dual rectifier even. truely the best amp for its price range. if you can find one, do not hesitate, get it

The Only Head You Will EVER Need

By GuitarMan98

This head is nothing less than Amazing. I bought this Crate about 2 years ago and I am still trying all the different combinations of sounds that come from this monster. The head has 350 Watts which is more than enough for anyone. I use it with my Black Vodoo 200W Cab, and I never have to even use the full 200W, even in shows! The clean channel is so pure, you will get nothing but clean tone when played. I use a Schecter Omen 6 (blue) guitar with my amp set up. My guitar is an average quality guitar, and I still can keep it as clean as I want. The two distortion channels on this beast are insane. I personally only use the "solo" channel because it is heaver then the other distorion channel called "rythem" You will never need to buy distortion pedals again. Hook this baby up to a mixer and you can even add more high, med. , and low effects to your sound.I would definitly reconmend this head for guitarist that are looking for a pure sound on the clean channel and anythin from a light to heavy rock sound out of the distortions!! Guitarist that are looking for sounds from todays hard rock / heavy metal bands will fall in love with this head. This head is not for the light hearted..... lol.

Good Amp

By Gary-u7ovq

from Colorado

I've owned this amp for probably over a year now and for sure it is a real good amp for the price. It's plently loud, I played all sizes of shows with this amp and it didn't let me down. You can also get a lot of good tones out of it. The clean channel was really good, 2nd channel I didn't really care for, third channel was excellent because you could make it sound heavy with all the gain. Plus the reverb is way sick. Very good amp, probably would have to say one of the best solid state I've heard. It still doesn't compare with my mesa's sound though.

I have been playing through Crate for 16 years, and they have never left me down. The Shockwave is no different, it is so clear on all sides of the volumes from low to high. You can feel your leg hairs vibarate. Trust me, you don't have to play through a expensive stack to sound good, just be good....and crate will do the rest. And you can still afford gas for the rest of the week.

Great Amp/Power Rating

By Humancapo

from Cambridge, UK

This amp delivers every watt promised. The GT3500H puts out 350 watts into a 2 ohm load (two 4 ohm cabs give you a 2 ohm load). With a 4 ohm load it puts out 220 watts, 8 ohms 160 watts and at 16 ohms it gives you 100 watts. Most players know better than to run a solid state amp at 16 ohms because you waste power. Something to consider when choosing a cab for this beast. The bottom line is there is ton's of tone and power.

Nasty good

By Great-Ytsry

from Boston

This amp is great, it's got all the power you can imagine, rattles windows and shakes the floor at 3, the tone is great, the clean channel is crisp, the rythem channel has great tone, though not enough crunch for anyone whos into the heavier stuff like myself. For that you have to go to the solo channel, and you get perfect crunch, the solo channel uses the lows highs and mids of the rythem channel and you can get a perfect metallica sounding crunch, with tons of other variants as well. This is perfect for anyone who is really into guitar and wants to step it up a bit. I've played marshalls, line 6's, peavey's, all of them, and this gives you a perfect sound for a great price.
