Not Bad But Not My Thing

Features:

Considering the size and the price, this unit can definitely do a lot.  However I'll agree with one reviewer that it's not very intuitive and there's as steep learning curve.

Quality:

I'm primarily a guitar player, so I have limited experience with bass effects.  I got mine a little over a year ago when I  was unexpectedly asked to join a friend's band on bass.  We had gigs  coming up quickly so I didn't have the time (or money) to buy a whole  arsenal of bass effects; and I didn't really want to cannibalize my  guitar effects rig.  Really I got this to have a pedal tuner to use on  stage.  I just figured whatever effects it came with were an added bonus.  The tuner couldn't  handle the Low B of a 5-string bass and was not only inaccurate but very difficult to read on dimly-lit stages.  So I never did much investigating of the effects themselves other than a few jam sessions.

Value:

It sounds like it cost a lot more than it did.  So I suppose that's a good value.

Overall:

Again, I was looking for a pedal tuner and for the same price as a Boss  TU-3 I figured I'd have a nice bag of tricks to boot.  The effects all  sounded good.  And I got the feeling that if I'd taken the time to  really dig in to the functionality of it I would have really enjoyed  this product.  It seemed well put-together and the actual sound was  pretty decent.  But since it wasn't really up to snuff for the one job I  actually bought it for, I quickly took it off the board and put it up  on a shelf.  For somebody ELSE this thing might be the perfect first  step for bass effects for a fledgling musician, or to use in a  professional bassist's back-up rig.  You get a lot for what you pay.

This pedal is deceptively simple to program. Just select the effect or amp model you wish to program with the left knob, dial in your choice with the right knob, then push and turn the right knob to select and change the parameters. If you find you don't want a certain effect on, you merely push the right footswitch to bypass it again. The preset sounds demonstrate what the unit is capable of but not very useful. Within minutes however, I was able to crank out some good sounding patches. As I heard in a beer commercial, a good product at a tasty price.

This little multi-effects pedal has a lot of built in sounds for you to play with and a majority of them are nice. The effects are not the problem with this item, the problem is the functionality. I didnt find the book very helpful and I had to try to figure out how to use this thing just buy experimenting with it. There were a couple things about this pedal that just flat out sucked though: 1) When you first turn the pedal on there is a bit of a delay before the effects kick in. Its only a few seconds but this loading delay is kind of annoying. And 2) there have been a number of times when I would turn off the effect Im using and set my bass back to "Clean" and I would get a bit of a reverb back on my bass sometimes after turning off the effect. It lasts for 3-5 seconds tops but its clearly not a good thing to have. All in all, if youre tight on cash and not looking at use this during a show then its a fine buy, but if you want something thats better quality and better for playing live I would recommend one of Boss` multi-effects pedals instead.
