I never liked Dano pedals because of the plastic cheap look and the ones I tried didn't soud great. Not the Cool Cat series! Sturdy, metal box and foremost great tone. I have my CM-2 over a year and I can't say it let me down. I played some gigs with it, I'm recording with it and it always sound great. In the 15 years that I'm playing electric guitar, I tried lot of pedals. There are so many over rates pedals in my opinion, only because something has a famous name and it cost a lot of money doesn't mean it will be a great product. I would say it has too much of distortion so don't worry, you can play everything including death metal with this box. The only thing I would change is the placement of input and output, but that is what makes them look different I guess. Buy it!
Just Got It!! Recently joined a band that plays metal and was looking for and actual Stomp box Metal Pedal within a tight budget. I knew that Danelectro had a selection of pedals that were always affordable, but I never tried a cool cat before. I received this today in the mail and couldnt believe the quality for the price... its excellent!! I was looking at this thing all over cause I couldnt believe I paid $29 for it. So I plugged it in and its exactly what I was looking for. Nice Heavy Distortion thats great for what we play. Turn the Dist knob all the way down and you get a nice breakup not heavy at all. Very Versatile. I also own the Tunamelt Tremelo by danelectro. Quality on that is ok. its cheaply made (all plastic). But the Danelectro Cool Cat series has got me sold. My next pedal is gonna be the Cool Cat Chorus. Get this you will not regret it, i mean how can you regret it? Its only $29
I got this pedal for christmas and I was worried it wouldn't be powerful enough for Torche or Floor. Turns out that it's TOO powerful.PROS-Value, range of power from a nice light crunch to a destroyed, nasty, rude, searing distortion all the way up. The casing is very strong.CONS-Controls, mostly. The "switch" knob is really odd. Probably too noisy without a noisegate behind it and probably one in front of it. I use a gate behind it and it still drives the white noise coming out of that to a WHRRRRRRRRRRRRRR but those are my only gripes.
I've been playing for 25 years. Still gig regularly. recently, with this economy, I find myself budget shopping more and more.I've tried almost every brand of pedal at some time or another.I compare most all pedals to BOSS, as I primarily use Boss pedals. This thing is really a great deal. You can get a good vintage '80's hair metal sound(Ratt,Poison, Dokken) from this thing with the knobs cranked about 1/2 way,...or a really good modern distortion(Godsmack,Mudvein,Creed) just about anything you want. I run it thru my high gain channel of a fender frontman 2x12. I leave it on and use my channel switch to go clean-dirty. The knob placement is a lil funky, hard to adjust quickly,...but this pedal is built like a tank,....doesn't muddy up your distortion,....and lets chords still shine thru with heavy distortion. I don't reccommend it for Southern Rock, light rock,..(Skynard,...etc) a lil to heavy....but for most purposes, you can't go wrong for the 30 bucks. With the gain all the way up,..it's a little noisy,...but I doubt you'd ever need it that cranked anyway. somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 crancked,....and scoop the mids as you like,..and it's as good as ANY other pedal I've ever used,..including Boss power stack,...boss mt-1,....ds-1,...this will do it as well or better than any of those.
when i was looking for a distortion peadal i was afraid that it wouldn't have enough distortion. well this pedal has much more then i needed it goes from classic rock to some crazy powerful distortion not even the heaviest death metal band would use. crank distortion about 3 quarters of the way and your good for any hardcore music
I Love Danelectro products, I have the Orange Fuzz,Pepperoni Phaser, and today I got the Metal 2. It dosn't have an EQ per-say But it does have a three position knob that leaves the Mids: not scooped, somewhat scooped, and all scooped. They all three sound different, I prefer the "Off" position giving me some Mids. This Pedal sounds perfect for me. Great harmonics, sustain, etc..I use an Evolution Bridge pickup and the sound I getis incredible. All the reviews are correct, Tough as a tank and sounds A+. If you want Rock or Metal, this is the real deal!!
This pedal can give you some great metal sounds. I am really impressed with the sounds that can be produced by it. For the cost, it's great.
This thing has amazing tone and great sound. I wasn't expecting it to be so good. I've heard other distrtion pedals that were far inferior to this one. Highly recommend especially at the price.
this pedal is the "real" deal, i got it based on the other reviews, and they we right, this pedal KICKS anybody ears... get it!!! you wont be disappointed.
I just bought this when I was in Texas about a week ago. I wanted to my amp to sound a little bit heavier. So I wanted to buy the Metal Zone Pedal, But I didn't have the money. So I gavethis pedal a shot... It's really cheap! And it really give's an awesome metal sound!! So please, when you don't have the money give Danelectro a chance.
