I submitted a review earlier, but I didn't really say what I wanted - so here goes. I bought this because of the cost - period - I already had the Milkshake chorus pedal (which won me over pretty quick) so I felt this would be worth a shot. I am impressed. As I mentioned, I'm not too crazy about the plastic case or the tiny knobs, but you buy a pedal for the sound and this one sounds pretty darn good. I use it with my bass and I have to say - if you need a flanger for your bass - THIS IS THE ONE TO GET. I play every thing from some modern alternative to classic hair band metal and it fits right in. I found that running all three knobs around the 25% mark doesn't give much of the sweeping effect but rather adds a touch of mid-range punch that makes the bass very articulate. Additionally, when I chain this with the Milkshake chorus, the stacked tone works quite well. I'm actually considering buying a second flanger so I can have more than 1 setting at the touch of a button. Bottom line - I LOVE THIS PEDAL.

Please, dont see the price on this thing and think "wow what a great deal!" I personally think this is nowhere worth SELLING at all. It is made of cheap plastic, and the knobs are incredibly small. In fact, one of my knobs broke off, so i had to use a screwdriver to change the settings. the footswitch is so darned small that i've missed it many times when playing live, which always turns out to be embarassing. also, with me AND 3 of my mates, the thing bugged out within 3 weeks or less of use. If you've got the money to spare, buying these is like gambling. Not all of them turn out great, but every once in a while you'll get lucky and get one with a decent sound. If you're a serious musician, save up for a serious flanger pedal.

Have had one of these guys for a long time on my bass pedal board

By NFV

Comments about Danelectro DJ-8 Hash Browns Flanger Pedal:

I use this more than anything for a level boost on a bass guitar. I keep all the knobs at their minimum. It gives a very subtle flange sound and about a 3dB boost when engaged. It just works for the kind of playing I do.
It's a pretty simple pedal: speed, regeneration, width controls. In what I thought was going to be a very short lived plastic housing.
I've had this pedal since they first came out, maybe, uh, 10 years ago? Have always used it with a 9v adapter coming off a voodoo labs pedal power 2.

It's never given me any problems. The screws mounting the baseplate to the rest of the housing are a titch loose, but not anything difficult to tighten.
Awesome.

Glad I bought it

Comments about Danelectro DJ-8 Hash Browns Flanger Pedal:

I have never bought a pedal before, or even used a flanger before I bought this, but surprisingly it wasn't a bad idea. It sounds real nice and gives me the sound I want. It does give the tone of my guitar a bit more presence, but I kinda like that. Whenever I play my bass anymore, I plug it through the HashBrowns but I turn all the knobs down and just use it for the tone. Makes my bass amp sound not so horrible. I actually bougt this for when I play Christian music infront of my school just to make things different, and I think my school will appreciate it when I do. I hope to buy more from Danelectro soon.

For Flange on a Bass Look No Further!

By sorteal

Comments about Danelectro DJ-8 Hash Browns Flanger Pedal:

I love using Flange with a Bass rig. I started out using the Boss Flange pedal but it was so muddy and full of static that I sold the pedal. I bought this pedal not expecting much, but when I played through it on my Ibanez I was blown away!! This is one of the few Flange pedals that will really work well on a Bass guitar rig!! Buy this now if you're looking for a flange pedal to compliment your Bass setup.

What a great buy!!!

By Lil Ang

Comments about Danelectro DJ-8 Hash Browns Flanger Pedal:

I purchased this earlier this afternoon at a local music shop. I tested it at the store through a line 6 spider I amp. The flange effect that comes out of this "Hash Browns" pedal is incredible, to say the least. It gives me all of the flanging effects that i've been searching for, from "Unchained" by Van Halen to the flanged opening to "Cowboys from Hell." I would highly recommend this flanger to any player, beginning or experienced, who wants a high quality flanger without breaking the bank. Very good buy!!

Excellant Cheap Flanger!!!!

By Tremaster

from San Fransisco,CA

Comments about Danelectro DJ-8 Hash Browns Flanger Pedal:

I got the Dan Electro DJ-8 Hash Browns flanger thinking that I would hardly ever use it, but that proved to be wrong very soon. This Flanger is made cheaply, so its not really a stomp box but for the price what do you expect? It is very easy to use and I end up using it much more than I thought I would when I first got it. The sound is excellant for the price. Overall, I would recomend this flanger to anybody who wants a flanger that doesn't cost too much, but if you are looking for a stomp box, I would look elsewhere.

Good sound, cheap pedal

By Proshow1

from PA.

Comments about Danelectro DJ-8 Hash Browns Flanger Pedal:

I chose this flange pedal obviously for the price, but I also chose it for it's almost "vintage" sound. The hashbrowns has a nice sound to i really, however more suttle than other better pedals. The sweeping flange "whine" is a little more present w/ this pedal esp. under heavey dist. load. The pedal is noise wise quite good. Now the cons: It is a cheaply constructed plastic pedal. The stomp switch does not even click. (I woul'nt recomend stomping this pedal.) I'm glad I bought the extended warenty. I wish the pedal had a little more depth w/o as much whine, but not bad esp. for the price

Flanger Pedal

By OutOfStep97

Comments about Danelectro DJ-8 Hash Browns Flanger Pedal:

This pedal was decent for the money until it broke about two weeks after purchase. The little plastic knobs fell off all the time also. It's a $30 pedal, what do you expect? Though it did sound decent.

Comments about Danelectro DJ-8 Hash Browns Flanger Pedal:

This a great little pedal. Value is unmatchable. Very tunable, good sound quality. I don't like the plastic knobs. The danelectro case is a must with all DJ pedals.
