Tough construction, and great sound for tone-hungry cats.

The Danelectro Cool Cat CF-2 Fuzz brings plenty of touch sensitive fuzzy goodness to your guitar, with loads of sustain, a crunchy top, and a full bottom end. This Cool Cat pedal adds two "Under the Hood" features: an Input Sensitivity control and a 3-position dual in-line package (DIP) switch that lets you add different combinations of LEDs for greater dynamic and tonal control.

Controls
FUZZ: Controls the amount of fuzz from minimum (fully counterclockwise) to maximum (fully clockwise). Higher settings increase fuzz distortion and volume as well as thickening the tone. This control is modified by the "Under the Hood" Input Sensitivity control.

TREBLE / BASS: Adjusts the frequency extremes of the fuzz sound. The two controls are stacked; the inner control is for Treble, the outer for Bass. At their minimum (fully counterclockwise) setting, the selected range will be cut. At their maximum (fully clockwise), the selected range will be boosted.

VOLUME: Controls the overall volume of the Cool Cat fuzz pedal when the fuzz is activated, from minimum (fully counter-clockwise) to maximum (fully clockwise). The Volume control has plenty of range to allow even low Fuzz settings. This control is modified by the "Under the Hood" Input Sensitivity control.

BYPASS: The true bypass footswitch engages and disengages the Danelectro fuzz pedal.

This guitar effect pedal has lots of volume, so start with your amp and the Volume control turned down.

  • Controls: Volume, Tone, and Gain

Comments about Danelectro Cool Cat Series CF-2 Cat Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've been really impressed with the Cool Cat series of pedals. "Bang for the buck" is such an over-used phrase, but I think it really applies here. Like the Cool Cat Vibe and Transparent OD pedals, the C.C. Fuzz really smokes! Most fuzz pedals I've owned or tried only sound good with the fuzz at or near the max setting. Also, many don't have tone controls and, depending on how they are voiced, either sound too shrill and raspy or dull and muddy. This pedal lets you really fine tune your tone and sounds great even with the fuzz knob well before 12 O'clock. There is plenty of output here too-a useful departure from fuzzes (e.g.: my vintage Fuzz Face) where you have to max out the volume to achieve unity gain. Well done Dano!

        Very Versatile Fuzz Pedal

Comments about Danelectro Cool Cat Series CF-2 Cat Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

I definitely recommend this pedal. It's chock-full of features to help you find the perfect tone, yet very simple to use. I'd like a little more grit and fuzz, but it's nothing powerboost or overdrive can't fix. Buy it and play with it; you won't regret it.
Volume knob, Fuzz knob, Treble/Bass stacked knobs, 3 DIP switches, and an Input Sensitivity Control. You really can't ask for more from a $60 pedal. True bypass and a metal housing complete the package. I also found that the instructions were very helpful when I first hooked this pedal up.
So far, the build quality is excellent. The knobs are smooth, the footswitch is what you'd expect with any other pedal. The only area where you may run into some frustration (not a lot) is the stacked tone knob. Sometimes when you adjust the treble knob, the bass knob will want to follow, but it's very easy to get around.
I had been looking for a fuzz pedal for a couple of weeks, and after looking around long enough, I came upon this. Pedals near this price or higher didn't have half of the features this pedal has. But then again, do you really need a bunch of different ways of shaping your tone if you just a need straight old fuzz? Probably not. But if this is your first fuzz pedal, then it's good to have all of these different knobs so you can find wat you like.

To put it bluntly: a lot of features for $60, and great if you like a versatile tone.

        The Holy Grail !!

