I had to write this review as I've made a recent discovery. I bought this pedal about two years to give me some old style tremolo like "Suzie Q" and "Gimme Shelter". It did what I wanted. I have a late seventies Vibro Champ and it is similar. However, I got a new tube amp two months ago and had also bulit a new pedal board and rearranged the pedals. I was getting a noticeable noise just by turning on the amp which was making the drive channel disenchanting. I removed the tremolo pedal and noise gone. I still wanted a tremolo pedal and was looking online at different pedals, reading reviews, dreading maybe paying a lot more than I wanted. I finally came upon a review for a tremolo pedal where the owner said place the tremolo before your distortion /overdrive to eliminate noise. I put the Tuna melt third after my Boss tuner and my Cry Baby and problem solved. So now I'm going tuner, Cry Baby, Tuna Melt,Barber overdrive, chorus, MXR analog delay, amp and no problems. No noise. I still get a very slight volume increase when the pedal is engaged but it is something I can easily adjust with my guitar volume. So, save yourself a lot of money and go with this ,just watch where you place it in your chain

I bought this pedal new for about 35.00 bucks and now wished I'd paid a little more and gotten something a little more substantial. It's plastic canary yellow housing is pretty wimpy, kinda cool looking. The insides arn't much better as the inlet jack has broken with minimal use. As some of the other reviews have stated there is a slight cut in volume which needs to be accounted for when switched on. Another pain in the butt feature to the Danelectro mini pedals the whole base has to come off to get a 9V battery in. On the plus side you can get some decent trem sounds if you mess with it awhile. The trem on my multi-effects pedal does sound better though.

Comments about Danelectro DJ-5 Tuna Melt Tremolo Pedal:
I used one of these for years and then got on a true-bypass kick. While true-bypass does sound awesome, I wish I had kept this pedal just for when I only play through my amp and don't bring my pedalboard. This little thing is a great tremolo pedal for the price. Good 50's and 60's vibe. I highly recommend it, I'm going in to see if I can work a trade for some amps today and I'm going to make sure that one of these is part of the deal. This is a great pedal for the price.
Comments about Danelectro DJ-5 Tuna Melt Tremolo Pedal:
OK, I've owned this bad boy for over 10 years. NO issues. Definitely one of my "go to" peddles. BUT, it's a trem. Set it and forget it. Nothin fancy. I don't get the complaints here. I don't jump up and down on my peddles with cowboy boots on, and this thing has been great!!! It does exactly what a trem does, no more, no less. Fogerty, Gilmore, Tommy James, Keith Richards - all those tones come out of this cheap little box. Batteries seem to last forever (DON'T leave cords plugged in when not in use, will drain battery) So I figure this thing has cost me about a $1.50 a YEAR since I have had it and it still plays like out of the box. Try this one first!!!

I got this pedal b/c I wanted a tremolo but didn't want to shell out an awful lot for one. It's perfect for what I use it for! The only complaints I have are that it's made of plastic and it does noticeably affect my signal, but not drastically. I would def. recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap but decent tremolo!
Comments about Danelectro DJ-5 Tuna Melt Tremolo Pedal:
I have been using this pedal for about three years now for gigs/practice/recording. I think its pretty freaking good! My only beef is the plastic control knobs/plastic housing. The danoelectro case is a MUST if you use several of these pedals (like myself). I have broken several control knobs over the years. The sound quaility is good. Pretty adjustable. Get it!
Comments about Danelectro DJ-5 Tuna Melt Tremolo Pedal:
I've had this little guy, tona melt, since the late 90s. I love it. I especially like the "hard" setting. Mine has a switch in the middle, not a knob. It sounds great--it will always have a place on my pedal board, no matter how fancy (read: expensive) the stuff around it gets.
Comments about Danelectro DJ-5 Tuna Melt Tremolo Pedal:
Bought it used from a former bandmate who had no idea how to operate *anything.* At any rate, it's a decent tremolo unit. I don't care for the "Hard" setting, but the "Soft" setting actually sounds pretty good. It does give a bit of volume boost when engaged. This was annoying at first, but I've gotten used to it over the years. Been using it since 2001 with no problems. It has survived countless rehearsals and 100's of gigs. Sometimes you come out pretty good for a few bucks.
Comments about Danelectro DJ-5 Tuna Melt Tremolo Pedal:
Hey, its not built like a tank like a boss, but with a savings of say.. 60 bucks? Not tap tempo, but get over it. I've played several different pedals, and this is my fav. If it broke, I would buy another. There is a slight volume drop, but the features overcome this. You have two total different settings: 1) sine wave, 2) square wave. Get it! I use it 2 times a week, for a total of 8 hours worth of shows. Hasn't failed me since 1999.
