Oozes vintage tube tone.
The Palomino V32H is a Class A tube amp head that features internal footswitchable spring reverb and a boost function. The V32H amplifier head packs a whole lot of vintage tube sound into its compact cabinet--giving you an amp that's portable and easy to operate, yet still produces incredible sounds! Hidden underneath the Palomino amp head's cabinet is a pair of heavy-duty slide-out mounting brackets that can be used to "piggyback" the amplifier onto the top of the Palomino V212 Guitar Speaker Enclosure. To complement its unique sound, the Palomino V32H also shakes off the standard black for a striking cream Tolex covering with gold trim.

I started with the 5 watt Palomino combo. Aggressively loud, it sounded like a little Fender tweed. I was missing the closed-back cabinet sound so I bought the "Palomino V32H 30W Amp Head".It was a tough choice because none of the online sites have any reviews for this head yet. I guess I am the first.I got a few nice compliments from the band on the looks of the unit. It has a very classy retro thing going on. The gold hardware is pretty, but the dials are hard to read where each is set to.I put the 8-ohm head unit on top of a closed 1x12 8 ohm speaker cab that I have and it sounds pretty great. I would like to try it on a few 16 ohm 4x12's but have not had a chance yet. This is the tone I was looking for - very "Allman Bros at Fillmore" -sounding.The reverb sounded like total crap when I first started using it. It did nothing but hum. I found that one of the cables was not plugged all the way into the reverb tank in the back of the unit. After pushing it all the way in (RCA jacks???) the reverb is just fine.IMPORTANT: Several online sellers list this as a single channel amp with a footswitch that controls reverb and Boost. The model I picked up is actually a TWO channel amp (Clean & Overdrive) with a boost function that works for both channels. It's really like having access to four different sound configurations. The two-button footswitch switches between clean & overdrive and turns on/off the boost. The specs say the amp contains 3 12AX7A preamp tubes and 4 EL-84 power tubes. I tried to see what kind of tubes are in there, but it's very difficult to see past the little metal cage protecting the tubes. They look like they may be Sovteks. All in all, the Palomino V32H a great-sounding amp with great-sounding channels, and the price puts it into the "great value" category. Add a Tube Screamer in front to get a little bit of sing from it. If you are looking for a loud, clear, sweet-sounding amp, this is a good choice.
I was on the market for a head that could produce a warm, clean, tube tone that would pair up nicely with my Soldano Avenger. I was reluctant to try this amp for two reasons. 1, because of the watt rating. And 2, it?s a crate and matching up a Soldano with a crate is like racing a Hyundai against a Ferrari. I gave it a try anyways. I'm glad I did. This head has an amazing clean tone. The reverb is really good on it as well. The overdrive is nice but I prefer the Soldano to take care of that job. Another thing is that is really loud for a 30 watt head. Its class A so that may have something to do with it. It?s not as loud as my Soldano, but then again, who wants their clean tone to be louder than their overdrive tone? Overall it?s a great amp.
This is truly a great amp. It is extremely versitile. I now play in an Indie/Ambient/Experimental band and this amp with a delay pedal and a phaser is a fantastic combo. I highly recommend it.
I just received my Palomino V32H and was blown away by the sound coming out of it. I hooked it up to a small cab 10" Redcoat, and the clean channel was nice and crisp. The overdrive was mellow, the reverb is a bit weak, but I can always change out the reverb tank. I tried some effects pedals and it sounded great. I'm lovin' this amp.
I saw this amp a good while back in a music store and was amazed! Finally got a great deal and purchased it along with the matching V212 cab. The head is very reminesent of my old cream '63 Fender Bassman head! But with more Features & looks a lot better. This will even mount to the cab in the same way, atop with two large knurl bolts! The sound is to die for, espicially at this price!! When everyone is buying 5 watt class A amps and they are stripped down I don't know! They haven't heard or seen this 30 watt class A, with two channels, reverb, a footswitch (channel & Boost)& fit & finish that kills! My only gripe at all is that on mine the reverb is a little week but usable or should say you can actually turn the knob up like the rest. The only other complaint , they only put One speaker output (8 ohms)jack on back! But with my matching cab, it has a parellel jack & with this being a class A tube amp, I'm sure it will handle a 4 ohm load! The manual doesn't go into that detail! I might contact Crate! However, It sounds more than ample with the one 212 cab (8ohms) though! I'm just saying, at this price, U can't beat this head anywhere! It sounds as geourgous as it looks! A poor mans Boutiqe amp! A Keeper Classic! Buy It !
