I just bought one of these over a week ago after I acquired a vintage, 1988 Fender Studio 85 amp a few weeks ago. I was using a Digitech RP-50 for effects, but I had to trade that as part of the deal in order to get this amp so, I needed something for effects. I used to have one of these over 6 years ago when I was using a 1997 Crate GX-65 and it worked wonders with that amp , so when this came in, I was not let down at all. It now makes my amp sound more fuller and can hang with it's more expensive counterparts IMO.

I was initially satisfied with the FAB Chorus pedal. It is inexpensive enough to justify for occasional use. I would hook it up for one lead section of a tune that our band infrequently plays. I estimate that I got about 5 hopurs total use out of it before it failed. The symptom is that the 9V battery now overheats immediately and is burnt out within 10 minutes.

Comments about Danelectro FAB Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

This isn't really much of a chorus pedal. There are 2 things you can do with this: set all the knobs at max so you can make really strange alien noises (which is the only good thing about this pedal), or you can keep them moderately low so it can add a slight bit of depth, although this makes your changes your tone and makes it really annoying. You should really test this out before you buy it if you won't take my word for it. The only good thing that came out of this is that i found out that the Fab pedals are a bit more durable than they look, which might be useful in case I give a different one a try. Note : definetly get this pedal if you are going to start a band that dresses up as aliens.

Comments about Danelectro FAB Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

In my opinion, nothing to dislike. If you are a professional, you might sink mega dollars in more fancy equipment, but for me, if it is well made, sounds great, and has a great price, there is nothing to complain about.
The case is made of a very durable plastic material, that is thick enough in body to be very sturdy. I almost thought it was made of metal at first. No reason the case should not last for years if taken care of. Has a great sound, and a great value.
This is a very nice pedal , sounds great, and made well.
The quality of this pedal is well worth more than the price. Highly recommended.

Comments about Danelectro FAB Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

How is this pedal selling for so cheap?!

Yes, the pedal is plastic, but it is surprisingly sturdy. I cannot imagine this pedal breaking without seeing serious abuse, like being thrown against a wall repeatedly or smashed with a hammer.

Yes, the pedal will give you a variety of alien abduction and seasick tones if that's your kink, but it has plenty of solid usable tones too. You will have to put down the hash pipe to play with the mix, depth, and speed dials a bit, but all of the dial settings from max to min are usable IF they are balanced against the others correctly. Many subtle and overt shades of chorus can easily be dialed in.

While there are fewer chorus options when compared to the Digitech sea machine, the sound quality on the DanO remains indisputably, remarkably good. Better than some other more expensive chorus pedals, and chorus circuits on amps, that I have played with in the past!

My primary complaint about this pedal is the location of the knobs: located in the rear, making the direction of max to min counter-intuitive, as well as difficult to pinch above the connector cables. Sorry DanO, you lost one whole star for this engineering fail!

I was skeptical at first - how can a choru pedal be this low of a price. However, after reading the reviews I decided to move forward with this purchase. Glad I did - why spend a lot when you can blend the mix speed and depth on this baby and get a wonderful fullness to your sound. It took only a few minutes of tweaking and it sounded great. This is an unbeleivable value!
The only reason I give it a lower number is probably more to do with how I set my pedal board up than the pedal itself - I have it in the second row of a flat board and hae to gingely step over the first row of pedals to access the footswith due to it's sloping design. The design is cool but not s convenient as some other boxes.

Good Pedal

Comments about Danelectro FAB Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

The input/output might be slightly inconviently placed, but I don't worry about it too much. Has good sound, sturdily constructed, the heavy duty rubber backing is nice, so you don't have any sliding.
It's not too fancy, but it does the job.
I havn't had it for terribly long, but everything seems to work perfectly fine. There had been some complaints about constuction, but I think think it's pretty sturdy, I mean, you'd have to really be STOMPING on it do to much damage. Just treat it with some respect and you should be fine. As far as sound quality goes, I havn't had too much experience with pedals, so I can't really say it sound better than this brand or that brand, but it can do everything from a gentle accent of " chorus", to something that sounds like the sound effects of an alien spaceship.
This is one of the cheapest pedals I saw, and I have no complaints.

Sleeper deal

By Michael Gallagher

from Denver, Colorado!

Comments about Danelectro FAB Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

For the price, it's a steal. Spend 15 on this instead of 60 to 85 on the competitors overpriced city pedals (South Park pronunciation). I also am an objective journalist, and don't take money from anybody to push products, so this isn't a Danelectro planted review.
Come to think of it, I'll get around to doing a YouTube of my take on this cheap gem. It's so cheap that the couple of extra dollars for the replacement insurance is worth it. I also will try other Danelectro products.
It does exactly what it is supposed to do, and sounds great. The best way to rate features for me is to also consider how the existing features work. The Depth as a good range, and I use it on various settings, but more on full. The speed control works fine, and you can get a decent rotary sound combined with the depth. (Too much depth at speed and you get the crazy alien stuff, but that's what knobs are for.) The mix control does what it's supposed to. The reason I didn't 9 or 10 it is that a tone control on a chorus is nice, but since it's mono instead of stereo, it doesn't have the sqeamish sound of a stereo chorus (like the Boss I sold after hardly using it), but it does sound GREAT.
The one thing that bugs me is the knob vs jack placement, but for 15 bucks so what. I use straight-end instead of a 90 cable with this pedal.
Inexpensive circuitry that hasn't failed on me yet. My 8 rating is based weighing the product against the price. It obviously is not a T.C., but for the price, you get your money's worth. I've had expensive pedals fail at a cheap internal switch (Boss) more than once. It is a plastic pedal. Check reviews for odd failures like the guy with the battery. I 9v mine and it is doing fine.
Mike Campbell has an inexpensive Danelectro pedal in his chain. I have been playing cheap or sucky pedals since 1969 (in the beginning they all sucked). I am ready to add more of their products as I am good enough to use cheap pedals. I am not a pedal snob, I am anti-pedal snob. (I also use/have used expensive ones. Quality construction in electronics is worth it!)
I have had no blatant signal loss or noise issues, and I am mostly Strat single coils into good amps with bad electrical wiring at some of the old bars I play in.
For the price, you can NOT beat it. If you are a student and want to learn how to use a mono chorus, this is the ticket. My pedal board has a fifteen dollar chorus in it now instead of a hundred and fifty one. If it fails, I will replace it. I am going to get one or two more so I have one at home and one at practice. Etc.

Comments about Danelectro FAB Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I had read all the reviews and was a little nervous about the pedal feeling cheap or breaking easy. I don't know how you would break this unless you are jumping off your amp onto this thing! Really great chorus out of this pedal and for the money you cannot go wrong. I would highly recommend.

Great sound for the money. If you are more particular about Chorus pedals because you are into devices and sounds, get someting else more expensive...you must be independently wealthy. For singer/guitar players who want an adjustable sustained sound this is for you. For soloist who think music is all about "kick out the jams," and not singing a sweet song in beautiful harmony, like us coffee house players, why are you bothering to get a chorus pedal? lol.

Comments about Danelectro FAB Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was looking for an inexpensive chorus to run my acoustic through at church. I've been pulling my Boss Super Chorus out of my electric rig every Sunday and putting a battery in it. After listening to some demos on YouTube I decided to give the Fab Chorus a try and it sounds fabulous. I wouldn't expect a plastic pedal to tolerate much abuse but in this situation it is perfect.

This is just a chorus pedal. It's not the greatest. I wanted a much deeper chorus than this. I figured I can't loose for this cheap. I'll find a use for it. Bass guitar maybe. I'm saving for a better chorus pedal now. Too light for my taste.

I bought this used and used it for awhile, then sold it to try some higher end choruses. Now i'm buying it again after trying Boss, Mind Bender, and delta Labs chorus and having minor issues/dislikes with all of them. This thing just works - no clipping, nice subtle chorus, and the mix knob is perfect for mixing in the right amount of chorus. I'm an experienced musician, and this is a great chorus pedal. The plastic is not cheap feeling either - pretty durable.

I'll keep this short. Bought this pedal on a Friday night before band practice. Plugged it in, and had it set up the way I wanted in 1 minute. Played a show the next night and it was perfect; great sound! I used it on a couple of songs with distortion on rhythm and also on a couple of lead parts in other songs and it was awesome. Don't be afraid because it's plastic; it's very durable and should last me a long time. I could have bought a chorus for 5 times more than this; but I made the right choice with the FAB Chorus. Try one!

This pedal was truly an amazing deal. I'm blown away by the rich, warm chorus sounds it gives my setup. I set all 3 knobs at about 1/4 for just the right amount of flavor for my tastes. It amazes me that you can get that deep, full chorus sound of a really expensive pedal for less than a single "Andrew Jackson". Sure, it's only plastic, but it's really HARD plastic. I used my Dremel tool to cut a couple of holes in it so I can zip-tie it down to my pedal board. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about it. BUY ONE!
