This pedal has been on my board for many years now.

I can't say anything bad about it - I keep trying to replace it but there is very little that sounds better.

It'll get short slap back delays all the way up to Pink Floyd "Run" style delay - and it sound AWESOME!

I am building another pedal board and this pedal made it again - it sounds so good I can't go without it. It has become part of my sound.

FYI - if you can't get a good sound out of this pedal you are doing something wrong - this is an easy pedal with only three knobs - an IN and an OUT - and power - how can it be hard?

I've been playing electric guitar 48 years. I have nice professional delays on my pedalboard but wanted a knock around delay I could sit on an amp without hooking up a pedalboard--since a delay and a good tube amp are my main sound. All I was wanting was a slap back delay that I found with the repeat set to lowest setting (1 repeat), time set=10:00 and Delay=2:00 perfect for my delay needs. As far as the sound the pedal seems to add a bit of treble to the signal--so in my opinion the pedal does color the signal in that way a bit. It does sound kind of digital or a little sterile. All and all I can live with that for my purposes--it sounds overall pretty good to me. I hate a dry amp and this provides the extra bounce I need.

The disappointment to me was when I hooked it up to my power supplys and got a loud humm. I get my power supplys from flea markets like for a dollar or 50 cents, rewire it for the negative center pin and positive outer and make sure I match the voltages and mA for each application. This has worked well with every pedal I've got except this one. I had to order the Dano DA-1 power supply because delays eat up batteries like crazy and batteries are very expensive these days. The DA-1 claims to be "hum free" so I haven't got it yet--so I hope it delivers hum free service. If I knew I was going to have to purchase a special power supply, I probably would have bought another pedal and spent the extra money on a higher end pedal. Since I discovered my mistake after the fact, I will live with it and mark it off as experiance.
With Delay, Time and repeat settings, 9V adapter jack, on/off light and switch you got all the features of just about every delay. The controls are responsive to provide just what it says in the 600 ms range.
Lets be honest, you can't provide a quality product for a very budget price. This is a platic housing and who knows how delicate the inputs, controls and switch is. Time will tell. I plan to handle this very delicatly and hope I get many years of use out of it. Last cheap Arion Delay I bought lasted about 3 years. I hope this one does a lot better.
I chose this delay because I was looking for the most features for the least bucks. After very much research on the net I decided on this one. After using it I can say it pretty much delivers what it says. There were a few suprises listed in the overall rating below.

Comments about Danelectro D-8 FAB Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This 600ms delay is a dream came true for me;When I first started playing guitar I wanted a delay pedal but couldnt really afford one being everything decent was hiiigh hiiigghhh in price. Any of the cheaper delays sounded real bad. NOW Danelectro comes out with a 600ms delay pedal for 25 bucks? So yeah its 600ms (which can make tasty sounding lead style delays)and yeah its plastic housed but THE sound is there. The delays are not distored or pitched up or down, no noise when clicking on and off, controls are simple and to the point and has a small foot print for your pedal board. Cant ask for more can ya? I actually replaced my dd3 with this pedal and thinking about getting another to set as a slapback. Either way.. BUY IT!

I picked this up because of the price and because I wanted a delay/echo type pedal but wasn't willing to pay $100 just to see if I want it to be a part of my guitar sound or if I need a hardware unit in the studio. This pedal has met or exceeded all my expectations. You can use it on pretty much anything. It's a good basic delay that does what you'd want from a simple inexpensive unit.

Comments about Danelectro D-8 FAB Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was iffy about buying it, but compared to everything else, the price made it easy. I watched review/demo videos online, but you'll never really know how it sounds until you try it on your own gear. I've had a Boss dd-6 delay pedal before, and this does what it does, but with a more limited range. You really can't go wrong with it...I havent had it long, so I couldn't tell you how the plastic casing has held up, but it seems solid despite that. I have it running through my twin reverb, has a nice analog/retro sound. Fairies Wear Boots sounds awesome with it.

Comments about Danelectro D-8 FAB Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I haven't had this pedal for very long, but it does what it says and it does it well. Of course it's not built to last forever, and for this price I wouldn't expect it to. I don't know how it would hold up gigging every weekend, but if you're doing that then you should be able to afford a nicer pedal. That being said, it's a nice little delay pedal for super cheap and you're probably not going to find anything this good at this price.
What do you want in a delay? It's got Delay, Time, and Repeat controls. Sounds about right, yes?
It's plastic, so don't jump up and down on it. You're getting what you pay for.
For the price, there's really no reason not to at least try it out. It's a great pedal for the price.

Comments about Danelectro D-8 FAB Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Bought this a couple of weeks ago from another site cause it wasn't on here yet. From subtle reverb effects to sweet medium length delays, it's got you covered. Sounds like you're playing in a cathedral. The box says "thick and rich" and it delivers! I just wish it could self-oscillate, and the way the knobs are mounted makes it hard to see your settings, but that's ok. It plays well with other pedals (od, fuzz, wah), my octave multiplexer sounds great through it. Tried it with single coils and humbuckers and no issues there. Don't care if it's made of plastic, I'd gladly buy another if it broke, but it seems pretty solid... definitely 2 thumbs up. I also just ordered the fab chorus and flanger based on my experience with this pedal. so there, just buy it.

Comments about Danelectro D-8 FAB Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Just a great value for a cool pedal! You might as well check it out!
Pretty straight forward delay pedal - Time, Repeat and Delay knobs. Really easy to use and dial in different delay sounds. I was fearing the delay effect would be very subtle... it's terrific! You can get some great delay sounds with this little guy!
I've heard a lot of negative feedback about Danelectro products, however this pedal seems pretty solid despite the plastic casing. Has a very cool look to it and fits nicely onto my pedal board. I also compared it to my Visual Sound Axle Grease - there's no change in volume/coloration of tone with the FAB. I noticed a volume increase with the Visual Sound. Definitely will have to gig with this more to really see how it holds up.
Find another delay pedal for this price.. seriously, go ahead.

