I bought one of these just recently & I'm overall pretty happy with it for most applications. It doesn't have a massive delay length...but it does dwell right in the most usable range for Rock/Metal type soloing or a nice tight slap-back type of delay. It swithces on/off nice & quietly and I don't notice any massive difference in tone with it removed from the signal chain. It's not smashing or altering your uneffected tone much, if at all...from what I can tell.I haven't had it long enough to tell how durable it's going to be. But it seems more solid and well built than most of what you'll find in it's price range (your Danelectro, Rogue, Behringer, Biyang, etc.). Time will tell I guess.Only real gripe that I have is the it's dual outputs are really useless, unless you plan on having the unit on and the Level cranked at all times. Which seems completely pointless & useless to me. With the unit off, the 2nd output sends no signal...with the unit on, the signal from the 2nd output is tied to the level control, so that unless it is set to 100%, you'll need to set one amp significantly higher than the other in a 2 amp setup. May or may not be an issue for you...to me, it's very annoying and a bit of a pain to be honest. Gave it a 3.5 in features only for that reason.Lost or broken, I'd probably look & test a good bit before thinking about buying this particular unit again. Not bad by any means, but not in the "can't live without" category.

I bought this pedal for the same reason everyone does. I wanted a good delay pedal without spending alot. The sound of this pedal is quite good, and in terms of features the only thing anyone could ask for is maybe a little bit more delay time. HOWEVER, I ended up returning mine because the foot switch broke. I accidentally lightly bumped the switch from the side with my foot, and the entire switch assembly broke. Upon examining the switch itself, DeltaLab really needs to replace the switch with another. The switch design is nothing short of terrible. So if you actually use your pedals, don't buy this pedal.

Best delay pedal for the money out there

By Rob L.

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Have had it for a few weeks now. I have it going through my effects loop. First of all, this pedal is constructed solidly. Its about the size of a MXR which is great for a pedal board. With all the controls at 12 it produces a short slap-back effect which is great for chords and rhythm licks just to thicken up your sound. Increasing the 3 controls can give you any delay you want from short to longer which is great for solos even Gilmore-esque solos. I also own the MXR Carbon Copy pedal. The DD1 can get you the same levels of delay and its less than half the price. I use the DD1 for short delay and the MXR for longer delay but the 2 are interchangeable. Most importantly, the DD1 is not a tone sucker like some pedals/effects units. I believe in value for your money and this pedal delivers!

Decent

By Danny Hause

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Good, probably wouldn't gig with it.
Only reason I gave it a 7 is because it could use a tempo tap. It's a little trick to get the repeats exactly at the right speed.
Pretty good, very solid structure, the only problem I've had is with the stomp, it is very noisy and sends an echoing click out my amp.

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Features, aesthetics, and construction are decent. It would be nice to have a longer range on the time control but as expected for $50. Steel box construction and true bypass are a major plus at this price range as well. However, mine just quit working in the middle of a gig the other day. I did give it heavy use but I take care of my pedals, they are housed in a pedaltrain box. I will now upgrade to the mxr carbon copy I believe.

Excellent, almost analog slapback

By Shuttlesdude

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a surprisingly good digital delay that has a sweet, warm tone. I picked it up a little over a year ago expecting it to be a functional, no frills pedal to tie me over until the income increased and I could justify a pricier pedal. But this has become indispensable to my sound. It's on a chain with pedals of much more prestigious pedigree (MXR, EHX, Boss), but it more than holds its own -- it's my most often used pedal. My only complaint is that the time is short - about .3 sec max, which is fine if you want slapback but not so great, I guess, for more adventurous delay applications. In short, an excellent deal - a warm digital delay that does a pretty good imitation of an analogy delay

Where's the length?

By i_r_ben

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I picked one of these guys up yesterday to go along side my modtone analog delay. It lacked length on the repeats (only reason I wanted a digital delay to go along with my analog) I could get the same repeats but warmer from my analog. Good pedal, Good price, Very sturdy....Just not for me.

DeltaLab digital delay pedal

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a pretty good pedal for the price. I mainly have been using it for some reverb to get that tunnel sound I like. For its price like I said its one of the best out there. I use it with my fender tele mim and it works just great to get that indy feel. If I were you I'd get a hold of one.

