I can't believe this thing is solid state! This is an awesome amp. I picked it up as a practice amp as it is very similar to the "V series" tube amps & recently, I've been gigging with the V112 50 watt tube amp. But I'm now using this thing, the RFX30, for gigs. It is so much easier to move around, awesome tone, & its solid state, so its very dependable. I can't comment on how it would sound with humbuckers, but it is great for single coils. It's a nice match for a strat. I own a Fender Blues Jr., a Fender Blues Deville, & a Crate V11250, & Tech 21 60, and each of those cost over $400. But what is my best sounding amp?? A under $300 Crate solid state!
This amp is awesome. I had previously owned a really cheap amp with the worst sounds possible. But when I got my new Fender Tele I knew I had to uprade. So I looked around for a few months and found this guy. I was actually going to go for the Vox Valvetronix 30 watt with the effects. When I went to guitar center they didn't have any in stock. So I look around and see this Crate amp that is almost identacle to the Vox one(same price too). I tried it out and loved it. The sound is so much better than the regular 30 watt Crate makes. This amp is really loud too. I haven't tried it with my drummer yet but I'm sure it will kick over it. A really nice feature about this amp is the tuner. Its really nice not to have to plug in to a tuner or buy a pedal one. The thing works really good. The effects are nice too. Im surprised that the auto wah in it works as well as it does. It also has a speaker line out so you can plug into a cab. Super nice amp for a decent price. Consider this when you are buying an amp.
I just recieved this amp a couple of weeks ago, and I could not be any more blown away than I already am. First off, it looks great with the vintage colors and grill (gold and black). The gold knobs are really nice and tight, easy to use, and very responsive. It couldn't be easier to get all the tones and gains that I need. The DSP FX are all usable, clean, and they sound tremendous. The shape knob for the overdrive channel is great, the level knob for the amount of wet you want on your FX is also just great. Plenty of good clean and overdrive power. The on board tuner is a dream, calibraton is perfect 440. Also this beautful amp is built amazingly well. Folk's this is a no brainer. When you get this amp you will be blown away in every way as was I. Hurry before they are gone!
I just got this amp last week...and it is a joy to use. Paired with my Strat (Vintage Noiseless pups), the clean tones are some of the best I have had, definitely an upgrade from my old crappy amp. The effects are clean and crisp, with several options for some effects, which i enjoyed, although a reverb knob would be nice. Only thing I'm not a big fan of is the tone shaping on the solo channel, but an overdrive pedal adds just the right amount of color. Fantastic Value!
I just got this amp and it's Great. I like the onboard tuner, the Retro Looks. Very well made. Nice distortion and great effects. A really good value at this price...Grab it before their gone.
Great amp. I was a little dissapointed with the lack of options to shape your tone on the gain channel, but overall i'm very happy with it. It has a nice overdriven sound when on low levels, I never turn it past 11 o' clock on the dial. I keep the "shape" knob on about 10 also. At first I was unsatisfied with the clean sounds but after awhile(i've had this amp for almost 2 years)I've been able to shape and capture some pretty grat tones. I would say it was a steal for the money crate sells it for. The effects are nice too. Warning though, not for high distortion use.
I traded in a Fender G-DEC for this super amp. Could never get a clean sound from the G-DEC and it was very labor intensive to customize the sound you wanted. I did alot of comparing (Vox ADT30, Fender Blues Jr, Crate Palomino, etc). The DFX was the best value best sound for the $$. The Clean is super clean the Overdrive was incredible. It's a great practice amp cause of the extra head room from the 30 watts, and the effects are crisp. Has enough power for small gigs. Looks impressive too. I'd give it a 10 if it was a Class A tube amp.
I just received my RFX30 today and was very pleasantly surprised. It came very well packaged with no damage at all. It appears to be very solid and well made; far better than many of the small amps I've seen. I was even more surprised after plugging it in. Lets be honest; it's a small, basically practice amp, which was exactly what I wanted. The clean channel is clean with a nice Fenderlike sparkle. The overdrice channel cooks nicely, and has a surprising ammount of bottom. The effects are fun, and with a footswitch, are easy to use.All in all, if you're looking for a practice amp with a bit more punch than a 15 watter, this should do the trick. Just don't have the expectation that it will sound like a terrific tube amp. But for what it is it's pretty darn good.
Most excellent Amplifier. Am using it with a Gibson 335 w/dual vintage humbuckers. I typically play it "clean" with occasional chorus effect. Very portable. Marvelous sound quality. Simple to use. The 30 Watts provide plenty of output for home practice or playing with a group.Quality seems to be outstanding.
This is one of the cleanest and best sounding amps I have ever played through. The effects in this thing are really nice. The clean sound is so crystal clear. It has no buzzing at any volume. The lead channel is pretty nice too. There is only a slight buzz on high volumes which is expected. But remember when the distortion is cranked all the way that will happen with any amp. Nice, loud, great sounding amp that comes with a reasonable pricetag.
