When I bought the RFX 15 as a practice amp, I was expecting it to have poor to average tone which is characteristic of most amps in this price range. Boy was I wrong. On the clean channel, this amp rivals the tone of a high end tube amp that I own. The reverb is exceptional, and the tone is thick and very well rounded when paired with a Strat or a Les Paul. The overdrive channel is great, too. With a little tweaking, this amp has the potential to sound like a hi gain halfstack at low to medium volume, even without effects pedals. It sounds great with blues, rock, punk, or metal. This amp sounds so good that I would not hesitate to mic it and use it live if it didn't have a slightly audible noise on the lead chanel. That's the only drawback to this little amp. It has some low-volume hiss that will be heard if it's mic'd and run through the house. But the tone sounds so good that the low volume hiss should not keep anyone from buying it, because it sounds much better than any other amps in its price range. Buy it. You will not regret it!!!
recently got this amp, and love it. get's a great fender tone with the first reverb selection, worth the price alone. you can play hard and the speaker does not break-up. incredible sound for a low-priced amp. most of the dsp effects are good, some aren't that hot but the good ones sound amazing. hard to believe it's an 8 inch speaker. well worth the money. a great sounding amp at any price.
The effects knob does not click into position and it is hard to select the effect you want to use.The overall volume is better than most budget amps.I did a demo of all of them on the day I went to the store. The reverb channels and effects are OK.You cannot set the parameters of the effects, but they have varous pre-set types. The clean channel sounds good with an acoustic pickup and the middle reverb selected. This is NOT a spring reverb, but it sounds pretty good anyway.
This amp is totally awesome! It beats every other 15watt amp out there. Great clean sound, distortion, cd input, plus an array of digital effects. It can get pretty loud as well being only 15 watts. The amp handle looks nothing like the picture though. Buy it, you won't regret.
I was working in New Orlines for the Katrena disaster.I needed a small, portable amp so I bought this one.Now my big amp lives in my basement, and I use this one for everything.I walk in to a gig guitar over my sholder and amp in one hand. The other guys laugh until they hear it.It takes me about thirty seconds to set up and tear down and I just mike it if the room is to big.
I used to have one of those little vox 15-watt amps, and that thing don't even come close to this. First off they were about the same price, but the vox featured only a single channel with tremolo and reverb. With this amp I got 2 great sounding channels pluse some really cool effects. Second, this thing just sounds way better than the vox, the clean channel is the most quiet I've ever heard on an amp in this range. If you need a small little practice or recording amp, you can't go wrong with this.
This is a great practice amp. The extra features are nice. There are two things I should point out, though. The first,(as stated by another reviewer) the knobs are loose. And second, the handle is completely different than shown. I can't even fit my fingers under it. Besides that, I love it.
I loved this amp.I recieved it as an early birthday present. My other amp is a 75watt Line 6, and I bet the 100watt version of this is amazing. I bought it because i wanted to keep my amp at my drummers house, and have a good practive amp. This thing does the job, its small, but holds incredibly loud sound. Its crazy! It has a lot of features, I'd like to see more though. ONLY 2 channels Solo and Clean, but both do a decent job. This amp is perfect for playing classic rock, stuff like Led, Hendrix, Sabbath, and more. I even play some avenged sevenfold and it doesnt sound bad, actually, on the solo channel it sounds quite nice. The look is absolutely amazing. I love the vintage look of it. Quality is good, knobs were a little loose though, but it doesnt hurt. Overall, I love this amp, and I would get this over the versions with more wattage. Simply put, even with the 100watter, I wouldnt be performing with it, not cause its bad, its a great amp, but for shows, you really need a half-stack/full stack. Great product, and it plays all styles of music. The T-wah effect is my favorite. So for *** bucks i say go for this one, and not its larger brothers. WARNING: This amp does get reaLLY LOUD for a 15watt. This is the best purchase of my whole year, including last year!
I practice at home everyday, using jam tracks or CD/mp3's. The "cd" input is really nice for this. The headphones capacity let me continue my practice very late at night. On weekends I can entertain my wife and kids without meking them go deaf. The digital effects are nice even though they have no level control or "remembering" feature. The 2 channels sound quite good for family and friends entertaining. It came with a loose screw, but nothing serious!.
I got this amp for Christmas and I play it everyday. It's one of the best amps for this price. This amp rattles everything around it when turned up. It's great for beginners wanting both a good clean channel and solo channel. The effects are some of the best ever put into an amp.