Excellent budget delay!

By Nitro-FOECH

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Picked this up at Guitar Center in Lewisville, TX last summer. Been using it for 9 months, at rehearsals, on stage, and in studio. It delivers exactly what it is supposed to, and placed in my effect loop it gives a nice, warm (short) delay. If you need a longer delay, you need something else, but this pedal adds a nice touch to my Telecaster sound using the neck pickup, and adds life to my Les Paul/Marshall solo sound. Great product, at an excellent price!

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This looks sturdy, sounds great at first, and looks cool even. Just wait 2 months to write a review. I would have written a raving review the first day I got it. Now I'm on my second one in two months and that ones even already burnt out! I have only used both of mine in a studio, not on stage or anything, so durability is a ZERO. Both have had the exact same malfunction now. It makes the worst screeching noise anytime you try to strum instead of pick. This is just utter crap, spend an extra 40 bucks and get something decent.

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Bought this delay pedal after my Electroharmonix Memory Boy quit after being used about five times. I have the tube overdrive pedal by Delta Labs and it is well constructed and has a nice tone. This delay works well, sounds good, and is a nice rugged piece of equipment. I gig with it have had no trouble. I highly recommend this product. These pedals are quality at a steal of a price.

Quality and Affordable

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

If you are looking at this pedal, chances are you are on a budget. Looking at it through that lense, you can't go wrong with the DD1. I use it every week due to the fact that I am the worship leader at my church. It is excellent for ambiant sounds and slow melodic phrases. The only down side is that the battery is accessible through the bottom of the unit and the back of the battery casing keeps falling off of mine. Nothing a little duct tape can't take care of, but I did ding it on quality for that reason. For the price and for what it does, you get more than what you pay for.

Don't Waste Your Money

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal at GC and as soon as I hooked it up, I already felt cheated. This is not the amazing delay pedal that you've been dreaming of, rather its a dumbed down version of what a digital delay should be. I have to admit, the noise it makes when you put the repeats on max is kinda cool, but other than that, I would save your money to buy a way better digital or analog delay. Also this things delay time SUCKS!!!! Get a Memory Man or Line 6 DL4 or even a Boss DD-6 or whatever Boss delay is the latest, they are way more satisfying than this.

Good in a pinch

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Sounds like a digital delay. No real loss of fidelity on the repeats, as you get with an analog delay pedal. Achieves unity gain easily, unlike the Electro-Harmonix pedals that use a 'Blend' knob. Delay time is short for a DD - unlike the EH Echo #1 which has about 2 secs of delay, or the EH Memory Boy which has about 1.5 secs of delay.I've only had it a few weeks, so I can't speak to it's durability. For those looking, it really comes down to what you need from a pedal. If you need long delay times, look elsewhere. If you like that analog delay sound where the signal degrades/goes out of phase on each repeat (like the EH Memory pedals), then look elsewhere. If you're on a budget and just need an inexpensive slap back, this'll do the trick. However, even on short slap-back delay times, I'm still a big fan of the analog sound. I A/Bed this with an EH Memory Boy, and the Memory Boy sounded better, more "organic" in every situation. But it's all a matter of taste, of course.

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Being a 'rhythm guitar' in a local band, I needed a delay to 'muddle' my sound, just a little through my old, raw Peavey combo; PERFECT! I can dial this little puppy down to spread out the background sound just enough I need to fill in my bands overall sound.Other delays I tried that were more expensive wouldn't get the effect I needed. And, crank this sucker up and it'll slap back pretty clean. I love it.

Good enough

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I never used a delay before I got this pedal so I wanted something fairly dumbed down, and it is. You can really hear the effect when palm muting, but when strumming this thing isn't audible. One thing that I really don't like is that when the effect gets turned on, I can hear the click of the pedal through the amp and it echos the sound. I can't complain too much considering the price and I got what I was hoping for. I'll be upgrading soon.

DD1 Delay

Comments about DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I use this delay for my leads to add depth. I set the repeats to max, level just enough to where you can hear it but not directly, and 3-5 repeats. It is warmer than the Ibanez AD9, and the delay repeats are slightly longer. My only complaints are that the delays are a bit too short and when activated the sound of the switch echoes through the speakers. Overall a nice, cheap, warm delay. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat
