I bought this amp a month ago and so far, so good. It took me awhile to dial in the tone I wanted but once I got it, it sounded sweet. I use it with a Squier Tele (dual hum buckers). I like the fact that it breaks up quick as a hi-gain amp should.A little quibble...when I took the amp out of the box, the reverb know fell off. No big deal but it was a sealed box and you don't usually expect that to happen. The unit seems pretty solid otherwise. No frills or extras but that is what I was looking for, a clean, warm sound and plenty of gain when I needed it. For the price...it's a really good buy.
Well I just bought this amp at a local guitar shop and I?m really happy with it. It has a great sound through the 5 groove tubes and can get pretty loud for its size. It works well at small gigs but you have to turn it up almost all of the way. I bought it on sale and it was well worth it. Another great thing about this amp is that it?s simple to use which is something I like. You don?t have to fiddle with 50 knobs to get the volume up. It sounds really crisp and has great overdrive. There is only one channel but I play blues and it works perfect. If you wanted to keep the drive down for rhythm id suggest buying a tube screamer. All in all for my first tube amp and very happy and with the 5 year warranty I have nothing to worry about.
I purchased this amp. as a blem model, thinking that it would be just as good as a Fender Blues Jr. I might have just gotten a "lemon", but when I turned on the amp., it picked up a local radio station. I returned the amp. and replaced it with a Blues Jr. I will not purchase another Crate tube amp.
This seems to be a pretty sick amp. I didnt want a bunch of BS doodads and lame digital effects, though they could have included a line out, effects loop, or something like that. Nice wide range of sounds you can get out of this amp. All the gain youll need in the preamp; roll back the gain on the preamp some and turn up the power amp for a nice thick distortion sound. I use a schecter omen 6 with seymour duncan pickups (sh6b and sh2n) and it goes great with this amp. Great little amp for micing up and recording.
Found this guitar amp to be quite comparable and in some ways, even better quality sound than other 15-Watt all tube amps in its class and price range (eg, Fender Blues Jr. - Spring Reverb unit, etc.).