Comments about Danelectro D-8 FAB Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

It's true, you could spend more on a pedal made with a metal shell, and one that has more features..but for the amount spent on this Danelectro pedal, and the enjoyment you'll have it is well worth it.
Easy to use time, repeat and delay knobs; when the time knob is set all the way at it's slowest..it's the perfect tempo for soaring lead-work! Faster, and you get slap-back,all the way to near doubling effect. The range of each control is dynamic, and very useful. No alteration of signal going thru the pedal. Just great tone, and if anything balances your original signal nicely, with or without using other pedals simultaneously. I only gave the features a rating of "8",because some people might prefer to have stereo capability;perhaps a wider range of delay speed(time),and possibly different modes of delay.
As for quality..well,it is manufactured in a plastic shell, although still very sturdy. I use a power supply, but the battery compartment and connection works and is also adequate.
Cannot beat the price, for the value with this pedal.

Comments about Danelectro D-8 FAB Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

On the positive side, this pedal does have a long 600 ms delay, is low-noise with a decent power supply, is about the most inexpensive delay pedal available, and does not color your tone when off. Now for the negatives… The biggest one: it has very poor sound. Tested side by side with 2 other budget delays (albeit still costing more than 2x what the FAB costs) and my studio amp's on-board delay effects, the inferiority of the FAB was obvious. The delay range is long, but the sample window is very short and the pedal only repeats about the last 100ms of the sample. Used with a distorted input signal, it wipes out half the gain on any repeats. Another big minus is the position of the knobs (a problem on all these FAB pedals) meaning you have to pick the thing up to see or adjust the knob settings. Like all delays, it's also a major battery hog, with max 2 hours of use per battery. I also don't like this style of non-tactile switch, you have to look down at it to tell if you turned it on or off. It's so inexpensive there's no point returning it; when I find a better replacement I will probably donate this to the local kids rock camp.

Comments about Danelectro D-8 FAB Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was hesitant to buy this because the price was so low, but it's a great little pedal! Much more sturdy than it looks in the picture. Should hold up fine for home use and even more if handled with even the slightest amount of care. (i.e. not dropped on concrete from 10 feet up). Good sound. This was my first of the cheap "Fab" series but I like it so much I've got the D-2 overdrive ordered now.

p.s. Works well with Dunlop ECB-003 AC adapter. (not included)

This is a nice basic delay pedal that works well. Simple, easy to use and adjust and you cant beat the price. Here's the interesting thing...My fancy (and expensive) rackmount Yamaha digital delay that I use for vocals decided to stop working in the middle of a gig. So I hooked this pedal up. It worked so well that I just ordered another one. The audience doesn't care about fancy as long as the sound is good. I highly recommend this.

Comments about Danelectro D-8 FAB Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Danelectro D-8 FAB Delay is fine for what it is: a cheap delay pedal in a plastic housing. It isn't an Echorec, or even a Carbon Copy, and you shouldn't expect that for what you spend. Rather, what you should expect is given to you in spades by this insanely cheap little delay pedal: a nice little slapback echo for retro stylings. Will this replace any other delay pedals? Well, no. It's OK, but I'd never use it for anything other than a leave-it-on slapback sound. Luckily, what I'm doing right now requires that. I dial in the delay time to around 80 or 100 ms, set the repeats to 1.5 or 2, and the delay to somewhere near the top of its range. There, it gives the slapback I want, and doesn't color my sound too much.

Yeah, it's digital, but it sounds OK for a cheap digital delay. I didn't expect very much and it far exceeded my expectations. It will never sound like a tape echo, or even a mid-priced analog delay, but the D-8 has a nice warm sound, and only adds a bit of color to your tone. It does what it does well. Just don't expect it to be your main delay pedal. Definitely a good choice if you already have a delay pedal that you plan to use as your "real" delay. Set this one permanently as your slapback, towards the end of your signal chain (but before your "real" delay) and have at it.

I like it for what it is and what it does. It gave me one of the things I want out of my rig for what I paid. How much more can you ask? It showed up in pefect working condition. I have no idea how it does with batteries, since I never use them. I can't imagine anyone getting uptight about how many batteries one of these goes through when the danged thing was so cheap, and you can easily use a 9-volt adapter.

I'll be gigging with it, and expect no problems, based on what I've seen. It seems sturdy, as plastic pedals go. I tend not to throw all my weight on pedals while wearing iron boots, so I have a hard time understanding how anyone breaks a pedal that way, to be honest. I'll update this review if anything funky happens at a gig.

I use it as a delay for my practice PA.... our guitarist has one for his gig... just good clean delay with no frills and no pain to the wallet

Comments about Danelectro D-8 FAB Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

In short, if you want to get a good digital delay pedal without investing a whole lot, just buy it. No it's not a TC Nova Delay, but it's also not 350 dollars. For the money you can't beat it and I would definitely buy another one if it was lost/stolen.
You've got everything you need. 3 knobs to control your repeats, time, and delay strength. You don't need anything more than that and at this price you shouldn't expect more.
Again, for the price you get what you pay for. I have used this pedal everyday for the past 3 months and I have yet to have a problem with it. Yes it's made out of plastic, but it stands up to my abuse. I wouldn't feel to comfortable about touring with it, but it will hold up to normal, everyday playing and usage.
It's a great overall delay for 25 bucks. You can't beat it.
