I got this pedal free when I ordered a Daddy-O overdrive. At first I didn't like it at all so it wound up collecting dust. It changed my tone and wasn't anything that I was impressed with. One day I hooked it up and started tweeking with it and I discovered that I could get a semi-quasi, very light phaser sound out of it. COOL!! I set the intensity about 7 o'clock and the speed between 11 and 12 o'clock. I keep it on all the time. It does color my sound, but I adjusted the EQ on my amp to compensate for that. It kind of has that Lynnyrd Skynnyrd sound to me. I run it after my distortion and before my tremolo and delay. All are AC powered. I like it both clean and distorted. Hope this helps. On the other hand, I no longer have the Daddy-O on my board. When I turned it on, I lost all my bottom end.
    Only 2 adjustments.
I've had none of the problems that I read about by other posts as far as popping or frying the pc board.
Great for free. I found a sound that works for me.

I wanted to like this pedal because I like to find a great deal and not pay boutique prices but this pedal was a disappointment. So many people said it was good that I have to ask...What have we come to? Have our senses been so dulled that people think this sounds good? It's noisy, has mid-range nasal boost, and it feels like it will break any second. On the plus, it looks cool. But listen with your ears, not with your eyes or your wallet.

    Happy.

Comments about Danelectro DJ15 Chicken Salad Vibrato Pedal:

Very simple pedal. That's why I bought it. I don't care to be a crazy guitar tone perfectionist without a life. Sometimes perfect tone doesn't have any character. I wanted this pedal because I want a tone that sounds like I could be in a 60's garage band. The pedal sounds and works fine. Is it tone sucking? I don't think so, honestly. But I personally don't care! I'm having a great time with it!

Surprised by such a great effect in a small pedal. Works very good with electric guitar as well as electric acoustic. Very happy with this 'CHICKEN SALAD'. Just the right amount of ingredients!

    Utterly Fantastic Univibe Clone!

    By Jim Clifford

    from Eugene, Oregon

Comments about Danelectro DJ15 Chicken Salad Vibrato Pedal:

It's really amazing what can be gotten these days for so little, and this little gem proves it. I'm sure that some folks would say that it couldn't possibly replicate their favorite (insert brand here) Uni-V clone, but that's obvious - and with all due respect, comparing the sound of this unit to a classic recording is impossible, since as anyone who's ever done any real recording will know, what comes out of an amp in the studio isn't what it ends up sounding like after all the post-production "sweetening". I've been playing for a long time, and used a few different 'Vibe clones both in studio and on stage, including the '90s Dunlop version, and I can tell you - this little baby nails it. Put it before an overdrive box, or through a tube amp turned way up, do a little EQ, and you're there, crossing that bridge of sighs...
Could it use a depth control? Maybe, maybe not.
Plastic - just don't stomp on this stomp box.
    Intense value!

    Serious tone suckage

By who cares what my name is

Comments about Danelectro DJ15 Chicken Salad Vibrato Pedal:

I got this and was disappointed from the get go with the tone. As another reviewer mentioned it has a significant "mid boost", which to my mind is a nice way of saying it's muddy. But I had a good time doing modifying it to increase the intensity. For that reason it's kind of fun. If you don't mind the mud, then it's probably not a bad toy for the money.

    crap...cheap crap

    By bp77

Comments about Danelectro DJ15 Chicken Salad Vibrato Pedal:

The effect is minimal. I had to turn the speed and depth all the way up just to get a noticable effect. Also it created a high pitched whine in my pedal chain. Cheap crap.

    Univibe effect for cheeeeeep.

Comments about Danelectro DJ15 Chicken Salad Vibrato Pedal:

Had this thing since about 2003. Still works fine, if you remember one thing. Use the 9V adapter, on battery the effect dies after a short time. They all do that. There is an internal pot adjustment under cover near the LED. I drilled a small 1/8" hole to adjust the intensity pot without disassembly with a tiny screwdriver. (voids warranty). Gets Sounds really, close to Trower, ala Bridge of Sighs, for hundreds less than a real Vibe. Sound is not phasey., really warbles on the mid to bass side. I got mine new for $18 back then. Worth every penny.

    Affordable and Simple

Comments about Danelectro DJ15 Chicken Salad Vibrato Pedal:

I've had my Danelectro Chicken Salad vibe pedal for about a year. It has an on/off button, and two knobs for depth and speed settings.I use mine via OneSlot (VisualSound) power supply, never by battery. It has standard power (not a reverse power supply like some), so it is easy to get on your board.I use it a few times a month, and have had no problems with it, even though it is in a plastic box.It sounds great, with a bit of mid boost, though it will add some noise to your signal as well. A noise gate is not a bad idea. You might one that is quieter but not at this price. It does all I expected and sounds like I paid a lot more for it.