        By Insect Surfer Dave

        from Los Angeles

Comments about Danelectro Cool Cat Series CF-2 Cat Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've played all kinds of fuzz pedsls and I can't believe how great sounding and inexpensive this puppy is. I play in a psychedelic surf band ("Insect Surfers")and this pedal will give you that true 60s tone we all crave. It doesn't quite have that Mosrite Fuzzrite 'breaking up' fade at the end of the signal but you can still totally get that Davie Allan and the Arrows vibe. I just used this pedal in a set of Ennio Morricone spaghetti western tunes and it was magnificent. Never before have I played a pedal where other guitarists run up to me and ask '"what fuzz pedal is that?!'- this has happened more than a few times! Unlike the past series of inexpensive Dano pedals(loved the Tuna Melt tremelo!)this is actually housed in a tough metal casing. The blue LED light makes it easy to see when it's turned on. Like any other fuzz pedal, you have to test/set the volume setting to match your other pedal volumes. And I still can't believe how inexpensive it is !!! THIS IS IT !!!! The Holy Grail....!

        Looked good, didn't last.

Comments about Danelectro Cool Cat Series CF-2 Cat Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

The pedal looked good, and has a lot of cool features. Great price compared to other pedals. Got it, played with it for a few days. Plugged it in after maybe a week, and it didn't work. Opened up the back to check the battery, and it was smoking and smelled like burnt plastic. Changed the battery and it still doesn't work. I found a Behringer fuzz pedal at pawn shop for $20, and it's already lasted longer, and works better.

Cold Kitty Fuzz is better'n a Big Muff

        By FrostBottomBoys

        from Knoxville, TN

Comments about Danelectro Cool Cat Series CF-2 Cat Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

I'm on a pedal hunt for a variety of flavors of OD / Distortion. I A/B'ed this pedal next to a Big Muff Pi w/ Tone Wicker. I plugged 'em into a solid state 15W Crate amp (with an upgraded Jensen Mod 8-20 speaker - it's a bit heavy on the high-mids) driving an 8" speaker, and also an early 90's Peavey Classic 50 2x12 (everything stock on this amp). I used different axes to test - a Ibanez Micro with dual humbuckers (bright HBs), a crazy 4-string electric uke with a single warm HB, and my modded out early 70's Guild strat knockoff with a set of Emer/Slvr/Purple Lace Sensors (a rather bright set, partially due to the electronics in the Guild).I also compared the two pedals through my Ampeg B100-R Rocket Bass amp using my Ibanez Micro P/J bass with both the stock pickups AND a set of Lace Aluma's.To my surprise I LIKED THE COOL CAT FUZZ better IN EVERY SINGLE COMBINATION. I prefer a brighter sound in general, and a tight bass. The Big Muff was looser in the bass end of the spectrum than the Cool Cat and lacked the clarity in the highs that I prefer. The Big Muff was a bit 'creamier' though, I must admit - the compression was silkier.Mind you, with all the switches on this Big Muff, you can certainly sculpt the sound MORE with it. However, I found that the only way I could get it to sound quite like I wished I also had to deal with high freq hiss. The Cool Cat came w/o hiss.I'm sure it's a matter of taste - the two pedals do sound distinctly different - but I just found the Big Muff box a bit lacking. Odd, I know, since it's a classic with plenty of upgrades, but...I've been quite happy with all six of the Cool Cat pedals I own. The Drive sounds as good as the Vox Cool Tron Over the Top pedal, the Transparent OD is my fav 'warm mids' tube-style OD pedal. Their chorus kicked my DOD's butt out the door.I know. I was pretty surprised too. Happily so.

Awesome - Fuzzy and Wild Finally

        By Mr Picky

        from Missouri

Comments about Danelectro Cool Cat Series CF-2 Cat Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have yet to find anything that comes close to the Mosrite circuit that The Ventures used back in the 60's. And I've been looking for that Fuzz. Fuzzfaces don't have it, Muff's don't have it...even though Muffs are descendants of that Mosrite circuit. This Pedal has it! Gain down...Fuzz knob up and tweak the inner controls to match your Pups and you can get your guitar to fuzz out in vintage early 60's glory. It will also do newer (slighter) fuzz of course. Awesome pedal...and it's solid metal...you can run over it with a truck. If you want Fuzz...you got it.
